If Law & Order is playing in the Peacock app on your phone, use Chromecast to send it to the TV: start the episode, tap the Cast icon, choose the Chromecast connected to the television, and keep both devices on the same Wi‑Fi network. If your television already supports Peacock, opening the app and signing in on the TV is usually simpler. The exact series, season, country and device model determine what you can watch.
Choose the shortest route for your setup
Identify two things first: which app contains the episode, and what your television can run. The routes below cover the common combinations.

| Your setup | Best route | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Peacock is on the phone and a Chromecast is connected to the TV | Cast from Peacock | Phone and Chromecast must use the same Wi‑Fi network. Peacock supports Chromecast 2nd Generation and later, including Chromecast with Google TV. |
| The TV has a supported Peacock app | Open Peacock on the TV | Sign in on the television and search for the exact Law & Order title. Support depends on the make, model and operating system. |
| A supported Roku device or Roku TV is connected | Install or open Peacock on Roku | Older Roku hardware is not universally supported. Confirm the model number before troubleshooting or buying anything. |
| The phone app is NBC rather than Peacock | Use NBC casting or the NBC app on a supported TV | Some NBC episodes and live viewing require a participating television-provider account. A Peacock login does not replace that provider login. |
| The TV has neither a supported app nor a compatible receiver | Add a compatible streaming device | A streaming stick is an optional compatibility fix, not a requirement when the TV already runs Peacock or has Chromecast. |
Cast Peacock from your phone with Chromecast
This is the direct answer when the episode is in Peacock and the TV has a Chromecast receiver.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Before you start
- Install the current Peacock app on an Android phone or iPhone and sign in to an account that can play the episode.
- Connect a Chromecast (2nd Generation or later, including Chromecast with Google TV) to an HDMI input on the television and complete its setup.
- Connect the phone and Chromecast to the same Wi‑Fi network. A phone on cellular data, a guest network or a different home network will not normally discover the Chromecast.
- Turn on the television and select the HDMI input used by the Chromecast.
Cast the episode
- Open the Peacock app on the phone.
- Search for the exact Law & Order series and select the episode or season you want.
- Tap Play.
- Tap the Cast (Chromecast) icon in the player.
- Select the Chromecast connected to your television.
- Wait for the TV to switch to the episode. Use the phone as the remote for pause, playback position and volume, or return to the Cast control to disconnect.
The phone is acting as a controller; the Chromecast receives the stream. You can lock the phone after playback begins, but do not force-quit Peacock or disconnect the phone from the network if you want uninterrupted control.

If the Cast icon is missing
- Confirm that the Chromecast is powered, the TV is on the correct HDMI input and the phone is on the same Wi‑Fi name as the Chromecast.
- Restart Peacock, then restart the phone and Chromecast if the receiver still does not appear.
- Use Google Home to verify that the Chromecast is set up and visible on the network. Google Home may also be needed to complete initial setup.
- Turn off a VPN or network-isolation feature temporarily. Some guest Wi‑Fi systems prevent devices from discovering one another.
- Update Peacock and the phone’s operating system. If only one phone fails to discover the device, test another phone on the same network to isolate an app or handset problem.
Peacock’s casting support does not mean every television with an HDMI port can receive a cast. The TV needs a Chromecast receiver (built-in or attached) or another supported casting path.
Watch directly in the TV’s Peacock app
When the television already supports Peacock, direct playback avoids phone-to-TV discovery and usually uses fewer steps.
Sign in and play
- Open the TV’s app store or app list and launch Peacock. On a new installation, search the store for Peacock and install it.
- Sign in using the method shown on the TV. Depending on the screen, that may be an on-screen code, a phone-based activation flow or an email and password.
- Search for the exact Law & Order title, not just the franchise name. The flagship series and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit can have different season availability.
- Choose the season and episode, then start playback.
Peacock lists support across several connected-TV families, including Google TV, LG, Samsung, VIZIO, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV and Xbox. The list is not a guarantee for every model in a brand: operating-system version, model year and regional software can change eligibility. Check the current Peacock device list for the exact television or player before relying on a device-specific instruction.

When direct playback is preferable
- The TV app is supported and already signed in.
- You want the TV remote to control playback instead of keeping the phone available.
- The phone and TV are on different networks, or the Wi‑Fi network blocks device discovery.
- You are troubleshooting an unreliable cast connection.
Use Roku when it is already connected
On a supported Roku player or Roku TV, install or open Peacock from the Roku interface, sign in and search for the title. Peacock lists Roku Streaming Stick model 3600X or later, along with several other Roku players and Roku TV models. Because compatibility is model-specific, read the model number in Settings > System > About before assuming an older Roku will run the current app.
If Peacock does not appear in the Roku Channel Store, first check the Roku’s country, software version and model. A missing app can indicate that the hardware or region is unsupported rather than a temporary search failure. Updating Roku software and restarting the player can resolve an installation problem on an otherwise eligible model.
If the app on your phone is NBC, not Peacock
The NBC app is a separate service from Peacock. Its app listing also describes casting NBC episodes to a TV with Chromecast, so the basic process is similar: play the episode, tap the Cast icon and choose the Chromecast on the same Wi‑Fi network.

