How to Watch a SpaceX Starship Launch Live and Find Official Updates

Start with the SpaceX mission page for the specific Starship flight. Select its WATCH control for the official webcast, then monitor X @SpaceX for schedule and status updates. The mission page is the authoritative place for flight-specific timing and viewing details; X is the fastest companion channel when a developmental test changes.

Do not rely on a generic countdown or an old launch listing. SpaceX says Starship test schedules are dynamic, and the webcast start time can be different from one mission to the next. Reopen the mission page shortly before the planned liftoff and check the latest posts from @SpaceX before you settle in.

The quickest official way to watch

  1. Find the mission page for the flight you want. Use SpaceX’s own Starship mission page rather than a third-party livestream page. Confirm that the page names the intended flight.
  2. Choose WATCH. The mission page’s WATCH control is the direct entry point to the official webcast. Open it before the published start time so you are not searching for a stream while the countdown is underway.
  3. Keep the mission page open. It carries the flight description, planned timing and any status changes that affect the broadcast.
  4. Check X @SpaceX as launch approaches. SpaceX identifies that account as an official webcast and updates destination. Use it to catch a hold, scrub, revised countdown or other announcement that may appear after you first opened the mission page.

These steps work for a scheduled launch, a delayed attempt and a long-duration flight. The important detail is to identify the mission first; a general Starship search can surface old tests, commentary or simulcasts for a different vehicle.

Which official destination should you use?

Both destinations are official, but they serve different purposes. Use the mission page as your reference point and X as the rapid-update channel.

Destination Best use What to verify there Limitation
SpaceX mission page Opening the dedicated webcast and understanding the flight The mission name, current launch status, posted webcast start and flight-specific plan The page can change as the test schedule changes, so an earlier visit may be out of date
X @SpaceX Fast announcements, live-posted changes and an additional official webcast route Whether SpaceX has announced a hold, scrub, new target or change to coverage Posts move quickly; use the mission page to interpret details for the particular flight

If the two pages appear to disagree, do not fill the gap with a third-party countdown. Recheck both official destinations, note the time of the newest update and wait for SpaceX to clarify the status.

When should you tune in?

There is no universal Starship webcast lead time. The mission page for Flight 14 said coverage would begin about 30 minutes before liftoff. That is a Flight 14 plan, not a standing promise for every future flight. For another mission, use the start time displayed on that mission’s page.

Build your viewing window around the posted start

Read the webcast start and the planned liftoff separately. A webcast can begin before the launch countdown, and a countdown can pause after coverage has started. If the page gives only a target window, treat it as a window rather than a guaranteed instant. Set a reminder for the official webcast start, then check the page again immediately before it.

Expect changes during developmental testing

SpaceX’s Flight 14 page warned: “As is the case with all developmental testing, the schedule is dynamic and likely to change, so be sure to check in here and stay tuned to our X account for updates.” That warning applies to how you plan your viewing: a calendar entry is useful, but the mission page and @SpaceX post are the final checks.

How to verify the schedule before launch

  1. Open the mission-specific page on the day of the attempt. Make sure the page still describes the same flight and look for the latest target or status wording.
  2. Read the webcast information. Record the posted start time and any statement about coverage length. Do not substitute a time from a different Starship mission.
  3. Check @SpaceX for a newer announcement. Compare the timestamp of the most recent relevant post with the information on the mission page.
  4. Refresh shortly before the webcast. A launch hold or scrub can be announced after an earlier page load. Refreshing also helps if the WATCH control was published or changed after you first visited.
  5. Recheck after any pause. If the countdown stops, wait for an official update instead of assuming the launch has been cancelled or is about to resume.

SpaceX lists Starbase, Texas as Starship’s development, manufacturing, testing and launch site. That identifies the program’s launch location, but it does not by itself establish a launch date or a viewing time for a particular flight.

Important status note about Flight 14

Flight 14 illustrates why the mission page and official updates matter. One SpaceX launch-listing extract labels Flight 14 as upcoming but leaves its date and time unpopulated. The mission-specific page and the completed-missions table identify Flight 14 as having launched on September 28, 2026. Those displayed records conflict.

Because of that conflict, do not use the listing extract to announce a new Flight 14 launch date. If you are trying to determine whether Flight 14 is still watchable live, first open its mission-specific page and then check @SpaceX. A completed-mission record means a live launch window has passed; any replay or continuing coverage should be identified as such on the official page rather than inferred from an “upcoming” label.

The same rule applies to later Starship flights: a stale card, cached page or undated listing is not enough evidence for a countdown. Confirm the mission-specific status immediately before viewing.

