The word “profile” covers several different sets of information on Amazon. The correct settings page depends on what you want to change and which Amazon service displays it.

Which Amazon setting should you use?
Use this distinction before changing anything. It prevents an edit to a service-specific profile from being mistaken for a change to your shopping-account identity.

Amazon’s Privacy Notice also uses Your Profile to describe information such as product reviews, recommendations, reminders and personal profile information. That broader description does not mean every item is edited from one universal profile screen.

Before you make an edit
First identify the service and the audience for the information. A sign-in email and a public music handle may both look like identity fields, but they serve different purposes and live in different settings. Likewise, a billing address is connected to a payment method, while a delivery address is used for where an order goes.
- Use a signed-in session for the correct Amazon account, especially if a device has more than one account.
- Read the current value before changing it so you know which record you are editing.
- Change one category at a time. This makes it easier to tell whether an update affected the intended service.
- After saving, reopen the same page and verify the displayed value.
- For public-facing information, check how the profile appears to another Amazon user, not only how it looks in an editor.
Amazon’s labels and screen order can vary by marketplace, app version and account state. The routes below are the official starting points, but a phone app, web browser and Fire tablet may present the controls differently.
View your Amazon account information
- Sign in to the Amazon account whose information you want to inspect.
- Open Your Account.
- Review the available account areas for personal information, order details, addresses, payment options, profile information, Prime membership, household settings and purchase history.
- Open the area that matches the information you need to check rather than changing a different category by mistake.
Amazon says Your Account is the place where customers can access their personal information and order details. You can use it as an inventory of the account: confirm the contact details used for access, review saved payment and address records, and inspect service-related areas such as Prime or household settings. Not every item shown there is a public profile field.
If you are only trying to look up information, do not select an edit control unnecessarily. Viewing the current value first helps distinguish an outdated account record from a value that belongs to another Amazon service.
Change your name, email address, mobile number or password
These are account sign-in and security details. Amazon’s customer-service guidance names Login & security as the section for editing them.
- Open Your Account after signing in.
- Select Login & security.
- Choose the field you need to change: name, email address, mobile number or password.
- Enter the new information and follow the confirmation prompts shown by Amazon.
- Return to the same page and verify that the account now displays the intended value.
Changing your name
Edit the name in Login & security when the name associated with the customer account is wrong or has changed. This is an account identity field, not the separate display name used by Amazon Music’s public profile. If another Amazon service continues to show a different name, check whether that service has its own profile editor rather than repeatedly changing the shopping-account name.
Changing your email address
Use Login & security for the email address used with the Amazon account. Check the spelling carefully before saving, because this address is part of your account’s sign-in and communication details. After the update, verify the value in Login & security instead of relying on an address displayed in an order receipt or a separate service.

The mobile number is edited from the same Login & security area. If more than one contact method is shown, change the specific number associated with the account rather than assuming a number stored elsewhere, such as an address record, is the sign-in number. Confirm that the new number appears in the security section after you save.

Changing your password
Password changes also belong in Login & security. Use a new password you can store securely, then verify that you can sign in again before closing the session. Do not treat a password change as a way to alter a public profile; it changes account access credentials. If a music profile still shows the same public name or picture afterward, that is expected because those fields are controlled inside Amazon Music.
Manage payment methods and billing addresses
Payment details have their own route: Your Account → Your payments.
- Open Your Account.
- Select Your payments.
- Review the saved payment methods and billing addresses shown there.
- Select the payment method or billing address you need to edit, or use the available option to add one.
- Save the change and check that the intended method and billing address are displayed.
Amazon Pay’s help guidance says changes made on the Amazon website apply to both Amazon Pay and Amazon websites. That statement describes the relationship between the website account and Amazon Pay; it is not a promise that every Amazon service shares every profile field.

Payment address versus delivery address
A billing address belongs with a payment method. If you are trying to change where an order is delivered, look for the address-management area in Your Account instead of editing a billing address in Your payments. Selecting the wrong address category can leave the original information unchanged for the purpose you intended.
After editing, verify the billing address attached to the relevant payment method, not merely an address elsewhere in the account. A saved delivery address and a billing address can represent different records.
Edit other personal information from Your Account
When the information is not a sign-in credential or payment detail, begin in Your Account. Amazon identifies this area as the hub for personal information and order details, including addresses, profile information, Prime membership, household settings and purchase history.
- Open Your Account and identify the category that describes the information you want to view.
- Open that category and read the current value before making an edit.
- Change only the field that is incorrect or out of date.
- Save, then reopen the category to confirm the new value.
Amazon’s description of personal information is broad. It can include account contact data, addresses, payment options, profile information, Prime membership, household settings and purchase history. These categories may have separate controls even though Your Account is the common starting point.
Because Amazon presents different account categories in different contexts, the precise screen sequence is not guaranteed to be identical across countries, apps or account states. If a setting is not visible, return to Your Account and look for the category most closely matching the information rather than trying to edit it through Login & security.

