On Apple Vision Pro, open the Apple TV app, use Vision to find titles marked Apple Immersive, or use Search → Apple Immersive Video. For stereoscopic films, choose 3D movies instead. Open each title’s How to Watch section to see whether it is included, requires a rental or purchase, or can be downloaded for offline viewing.
Choose the right Apple TV catalog
Apple TV presents two different kinds of immersive viewing on Vision Pro. They are adjacent in the app but are not interchangeable:

Apple’s support guide documents these navigation paths and title-specific rules in its Apple Vision Pro viewing guide. A title can appear in the catalog without having the same payment or download options as another title, so inspect its details page rather than assuming that all immersive content is included.
Watch Apple Immersive Video
Open an immersive title from Vision
- Put on Apple Vision Pro and open the Apple TV app.
- Select Vision in the tab bar.
- Browse until you see a title carrying the Apple Immersive label.
- Select the title to open its details page.
- Read the How to Watch area. It identifies whether the program is available through your current access, a subscription, a rental or a purchase.
- Choose the on-screen play control to start viewing.
The label is important: a conventional 2D movie or a standard 3D movie is not automatically an Apple Immersive Video title. If you want Apple’s immersive collection specifically, use the label or the dedicated search category rather than relying on a general movie search.

Use Search when the Vision tab is crowded
- Open Apple TV and select Search.
- Choose Apple Immersive Video from the search categories.
- Select a program and review How to Watch before playing it.
This route is useful when you know you want immersive video but do not want to browse the wider Vision page. Apple may change the layout or category placement in a future visionOS release; the labels above are those documented in Apple’s visionOS 27 guide.
Watch a 3D movie
Find the 3D version
- Open the Apple TV app.
- From Vision or Search, select 3D movies.
- Choose a film and open its details page.
- Scroll to How to Watch to see whether the 3D version is included, available to rent, or available to buy.
Apple’s guide says that a movie you previously purchased in Apple TV, and that is now offered in 3D, can be watched in 3D without an additional charge. That rule is specific to eligible Apple TV purchases; it does not establish that a purchase made through another store unlocks the Apple TV 3D version.
Start playback in 3D
- Start the selected film.
- When the playback or movie-details choices appear, choose Play in 3D.
- If the title offers both versions, use the same selection area to switch between 2D and 3D.
If you do not see a 3D choice, first confirm that you selected the listing under 3D movies and that the title page actually offers a 3D version. A normal 2D listing does not gain a 3D mode simply because it is being watched on Vision Pro.

Download a title for offline viewing
Offline playback is title-dependent. Apple does not promise a download for every Apple Immersive Video program or every 3D movie.
- In Apple TV, open the details page for the immersive video or 3D movie.
- Pinch and hold the title.
- Tap Download if that command appears.
- Wait for the download to finish before leaving a reliable network connection.
- Later, open the downloaded item in Apple TV and start playback without relying on a live connection.
The absence of a Download command means that Apple has not enabled offline saving for that title in your catalog context. It is not a gesture problem to solve by repeatedly pinching; the control is only shown for supported items. Download rights can also vary with the title’s licensing and your country or region.
What “immersive” means on Vision Pro
Apple uses several viewing categories in its documentation. Vision Pro supports 2D, 3D and fully immersive video, but those labels describe different presentation formats. Apple’s developer overview describes Apple Immersive Video as 180-degree 8K recordings captured with Spatial Audio. That is Apple’s format description, not a claim that every video viewed on Vision Pro is 180-degree, 8K or recorded with Spatial Audio. The technical overview is available from Apple Developer.

- 2D: a conventional flat video presentation.
- 3D: a stereoscopic presentation of a feature film, selected through the 3D movie catalog and playback controls.
- Apple Immersive Video: Apple’s immersive category, found through the Apple Immersive label or the Apple Immersive Video search category.
Because these formats are cataloged separately, searching for “immersive” is not a substitute for checking whether a title is marked Apple Immersive or listed under 3D movies.

