First check which service can legally show live Formula 1 in your country: F1 TV Pro and Premium are available only in selected locations, and local broadcasters may hold the rights. Once you know which subscription you can use, the simplest TV option is a supported F1 TV or broadcaster app; otherwise, try AirPlay, Google Cast, or Chrome casting if your devices and the stream support them.

F1 says plans must be associated with the country where you live and subscribe. Check the F1 TV subscription page and local broadcaster listings before choosing a plan or buying a streaming device.

Choose a live service available in your country

Live F1 viewing rights vary by country. F1 TV Pro and Premium are not offered everywhere, and a subscription must match your resident country and the country where you subscribe. Confirm that your chosen F1 TV plan or local rights-holding broadcaster carries the race live where you are before setting up your TV.

F1 lists web, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, Roku, and Chromecast among its viewing platforms. Plan and device eligibility can differ by market; check the subscription details for your location.

Option 1: Watch in an app on a TV or streaming device

If your television or connected streaming device supports the appropriate F1 TV or broadcaster app, open or install it, sign in, and select the live race. This avoids relying on a phone or laptop as the playback source.

For F1 TV Pro, Formula 1’s 2026 guidance names Apple TV, Chromecast Generation 2 and above, Android TV, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku. This is F1’s published compatibility list, not a guarantee that every plan or device is available in every market. Check both regional plan eligibility and your device’s app store before buying hardware.

If the TV lacks a suitable app, a compatible streaming device may provide one. Amazon Fire TV is one option named by F1 for F1 TV Pro; Chromecast or a Google TV streaming device may also suit viewers who want an F1 TV platform or a Google Cast receiver. Confirm the exact model and service availability first.

Option 2: Send the stream from a phone or tablet

iPhone or iPad: AirPlay

  1. Connect the iPhone or iPad and the Apple TV, AirPlay-compatible television, or Mac to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the F1 TV or broadcaster app and start the race.
  3. Tap the AirPlay control if it appears, then select the TV or other receiver.

Apple supports AirPlay streaming and screen mirroring to compatible receivers, but warns that some video apps may not support AirPlay. The F1 TV app’s AirPlay control may not be available in every region or app version. If you cannot select a receiver, use the TV’s supported app or another supported viewing route rather than assuming the phone can mirror that stream.

Android or other supported phones: Google Cast

  1. Put the phone and Chromecast or other supported Google Cast receiver on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the live service’s current Cast-enabled app and start the stream.
  3. If the Cast control is available, tap it and choose the TV receiver.

Google Cast requires a supported phone, receiver, compatible app, and shared Wi-Fi. F1 lists Chromecast as a viewing platform, but that does not establish that the F1 TV mobile app exposes a Cast control in every market. If it is absent, use an app installed on the receiver or try a different supported route.

Option 3: Cast or mirror from a laptop

F1 supports web viewing. On a computer, Google Chrome can send a tab or screen to Chromecast, Google TV Streamer, Chromecast Ultra, or a television with Google Cast. The computer and receiver need to share a Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the F1 TV or broadcaster website in Chrome and sign in to the service available in your country.
  2. Use Chrome’s cast function to choose the supported TV receiver. For a race stream, casting the tab sends its sound to the TV; screen casting may handle audio differently.
  3. Start playback and check that both video and sound are coming through as intended.

Chrome’s casting feature is general browser functionality, not a guarantee that F1 TV playback will work in every browser, region, or viewing session. If casting is unavailable or unreliable, use the service’s supported TV app or a compatible streaming device.

Which setup should you use?

Route Best fit What to confirm
TV or streaming-device app Your TV or receiver already has a supported F1 TV or broadcaster app. That the live service and app are available for your country, plan, and device.
Phone or tablet casting You want to send a stream from a mobile app to a compatible receiver. The app offers AirPlay or Cast, the receiver supports that protocol, and both devices share Wi-Fi.
Chrome from a laptop You watch on the service’s website and have a Google Cast receiver. The receiver is supported, both devices share Wi-Fi, and the particular stream permits playback while casting.

Use an installed supported app when available. Casting is convenient when the app and receiver work together; a streaming receiver is a practical alternative if the TV itself lacks an appropriate app.

Quick fixes if the race will not appear on the TV

  • No live race or subscription option: Recheck local rights and whether the plan is offered for your country. A device setup cannot provide access to a service that is unavailable there.
  • No AirPlay or Cast control: The app or stream may not support that method. Use the TV’s app, a supported receiver app, or another route listed above.
  • The phone or laptop cannot find the receiver: Confirm both are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that the receiver supports the selected casting protocol.
  • Chrome sends video but audio behaves differently: Google notes that tab casting sends sound to the TV, while screen-casting audio behavior can differ. Try casting the tab or switch to the service’s TV app.

What F1 TV Premium says it includes

F1 describes Premium as supporting viewing on up to six devices and offering live custom multiview and UHD.