Authentication is different. Some NBC episodes and live-TV viewing require credentials from a participating television provider. A Peacock subscription or Peacock sign-in does not substitute for that provider login in the NBC app.
The NBC app listing limits use to the United States and its territories. If you are elsewhere, the app may be unavailable or may not offer the same episodes. Check the app’s sign-in screen and catalog for your location rather than assuming that a U.S. episode listing applies internationally.
NBC casting checklist
- Confirm that the episode is actually available in the NBC app and that your account has the required provider authorization.
- Use a Chromecast on the same Wi‑Fi network as the phone.
- Start playback before opening the Cast control; the icon may not appear on a browse or sign-in screen.
- If the provider login loops, sign out and back in, then verify that the provider participates in NBC authentication.
Confirm the exact Law & Order series and season
“Law & Order” can refer to the flagship series or another entry in the franchise. A service page for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit should not be treated as evidence that the same seasons of the original series are available.
Open the title page in the app you plan to use and check the displayed season selector. Catalog rights vary by country, service and date; two viewers using the same app can see different seasons in different territories. If a search returns no result, try the complete title, check the account’s country and verify that you are not looking at a similarly named spin-off.
What the U.S. FAST channel announcement does—and does not—tell you
NBCUniversal announced a dedicated U.S. free, ad-supported television (FAST) channel for Law & Order on September 9, 2025. The launch announcement listed Seasons 5–10 on LG Channels, Pluto TV, Prime Video, The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus and Xumo Play.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThat announcement describes the launch lineup, not a permanent catalog. It does not establish that Seasons 5–10 remain on every listed platform today, nor does it establish availability outside the United States. Open the relevant service and check its current live-channel guide or on-demand catalog before relying on the FAST channel.

Device requirements to check before troubleshooting
| Device or platform | Requirement listed by Peacock | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Android phone or tablet | Android 7.0 or newer | Open the device’s software-information screen and install pending system updates. |
| iPhone or iPad | iOS 16 or newer | Check Settings > General > Software Update. |
| Chromecast | 2nd Generation or newer, including Chromecast with Google TV | Identify the Chromecast generation in Google Home or its device details. |
| Apple TV | Apple TV HD (4th Generation) or later with tvOS 18 or newer | Check Settings > General > About for model and tvOS. |
| LG TV | webOS 3.5 or newer | Find the webOS version in the TV’s support or general settings. |
| Samsung Smart TV | 2017 or newer | Read the model year and confirm the current app listing for that model and region. |
| VIZIO SmartCast TV | 2016 or newer | Check the TV model and SmartCast software version. |
| Roku | Roku Streaming Stick 3600X or later, plus specified Roku players and Roku TV models | Read the exact model in Settings > System > About; do not infer support from the Roku brand alone. |
These requirements can change as apps and operating systems are updated. Treat them as a compatibility screen, then confirm the current Peacock support page for your model.
Fix the most common playback problems
The TV does not appear in Peacock
- Put the phone and Chromecast on the same private Wi‑Fi network and disable network isolation or guest mode.
- Verify the Chromecast has power and that the TV is using its HDMI input.
- Restart the router, Chromecast and phone in that order.
- Open Google Home to confirm the Chromecast is online, then reopen Peacock.
The Cast icon appears, but playback fails
- Stop the episode and start it again after selecting the Chromecast.
- Check whether other apps can cast; if none can, the issue is likely the network or Chromecast rather than the episode.
- Update Peacock and Chromecast software.
- Try direct playback in the TV’s Peacock app if the TV is supported.
The episode is unavailable
- Check the series name and season number; a franchise page may combine several shows.
- Confirm your country and account region.
- Look for a current catalog entry rather than relying on an old listing or a dated FAST-channel announcement.
- If using NBC, verify the participating TV-provider requirement.
Video works but sound or picture is wrong
- Set the TV to the Chromecast’s HDMI input and check the TV’s volume and mute state.
- Try another HDMI port or cable if the Chromecast intermittently disconnects.
- Restart the TV and receiver before changing advanced picture settings.
When buying a streaming device makes sense
Consider a streaming device only when the television lacks a supported Peacock app and has no compatible casting receiver. A Roku Streaming Stick is one category Peacock lists as supported, with model 3600X or later among the stated requirements. Verify the exact retail model’s current Peacock compatibility, software support and availability in your country before purchasing.
Do not buy a stick merely because the app is on your phone. If the TV already runs Peacock, direct playback is simpler; if a Chromecast is already attached, casting costs nothing extra. A new device solves a compatibility gap, not a catalog or account problem.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Compare the routes before you start
| Route | Extra hardware | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peacock on the TV | None if the TV is supported | Fastest setup and TV-remote control | Model, software and country support vary |
| Peacock casting | Chromecast 2nd Generation or newer | Watching from a phone when the TV app is missing | Both devices must share Wi‑Fi and the receiver must be online |
| Peacock on Roku | Supported Roku player or Roku TV | Televisions without a native app | Older Roku models may not qualify |
| NBC app casting | Chromecast or another supported receiver | Episodes available through NBC | Some viewing requires a participating TV-provider account and U.S. access |
| FAST channel | Compatible service or TV platform | Ad-supported viewing when the current lineup includes the show | The September 2025 launch lineup can change |
This comparison also explains why buying hardware is not the first step. Check the TV’s app store, the receiver already connected to an HDMI port and the account you already have. Only then decide whether a Roku Streaming Stick or another compatible player fills a real gap. Hardware cannot unlock a season that is not licensed in your country, and it cannot replace an NBC provider credential.
Set up a Chromecast for the first time
- Plug the Chromecast into an available HDMI port and connect its power cable. Select that HDMI input on the TV.
- Install or open Google Home on the phone used for setup.
- Follow Google Home’s prompts to find the Chromecast, give it a recognizable room name and connect it to the home’s private Wi‑Fi network.
- Put the phone on that same network, then open Peacock and test the Cast icon with the episode selected.
If the Chromecast was previously registered to another household or router, it may need to be reset and set up again. A Chromecast shown in Google Home but missing from Peacock usually points to an app, network-isolation or software issue; a Chromecast missing from Google Home needs setup or power troubleshooting first.
Check accounts and location before changing devices
There are three separate checks: subscription access, app identity and geography. Peacock access is controlled by the Peacock account. NBC network-app access can involve a participating television provider. The country attached to the app store, account and network can affect both the app’s availability and the seasons displayed.