Examples of Apple Immersive Video programs
Apple’s US App Store editorial collection has featured Elevated, Boundless and Wild Life as Apple Immersive Video examples, along with Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive). The same US storefront page displayed over 300 3D films when observed in 2026. That number is Apple’s own, date-sensitive US catalog claim; it is not an independently verified worldwide total and can change as titles are added, removed or reclassified. - Elevated: a travel- and nature-oriented example in Apple’s immersive collection.
- Boundless: another travel and nature example presented by Apple.
- Wild Life: a wildlife-focused immersive example.
- Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive): a music and biography-oriented feature.
These examples indicate the range of subjects rather than a permanent “best of” list. Open each current title page to confirm that it is still offered in your storefront and to see its access terms.
Availability, regions and dated announcements
Apple cautions that content and features vary by country or region. A title visible in the US App Store collection may not appear in another storefront, and the same program can have different subscription, rental, purchase or download rights. The Vision, Apple Immersive Video and 3D movies categories shown in your Apple TV app are the practical authority for your account and location.
Apple’s September 2025 Newsroom announcement said that Tour De Force from CANAL+ and MotoGP was then available for free in the Apple TV app on Vision Pro. It also said Journey to Antarctica to Find Emperor Penguins would be available in spring 2026. Those statements describe availability at the time of the announcement; they do not prove that either title is currently offered in every country. Read the announcement at Apple Newsroom, then verify the live title page in your region.
For mainland China, that announcement named Migu Video and Tencent Video as apps through which users could access selected Apple Immersive titles. It did not establish a complete current catalog or guarantee that every Apple Immersive program is available through either app.

How to decide what to watch
If you want a fully surrounding experience
Start with Apple Immersive Video. Use the Vision tab or the dedicated search category, then look for the Apple Immersive label. Nature, travel and performance programs are among Apple’s featured examples, but the available subjects change over time.
If you want a familiar feature film in depth
Use 3D movies. Check How to Watch before pressing play, especially if you already own the 2D version. An eligible Apple TV purchase can unlock the 3D version without another charge, while other titles may require a rental or purchase.
If you need to watch without a connection
Choose only a title that shows Download after you pinch and hold it. Download eligibility is not universal, so confirm it before relying on a program for travel or another offline situation.
If a title is missing
Check the category, account and region before assuming the headset is malfunctioning. A title may belong to 3D movies rather than Apple Immersive Video, may have left the catalog, or may not be licensed in your country.
Access terms and what a title may cost
There is no single price or subscription rule for the Vision catalog. Apple’s support guidance directs you to each title’s How to Watch section because availability can mean included viewing, access through a subscription, a one-time rental or a purchase. The amount and currency are shown in the Apple TV listing for your storefront, so do not rely on a price seen in another country or on an older listing.
If you already bought a movie through Apple TV, check whether Apple now marks that same title as available in 3D. When it is an eligible purchase, Apple says you can watch the 3D version without paying again. This does not automatically apply to a title bought from another video store, a disc, or a listing that has no eligible 3D version. A rental or purchase choice can also disappear when licensing changes, which is another reason to check the live title page immediately before watching.

This distinction prevents two common mistakes: expecting a conventional movie to become fully immersive, or looking for a 3D toggle on a title that is not offered in 3D.
Troubleshooting the common failure points
The Vision tab does not show Apple Immersive titles
- Open Search and select Apple Immersive Video; the dedicated category is an alternative to browsing Vision.
- Confirm that you are using the Apple TV app on Vision Pro rather than searching a different video app.
- Consider regional availability: Apple says catalog features differ by country and region.
A movie has no Play in 3D option
- Return to the catalog and enter through 3D movies.
- Open the title’s How to Watch section to confirm that a 3D version is offered.
- If you opened a standard 2D listing, select the 3D listing instead; the playback control is title-specific.
The title cannot be downloaded
- Pinch and hold the title on its Apple TV details page.
- If Download is absent, Apple has not enabled offline saving for that item in your current catalog context.
- Check another title rather than assuming every immersive program supports offline playback.
The price or access method is unclear
Use the title page’s How to Watch section. Apple’s general guide does not assign one universal price or access rule to all immersive and 3D content; terms vary by title and can include included viewing, a subscription, a rental or a purchase.

What you do—and do not—need
The documented workflow requires Apple Vision Pro, the Apple TV app and access to the desired title. Apple’s viewing instructions do not identify a mandatory replacement part, physical media item or additional accessory for watching Apple Immersive Video or 3D movies. Playback, payment and download eligibility are handled at the title level inside Apple TV.
Because Apple’s support instructions are tied to a visionOS 27 guide path, labels and screen placement may change in later software updates. If a future update moves a tab or category, look for the same named concepts—Vision, Apple Immersive Video, 3D movies, How to Watch and Download—inside the Apple TV app.

Do I have to pay again for a 3D movie I already bought?
