Do not preorder from a leak alone. A leaked LEGO list becomes credible only after you match each claimed set to LEGO’s own newsroom or Shop catalog, confirm the set number and name on an official product page, and read the availability label for the exact country site you intend to use. LEGO’s product page must show Pre-Order and a shipping date before you treat a preorder through LEGO.com as confirmed. What “verified” means in practice
A spreadsheet, social post, fan-site article or retailer placeholder is a lead, not an announcement. Verification has three separate parts:

Search the newsroom and product announcements
Start with the LEGO Group’s official newsroom and product-announcement pages. Search the claimed set name, theme and any number supplied by the leak. Read the complete announcement rather than relying on a search-result snippet. Record whether LEGO supplies an official name, images, set number, release date or preorder information.

If the set is absent from the official newsroom and official Shop catalog you checked, describe it as not confirmed by LEGO in the sources checked. That absence is not proof that the leak is false: LEGO may announce products later, use a different regional catalog, or remove and replace a listing. It simply means the official evidence you examined does not yet corroborate the claim.
Separate an official announcement from a lead
A fan account, leaked spreadsheet or social post can point you toward a search, but the material should remain “rumored” or “unconfirmed” until an official LEGO source matches it. The official pages explain how LEGO announces products and handles availability; they do not establish that any particular leak account has a reliable track record.
Step 2: Use the set number as the identity check
Why the number matters
Names alone are unreliable. Different LEGO products can have similar or translated names, while a number is intended to identify one specific set. In LEGO’s help guidance, the company says: “We use numbers as a quick and convenient way to instantly identify any LEGO set.” LEGO says set numbers appear on product pages, packaging and instructions.

- Copy the complete number from the leak, including every digit. Do not add a leading zero or remove one because another list formats it differently.
- Search that number on the official LEGO site for your market.
- Open the product page, not just a search-result preview.
- Compare the official product name, theme, images and other displayed details with the leak.
- Save the page’s current availability label and stated shipping or release date.
A matching number with a different name, theme or image is a warning to investigate further. It may indicate a transcription error, a regional naming difference or an incorrect leak. Do not silently “correct” the leak and then present the corrected identity as confirmed.
If the leak has no set number
Do not invent a number from an unsourced list. You can search the claimed name and theme, but report that the identity has not been independently matched to an official product page until LEGO supplies a number or an unmistakable product page.
Step 3: Read the actual availability status
Open the product page for the exact set and read its current status. A catalog heading such as Coming Soon is not the same as an order button that says Pre-Order.

LEGO’s UK help page expresses the distinction this way: “The set is coming soon and available to pre-order! Use the local LEGO site and the terms shown there for a reader in another market.

Record the market and the date
Write down the country or regional LEGO site you checked and the date of the check. Product pages, prices, release windows and preorder buttons can change. A statement such as “LEGO has opened preorders” is too broad if you saw the button only on one regional site.
Step 4: Check an independent retailer separately
If you plan to order from a store other than LEGO, search for the exact set on that retailer’s own website. Confirm all of the following before paying:
- the complete set number and product name;
- the product photographs and description;
- an explicit preorder label rather than a generic “notify me” or “coming soon” message;
- the expected dispatch or delivery date;
- the identity of the seller and whether the listing is marketplace-based;
- the currency, region, cancellation rules, payment timing and return terms;
- whether the item is described as new, used, opened or otherwise graded.
LEGO’s buying guidance makes clear that independent retailer websites are not LEGO websites and that their products may be new or used. A store’s listing therefore proves only what that seller is offering under its own terms. It does not establish that LEGO is accepting orders or that another retailer has stock.
Do not treat a placeholder as a preorder
Retailers sometimes publish a product page before they know a final price or allocation. “Register interest,” “email when available,” and “coming soon” are not equivalent to a paid preorder. Look for the seller’s exact order language, the point at which payment is taken and the stated release or shipping date.

Step 5: Compare competing listings without losing the distinctions
When two lists or stores disagree, compare them on the same six axes:

The number returns no LEGO result
Check for a typing error and search the claimed name as a second pass. If neither search finds an official product page, mark the identity as unmatched. Do not fill the gap with a number copied from another leak.

The number matches, but the details do not
Preserve the discrepancy in your notes. A different name, image or theme can signal a false listing or a regional naming issue. Until the conflict is resolved by an official page or announcement, do not describe the leaked details as confirmed.
LEGO announced the set, but the page says Coming Soon
The announcement confirms that LEGO has disclosed the product; the status still does not confirm that orders are open. Wait for the exact product page to display Pre-Order if you need to establish that a LEGO preorder can be placed.
A retailer accepts orders, but LEGO has no listing
Report the retailer’s offer as that retailer’s own listing. Verify its seller, condition, region, expected date and cancellation terms. The listing may be early, incomplete or based on information that LEGO has not yet published; it is not official confirmation.
A page disappears after you record it
Use the evidence you saved—set number, page title, status, market and date—and label the result as time-specific. Do not claim that a removed page proves either a leak or a product was genuine. Recheck the official newsroom and catalog before ordering.
Regional and date limits that change the answer
LEGO availability is product- and market-specific. A preorder button on a UK page does not guarantee a US, Canadian, Australian or other regional preorder. Prices, taxes, currency, shipping dates and cancellation terms can also differ.

Regional announcements can provide useful context without proving worldwide availability. For example, a news post from The Pokémon Company’s UK site may describe preorder information for LEGO Pokémon products in that region; it should not be treated as evidence that every LEGO market has opened orders. Always return to the LEGO product page for the country in which the order will be placed.
Price, payment and order-term checks
A price displayed beside a rumored set is not evidence that the product is genuine. Compare the currency and tax treatment with the market you intend to use, and note whether the retailer charges immediately, places an authorization, or waits until dispatch. Check shipping wording carefully. “Release date,” “dispatch date” and “estimated delivery” describe different events. LEGO’s UK explanation says shipping starts on the preorder date; an independent store may use a different definition. Record the exact wording and seller, especially when a listing promises an arrival date rather than merely a release window.
Using links and shopping recommendations responsibly
If you link readers to a LEGO building set or retailer, link only to a specific product page that you have verified for the relevant region. Do not use an affiliate link to imply that a rumored set is available. Recheck regional listing and program eligibility, and disclose that availability, price and terms can change. A generic shopping search cannot confirm a leaked product’s identity or preorder status.
A practical evidence log
Before you decide, create one short record for each claimed set:
- Claim: copy the leaked name, number and promised release date exactly.

- Official status: copy the displayed label and shipping date, if any.