What Amazon means by “Your Profile”
Amazon’s Privacy Notice uses Your Profile as a broad description that can include product reviews, recommendations, reminders and personal profile information. This terminology is useful when you are reviewing what Amazon associates with your account, but it should not be read as a single editor for every service.
A review name, a recommendation history and a shopping-account email can have different purposes and audiences. Before changing a value, identify the page that displays it and follow that page’s controls. If the value appears in Amazon Music, use Amazon Music’s profile editor; if it is an account contact or security value, use Login & security.
Edit your Amazon Music profile
Amazon Music has a separate, public-facing profile. Amazon says its profile can include a name, picture, unique social handle, following list, followers list and public playlists.
- Open Amazon Music on iOS, Android, a Fire tablet or the web player.
- Open the profile area and choose the profile edit controls.
- Edit the Amazon Music profile fields offered there, such as the name, picture or unique handle.
- Save the changes, then view the profile as presented in Amazon Music to check the result.
Amazon states that changes to an Amazon Music profile name, picture and handle remain within Amazon Music. They do not update the name or other identity fields on the regular Amazon shopping account or automatically alter profiles on other Amazon services.
Control who can follow your Amazon Music profile
- Open your Amazon Music profile settings.
- Open Profile Privacy.
- Turn off Others can follow my profile if you do not want other users to follow the profile.
- Review public playlists separately and remove or change visibility for anything you do not want exposed.
Turning off the follow setting is not the same as erasing every trace of the profile. Amazon says a profile may still be encountered by people with whom you shared a profile link or through public playlists. Review both profile privacy and playlist visibility when limiting exposure.
Consider each public element separately. A unique handle can make a profile easier to identify, while a picture or public playlist can reveal additional context. Restricting follows addresses one control; it does not automatically make shared links or public playlists private.
How the different edits carry across Amazon services
Do not assume that every Amazon setting is synchronized. The effect depends on the service and the type of information.

The practical comparison is four-part: identify the information, find where its setting lives, determine which services the edit affects, and consider who may see it. This prevents a payment record from being treated as a public profile or an Amazon Music handle from being treated as the account email address.

Privacy, retained information and communication preferences
Amazon’s Privacy Notice says customers can update certain information through the relevant account pages and adjust customer communication preferences. It also says Amazon usually keeps a copy of prior information when a customer updates it. An edit therefore changes the current account value without necessarily meaning that every historical version is immediately removed from Amazon’s records.
Use the account pages to correct current information and the communication-preference controls to adjust messages. These are separate goals: changing an email address is not the same operation as changing which communications you receive.
When reviewing privacy, separate current visibility from retained records. A current value can be corrected while an earlier version remains in Amazon’s records under its stated practices. That does not mean the old value is still the one displayed in the account; it means editing and historical retention are different questions.
For Amazon Music, consider the audience for each element independently. A profile name or picture, a unique handle, follower relationships and public playlists can expose different parts of your activity. Restricting follows while leaving playlists public does not provide the same result as reviewing both settings.
Common problems and the right fix
The setting you need is missing
Amazon’s layout can vary by marketplace, app version and account state. Return to Your Account and check the category that matches the information: Login & security for sign-in details, Your payments for payment and billing details, and Amazon Music for its service profile.
An Amazon Music edit did not change your shopping account
This is expected for the fields Amazon identifies as Amazon Music-specific. Change the shopping-account name through Your Account → Login & security instead. Conversely, changing the shopping-account name does not replace an Amazon Music picture, handle or display name.
A billing address is still wrong at checkout
Reopen Your payments and verify the billing address attached to the relevant payment method. Do not assume that changing a delivery address changed the billing record. Check the payment-specific record again before attempting another order.

Other people can still find an Amazon Music profile
Check Profile Privacy, the Others can follow my profile control, shared profile links and public playlists. Amazon specifically notes that a profile may still be encountered through a shared link or public playlist.
You changed information but still see the old value
Reopen the same account section and verify which service is displaying the value. A previous copy may be retained under Amazon’s privacy practices, and a service-specific profile may legitimately show a different value from the shopping account. Check the field in its original editor rather than assuming the update failed.
The labels look different on your device
Use the function, not only the wording, to find the setting. Start at Your Account, then look for the security section, payments section or Amazon Music profile controls. Amazon notes that account pages can differ by marketplace, app version and account state.
A safe checklist before you finish
- Identify whether you are changing account access, payment and billing information, general account information or an Amazon Music profile.
- Start from the matching page: Your Account, Login & security, Your payments or Amazon Music profile controls.
- Check the marketplace, app or web-player context if the labels differ.
- Save one category at a time and verify the displayed value afterward.
- For Amazon Music, inspect both Profile Privacy and public playlist visibility.
- Remember that Amazon Music profile edits do not automatically update the regular Amazon account.
- For payment changes, keep Amazon Pay’s stated scope in mind: website changes apply to Amazon Pay and Amazon websites.
- Review communication preferences separately from contact details.
- Assume that an updated current value and a retained prior copy are separate privacy questions.
