View recent calls on a Samsung Galaxy
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap Recents. The list shows recent calls, including incoming, outgoing, and missed calls.
- Tap a call entry to view its available information, which may include the call type, timestamp, and duration.
Samsung documents these steps for Galaxy phones, but the interface can vary by model and software version. Samsung also notes that its Hong Kong instructions apply to products for that region, and that sequences and settings may differ elsewhere. Find missed calls or narrow the call list
On supported versions of the Phone app, you can filter which calls appear:
- In Recents, tap the three-dot More options menu.
- Choose Calls to show.
- Select one of the categories offered on your device.
If you do not see Calls to show, your version may use different controls or may not offer that menu. Check the options available in your Phone app rather than assuming the call is missing.

Delete a call-history entry
- In the Phone app, open Recents.
- Touch and hold the entry you want to remove.
- Tap Delete and confirm if prompted.
Samsung also documents selecting multiple records before deleting them. Deleting an entry removes it from the visible call history; it does not create an audio recording or otherwise preserve the call. See Samsung’s call-history instructions.
Restore deleted call history from a backup
Samsung’s documented restore option depends on having a suitable backup made before the call history was deleted. If you have one, sign in to the Samsung Account associated with it, then go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Restore data, choose the relevant backed-up data, and restore it. Available menus and backup options can vary by device and software version. Samsung’s instructions do not establish a recovery method for deleted history when no suitable backup exists. Troubleshoot a missing call log
First check whether the list is filtered. If calls still do not appear, Samsung identifies software or app problems, permissions, low storage, and damaged or deleted log data among possible causes. Work through these checks:
- Restart the phone. This can clear a temporary app or system problem.
- Check Phone permissions. Open Settings > Apps > Phone > Permissions and check whether call-log access is available and allowed. The precise permission labels can vary.
- Clear the Phone app cache. Go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Storage and choose the cache-clearing option. Avoid selecting a data-clearing option unless you understand its effects.
- Install available updates. Check for device software and Phone app updates.
- Check backup availability. If records were deleted, use a suitable existing backup if one is available.
If the problem persists, Samsung also suggests considering interference from third-party apps and network or SIM issues. These troubleshooting steps may address causes of a missing log, but they do not guarantee recovery of deleted records. For Samsung’s guidance, see how to fix call-log issues.

Call history is not the same as call recordings
Recents is a log of calls; it does not contain the audio of each conversation. On devices that support call recording, a recorded call may have a microphone icon in Recents. Samsung describes accessing recordings through Phone > More options > Settings > Record calls. Recording features, transcripts, and summaries depend on the device and software version. Samsung’s support pages warn that menus and settings can vary with model, software version, carrier, and purchase region. The Hong Kong call-history page is specifically for Hong Kong products, so its menu path may not match another region’s phone. If you are using a Galaxy tablet, Samsung says the Phone app may be present only when supplied by the carrier or when compatible with Call and text on other devices; availability and appearance can vary by carrier.
