To watch Foundation with subtitles or audio description, check the show’s listing in the Apple TV app or at tv.apple.com for the tracks and languages available in your country or region, then select a track from the playback controls. To watch offline, download episodes in the Apple TV app on a supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows PC, or Android device; downloads aren’t available through the app on Apple TV hardware, smart TVs, other streaming devices, or tv.apple.com.
How to check which accessibility tracks Foundation offers
Track availability depends on the title and your country or region, so don’t assume that a feature or language offered elsewhere will be available on your listing. Open Foundation in the Apple TV app or visit tv.apple.com, then check the title page’s Languages section for closed captions (CC), subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH), audio description (AD), and the languages listed for each feature. Apple explains that AD uses a spoken audio track to describe what is happening onscreen. Apple’s accessibility-features guide describes how these indicators appear in the app.

How to turn on subtitles while watching
- Start an episode of Foundation.
- Reveal the playback controls. On iPhone or iPad, tap the screen.
- Open Subtitles and choose a listed track. The available choices depend on the episode and region; if the language you want is not listed, it is not available to select for that playback.
On other devices, the controls and menu layout can differ. Apple’s Apple TV app guide to subtitle and audio controls covers playback options.

During playback, reveal the controls, open the audio options, and select an AD track if one is listed. On iPhone or iPad, you can also go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio Descriptions to enable audio descriptions when the video includes a track. That device setting does not add audio description to a show or episode that does not offer it. See Apple’s iPhone and iPad instructions for the setting and Apple’s TV and living-room-device accessibility guide for those devices.

How to download Foundation episodes for offline viewing
- Open the Apple TV app on a supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows PC, or Android device.
- Find Foundation and choose an episode—or a season if that option appears in your app.
- Use the available download control.
- To find saved episodes later, open Library > Downloaded.
Apple says downloads are not available in the Apple TV app on Apple TV hardware, smart TVs, streaming devices, or tv.apple.com. A title, channel, or account restriction can also prevent a download. See Apple’s download and streaming guidance and its Apple TV app library guide.

| Device option | Best suited to | Download through the Apple TV app? | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple TV 4K, smart TV, or other living-room device | Watching on a television and choosing playback accessibility options when offered | No | Track availability depends on the title and region; playback menus differ by device. Apple’s TV app accessibility guide and its Apple TV 4K audio-description guide explain living-room options. |
| iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows PC, or Android device | Watching on a personal device, including offline viewing where downloads are supported | Yes, on supported devices | Check the listing for the desired track and language, then use that device’s playback controls. Download availability can still be limited by title, channel, or account. |
| tv.apple.com | Streaming in a web browser | No | Check the title listing for the accessibility tracks and languages available in your region. |
Apple TV hardware is not required to use the service. Choose a supported personal device if offline viewing is important; the Apple TV app on a television or living-room device is for streaming, not downloading subscription episodes.