Write down the exact title as it appears in the app, such as the original Law & Order or a named spin-off, then note the season number. If a friend sees an episode that you cannot find, compare country, app and season before concluding that the TV or Chromecast is broken. Reinstalling an app or buying a player cannot correct a rights difference.
Use the TV remote after casting
After a successful cast, the phone remains the control surface for pause, seeking, volume and disconnecting. The television remote still controls basic TV functions such as input and, on some setups, volume. If another person needs to take over, open Peacock on a phone connected to the same network and look for the active Cast session. Disconnecting ends the receiver session but does not remove the Peacock app or account from the TV.
A reliable decision sequence
- Open the phone app and note whether it is Peacock or NBC.
- Search for the exact Law & Order series and season and confirm that the episode is playable in your country.
- Check whether the TV already has a supported Peacock or NBC app.
- If using Peacock with Chromecast, put both devices on the same Wi‑Fi network and cast from the player.
- If using NBC, prepare the participating TV-provider credentials if the app requests them.
- Only add a streaming device when the TV has no supported app and no compatible casting receiver.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cast Law & Order from Peacock to any TV?
You can cast from Peacock when the TV has a Chromecast receiver, either built in or attached, and the phone and Chromecast share the same Wi‑Fi network. An HDMI port alone is not a Chromecast receiver.
Do I need Chromecast if my smart TV has Peacock?
No. Open Peacock on the supported TV, sign in and play the episode there. Direct playback is often simpler and avoids phone-to-TV discovery. Confirm the exact TV model and software because brand support is not universal.
Why is my Chromecast missing from the Peacock Cast list?
Check power, the selected HDMI input and the Wi‑Fi network first. Guest networks, VPNs and network-isolation settings can block discovery. Google Home can confirm whether the Chromecast is online; restarting both devices and updating Peacock can also help.

Not necessarily. NBC and Peacock are separate services. Some NBC episodes and live viewing require credentials from a participating television provider, and a Peacock subscription does not replace that provider authorization.

Which Roku devices support Peacock?
Peacock lists Roku Streaming Stick model 3600X or later plus specified Roku players and Roku TV models. Read the exact model in Settings > System > About and check the current Peacock list before buying or troubleshooting.
Are all Law & Order seasons available on Peacock?
Availability depends on the exact series, season, country and date. The flagship series and Special Victims Unit can have different lineups. Use the app’s title page and season selector rather than assuming the whole franchise is included.
Is the Law & Order FAST channel still showing Seasons 5–10?
NBCUniversal announced those seasons on six U.S. platforms at launch on September 9, 2025. Platforms and catalogs can change, so check the current guide or on-demand listing on LG Channels, Pluto TV, Prime Video, The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus or Xumo Play.
Can I watch through the NBC app outside the United States?
The NBC app listing limits use to the United States and its territories. Outside that area, the app or episode may be unavailable. Check the catalog and sign-in screen for your location.
Should I buy a streaming stick just because the app is on my phone?
No. Buy one only when the TV lacks a supported Peacock app and you do not already have a compatible Chromecast or player. A streaming device fixes a compatibility gap, not a missing season or account requirement.
What phone software does Peacock list?
Peacock lists Android 7.0 or newer and iOS 16 or newer for phones and tablets. Updating the phone and Peacock app can resolve compatibility or casting problems, but current device support should be checked because requirements can change.
The Bottom Line
Start by identifying whether the episode is in Peacock or NBC and whether the TV already runs the relevant app. For Peacock, Chromecast casting requires a Chromecast 2nd Generation or newer and the same Wi‑Fi network on the phone and receiver. Use the TV app when supported, verify the exact series and season in your country, and buy a streaming device only to solve a genuine compatibility gap.
