You can browse many features without signing in; services that need secure access may ask you to authenticate with a Digital ID through the myID app. This guide covers setup, navigation, claims and common fixes. The available services and offers can change.
What you can do with ServiceWA
ServiceWA has grown beyond its COVID-era role as a government-services hub. Depending on what is currently available, you can use it to find payments and rebates, check FuelWatch prices, record learner-driver hours with Learn&Log, view SharkSmart sightings and warnings, use FishCatchWA, search Unclaimed Money and view Weather Station information. It also links to resources such as Rottnest accommodation, parks, public holidays, driver-licence checks and vehicle-licence renewal. See the current services and features page for the latest list.
Some services are integrated with the app; others are links to a separate WA Government website or service. ServiceWA is not a replacement for every government website or agency app. The WA Government describes the app as free; your mobile provider may still charge for data.
What you need before you start
For browsing
- An iPhone or Android phone that meets the current requirements.
- Internet access and ServiceWA installed from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
The WA Government currently lists iOS 17 or later and Android 14 or later as supported. Requirements can change; check the ServiceWA support hub if your phone cannot install or update the app.

For secure services
Some offers and services require a Digital ID through the Australian Government’s myID app. You may need a personal email address, a smartphone, a mobile number that can receive SMS, and eligible identity documents. WA Government guidance says you must be over 15 to set up the relevant Digital ID and generally need at least Standard identity strength for secure ServiceWA services.
Potential documents include an Australian driver’s licence or learner’s permit, birth certificate, citizenship certificate, eligible visa and foreign passport, ImmiCard, passport expired no more than three years, or Medicare card. The myID process determines which documents and combination will work; having two documents from this list does not guarantee verification. Follow WA Government instructions for getting a Digital ID.
Download and open the app
- Open the Apple App Store or Google Play on your phone.
- Search for ServiceWA and check that the publisher is the Western Australian Government.
- Install the app and follow its initial prompts.
- Open the app and browse available features. You do not need to create a Digital ID just to look around.
Use an official app-store listing or the download links on the support hub, rather than an unofficial download site.
Set up myID when a service requires it
Do not confuse the two steps: setting up myID creates or maintains your Digital ID; signing into ServiceWA uses that ID to authenticate you for selected services. You can download ServiceWA and browse first, then create myID when a service asks for secure access. If you expect to claim an offer, setting it up in advance may save time.
- Install the myID app from your phone’s official app store.
- Use a personal email address and enter the details requested by myID.
- Verify your identity using the documents and instructions presented in the app.
- Complete setup to the identity strength required by the ServiceWA service.
If you previously used myGovID, the Australian Government Digital ID app is now called myID. WA Government guidance says existing login details and identity strength continue to work. Some login screens may still display the old name. If you already have myID, use the same email address as before; the WA Government warns that using another address can lock myID across devices.

Sign in to ServiceWA
- Open ServiceWA and tap the profile or account icon, currently shown near the top-right of the screen.
- Choose the login option and select Digital ID or myID.
- Follow the redirect to the Australian Government Digital ID system and authenticate in myID.
- Return to ServiceWA. If asked, add your mobile number and enter the six-digit SMS verification code.
- Open Discovery to find and enable the services you want.
Current WA Government guidance says a profile icon indicates you are not logged in, while your initials indicate a Digital ID login. If your layout differs, open the account area and check the sign-in status.
Find and open services
Use Discovery
Discovery is the app’s directory. Browse or search for government services, revisit recently used items, explore linkable or popular services, and find the Offers area. Enable or open the service you need. You can personalise the Home screen to make frequently used services easier to reach.
Browse Offers
Offers may include payments, rebates and other benefits. The official current-offers list has included the WA Student Assistance Payment, Fuel Support Payment, Tackle Shop Rebate, Kids Access All Areas Vouchers, Treebate, WA Tree Recovery Program, Synergy refunds and Foster and Grand Carer Gold Card. This is not a permanent list: check the current offers page for availability, eligibility and claim dates.
Claim an offer through ServiceWA
The exact form depends on the offer. In general, sign in if prompted, open Discovery, choose Offers, select the offer, read its eligibility and claim instructions, then enter the requested information and submit. You may need identity, licence, student or bank-account details. Use the offer’s official page to confirm eligibility and deadlines before submitting.
Example: Fuel Support Payment
The WA Government describes this as a one-off $100 payment for eligible Western Australians, with the ServiceWA claim route available until 31 December 2026. This is a dated offer, not a recurring app payment; check the official Fuel Support Payment page for eligibility and current terms.