What Flight 14’s planned webcast covered

Flight 14’s mission page described it as SpaceX’s first planned Starship orbital mission. The page gave these mission-plan details:

  • Expected altitude of approximately 275 km.
  • About six orbits.
  • A nearly 10-hour flight.
  • A planned Pacific Ocean splashdown west of Chile.
  • Coverage planned through splashdown, potentially including hours of live views from Starship in orbit.

These are Flight 14-specific plans. They explain why the webcast could continue long after liftoff, but they should not be presented as the standard duration, orbit count, altitude or splashdown location for another Starship flight. A later mission page may describe a different trajectory, test objective or coverage plan.

Prepare your setup for an official livestream

Before the webcast starts

  • Use a reliable internet connection and a device that can display online video.
  • Open the mission page and the official X account in separate tabs or windows.
  • Write down the mission name so you can distinguish the correct stream from older Starship footage.
  • Check your device’s audio output before the broadcast begins; launch coverage often includes countdown calls and vehicle status.
  • If several people are watching, share the mission page rather than an unverified repost so everyone sees the same official status.

When the stream is live

Keep the mission page available even if you start the video from X. The page may contain the flight description and the latest status language, while the social feed may carry a newer hold or milestone notice. If video and text appear out of sync, give priority to the newest official status statement and refresh both destinations.

If you join late

Do not assume the launch has been missed because the player opens on a later segment. Read the current mission status first. For a long mission such as the Flight 14 plan, coverage could continue through splashdown, so joining after liftoff may still provide official views and updates. The mission page should make clear whether the stream is live, replaying or complete.

What to expect during a long Starship broadcast

A Starship webcast may cover more than the seconds around liftoff. The Flight 14 plan called for coverage through splashdown and potentially hours of live views from orbit. That means the broadcast can include countdown holds, ascent coverage, orbital views, mission updates and the eventual end of the planned flight.

Do not interpret a quiet video segment as a technical failure without checking the accompanying official status. A developmental flight can pause for operational reasons, and the webcast plan can change while the vehicle is in flight. The mission page and @SpaceX posts are the appropriate places to distinguish a normal coverage break from a change in mission status.

Troubleshooting common viewing problems

The WATCH control is missing

Refresh the mission page and verify that you are on the page for the intended flight. SpaceX may not expose a webcast control until the mission is active or the broadcast is ready. Check @SpaceX for an announcement rather than using a similarly titled third-party stream.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The page shows no launch time

Treat an empty date or time as an instruction to verify, not as a countdown. Check the mission-specific page for a newer status and compare it with the latest @SpaceX update. Do not copy a time from an older article, a different flight or an undated listing.

The countdown has stopped

Remain on the official pages and wait for a new status. A stopped countdown can be a temporary hold or a scrub; only SpaceX’s current announcement can tell you which. Refresh after the update and use the revised timing, if one is posted.

The video buffers or drops

Reload the official player, check your connection and try the other official destination. If the mission page and X both point to the same webcast, switching between them can reveal whether the problem is local to your player. Avoid declaring the mission over solely because one player stopped.

You find several streams with the same title

Choose the stream reached from the mission page’s WATCH control or identified by @SpaceX. Unofficial simulcasts can be delayed, mislabeled or showing an earlier flight. The mission name and the official account are the quickest authenticity checks.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to avoid outdated or misleading information

  • Check the date. A page describing a completed flight cannot establish the schedule for the next one.
  • Check the mission name. Starship flight numbers and test objectives are not interchangeable.
  • Check the source. SpaceX’s mission page and @SpaceX are the official destinations identified for the webcast and updates.
  • Check the wording. “Target,” “planned,” “upcoming” and “completed” have different meanings. An undated “upcoming” label is not a usable launch appointment.
  • Check again near launch. Developmental schedules can move after a page is first published.

A practical viewing checklist

  1. Identify the exact Starship flight.
  2. Open its SpaceX mission page.
  3. Read the current status and posted webcast start.
  4. Select WATCH when available.
  5. Open X @SpaceX for the latest official announcement.
  6. Refresh both destinations shortly before the planned liftoff.
  7. If the countdown pauses, wait for an official status instead of relying on a third-party timer.
  8. After liftoff, keep the mission page open for flight-specific coverage details and any change to the plan.

What the official route can—and cannot—tell you

The mission page can tell you where SpaceX intends to stream the flight, when it currently expects coverage to begin and what the mission plan calls for. X can deliver rapid updates when those details change. Neither destination turns a developmental target into a guarantee. Launch timing, webcast start and coverage length remain specific to the mission and can be revised.

For Flight 14, the official record is especially important because the launch listing and completed-missions information do not display the same status. Use the mission-specific page and @SpaceX to resolve what is available now, and treat the September 28, 2026 completed date as the recorded result rather than a future appointment.
