To enable live streaming on an India-based YouTube channel, verify the channel with a phone number: in YouTube Studio, go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility → Intermediate features → VERIFY PHONE NUMBER. Enter a number, choose a text message or voice call, and submit the code. Then check Feature eligibility to confirm the channel’s access. Verification alone does not guarantee that you can go live: YouTube also requires no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days and that the person streaming is at least 16.
Verify your channel by phone
- Sign in to the Google account that owns or controls the channel, then open YouTube Studio.
- Select Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Expand Intermediate features and select VERIFY PHONE NUMBER.
- Enter a phone number and choose to receive the code by text message or automated voice call.
- Enter the code, submit it, then return to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and check the status shown for the channel. YouTube also offers the browser route youtube.com/verify.
YouTube says phone verification provides access to intermediate features, including live streaming, custom thumbnails, and uploads longer than 15 minutes. Its India-specific help page says a “phone verified” label is added to the channel’s About page and is visible to users in India on computer, mobile, or the YouTube app. YouTube attributes that label to the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021; this is YouTube’s explanation of the label, not legal advice. YouTube Help: Get ‘phone verified’ as an India-based channel.
Check the other live-stream eligibility requirements
YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. YouTube also requires live streams to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and says it may restrict live streaming. Check the channel’s Feature eligibility page rather than assuming that receiving a verification code settles every access issue. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
The Feature eligibility page shows which features are enabled. Live streaming on a computer is listed as an intermediate feature; YouTube says daily limits can vary by access tier. YouTube Help: Learn about feature access for YouTube Creators.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the verification code does not arrive
- Wait briefly, then request a fresh code. YouTube says codes usually arrive immediately, though delays can happen.
- Switch delivery method. If a text does not arrive after a few minutes, try the voice-call option.
- Try a different operator or number if needed. Some mobile operators may not support Google’s messages.
- Check the number limit. YouTube says a phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year. If the limit blocks you, use a different eligible number.
These are YouTube’s documented delivery and limit issues. YouTube Help: Verify your YouTube account.
If phone verification is complete but live streaming is unavailable
- Return to YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and review the status shown for intermediate features.
- Check whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Confirm that the person who will stream is at least 16.
- If Studio shows a restriction or access remains unavailable, follow the channel-specific notice and YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance; do not assume that buying equipment or repeating phone verification will clear an account restriction.
Phone verification is the ordinary step for intermediate features. Advanced-feature access is a separate tier: YouTube describes it as requiring phone verification followed by sufficient channel history, or identity verification by ID or video where available. ID and video verification are not available to every creator, and they are not the default live-stream verification step. YouTube says only the primary channel owner can verify identity in the advanced-feature workflow. Its phone-verification help separately describes Brand Account and non-Brand channel roles, so use the owner account and follow the prompts Studio presents. Choose how to broadcast after the channel qualifies
Verification is an account-access step; your broadcast method is a separate choice. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming options. A webcam is a direct computer option, an encoder suits overlays or external audio/video equipment, and a console can stream from the device. None replaces phone verification.