- Sign in by choosing Continue with Digital ID, then myID.
- Enter the email address associated with myID. Note the four-digit code shown in ServiceWA.
- Open myID, enter that code and tap Accept, then return to ServiceWA.
- Open Discovery, tap Offers, and select Fuel Support Payment.
- Tap Find out more, then Claim now.
- Enter the requested driver-licence details. Choose whether to donate the payment or continue with the claim.
- Enter the Australian bank-account details requested and submit.
- Check the ServiceWA Inbox for a claim reference and subsequent outcome.
Example: 2026 WA Student Assistance Payment
The 2026 claim window ran from 20 July to 25 September 2026, so it had closed by 28 September 2026. For reference, the 2026 payment was $150 for each eligible Kindergarten and primary student and $250 for each eligible secondary student. The official guidance covered eligible students enrolled in WA public or non-government schools and registered home-educated students within stated year levels. Requirements included a Standard-strength Digital ID, student number, name, date of birth, school and year level, plus bank details. See the 2026 payment guidance for those dated rules and any updates.
For successful app claims, the stated expected payment time was about seven working days; alternative claims could take up to 30 days because of manual identity verification. These estimates applied to that offer and were not guarantees for every claim.

Open the app’s Inbox for ServiceWA messages, including updates associated with claims. Messages show their delivery date and time, and opened messages are marked Read. After submitting a claim, look for a confirmation screen and then check the Inbox for a reference or status message. If the offer gives a processing estimate, allow that period before treating the absence of a bank deposit as a failure.
Manage account and app settings
The account area can be used to update personal details, manage notifications and enabled services, adjust accessibility settings, get help or view the app tour, and review privacy and terms information. The app also has an optional four-digit PIN and biometric options. You can skip PIN setup when prompted and change PIN or biometric settings later.
A ServiceWA PIN or biometric setting is an app-level convenience and protection choice; it does not create or replace the Digital ID used for secure authentication. For FuelWatch, allowing location access can help show nearby fuel information and directions while using the app. Location access is optional, not a requirement for all ServiceWA features.

The WA Government says personal information is not sold or shared for commercial purposes. Read the app’s About ServiceWA page and terms of use for its statements about privacy and service use. Digital ID is an identity-verification method for selected services; it does not replace physical identity documents in every setting. myID is distinct from myGov, which is a separate Australian Government account and service platform.
Fix common ServiceWA problems
“Oops! Something went wrong” or a page will not load
- Check that your phone has an internet connection.
- Wait about 10 minutes, return to ServiceWA and try again.
- Check the official app store for an update, then restart the app or phone if needed.
- If the problem continues, contact ServiceWA support. If it happens during myID authentication or document verification, use myID’s support route rather than assuming the ServiceWA app caused it.
Setting the phone’s date and time automatically is also a sensible check for authentication problems, though it is not a substitute for the official support process.
myID cannot verify your identity
Check for a mismatch in your name or personal details, an unsuitable document, or an error in a document number such as the birth-certificate registration number. If you previously created myID, try the same email address instead of registering again with another one. For identity-verification errors, follow the official Digital ID guidance rather than repeatedly retrying or creating additional accounts. Name-change and marriage documents may help in some cases, but accepted pathways depend on the documents and jurisdiction.
SMS code does not arrive
Confirm the mobile number you entered is correct and can receive SMS, then allow time for delivery and retry once. If you still cannot verify, contact ServiceWA support; do not share a verification code with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Address is missing from suggestions
Scroll past the suggested addresses and choose Add address manually if that option appears.

The app asks you to create a PIN
The PIN is optional. Choose Skip for now if you do not want to set it up, or manage PIN and biometrics later in settings.
You cannot install or update the app
Check your phone’s operating-system version against the current minimums on the support hub. An unsupported phone may prevent use of the app, but the relevant agency may offer another route for a particular service.
Your claim is not visible or payment has not arrived
Check the confirmation screen and Inbox for a reference or status. Then compare elapsed time with the processing estimate on that offer’s official page. Contact the offer administrator about eligibility or payment status; contact ServiceWA if the app itself is failing to display or submit information.
Can you use ServiceWA without Digital ID?
Yes. Many features can be browsed or used without signing in. Digital ID is needed for selected secure services and offers, not for every screen in the app. If you do not have a compatible device, suitable identity documents, reliable internet access or wish to use Digital ID, check the specific benefit’s alternative claim methods rather than assuming the app is the only option. For the 2026 Student Assistance Payment, WA offered online and printable alternatives involving manual identity checks; those methods could take longer.
