Quack has no activation button: whenever it gains progress, every other Sprite in your match inventory receives an additional 50% of that progress automatically.
To turn that shared progress into permanent mastery, raise a Sprite to Level 5 and extract it. The mastery remains unlocked even if that Sprite is later lost and returns to Level 1.

What the Quack Sprite effect actually does
Quack is a Sprite variant whose special benefit is progression sharing rather than a separate attack. Your equipped Quack Sprite continues to use its ordinary in-match power. Its distinctive effect is applied when Quack itself gains Sprite progress: each other Sprite you are carrying receives an extra amount equal to 50% of the progress Quack just earned.

The trigger is automatic. You do not press a key, activate an ability wheel, consume an item, or perform a special emote. Equip Quack, keep the other Sprites in your match inventory, and then perform the activities that award Sprite progress in that version of Battle Royale.

These examples show the rule, not a promised amount for a particular activity. If Quack earns a progress amount P, every other carried Sprite gets an extra 0.5P. Carrying more eligible Sprites increases the total shared bonus, but it does not increase the 50% applied to each individual Sprite.
What Quack does not do
- It does not replace the equipped Sprite’s base power with a combat attack.
- It does not grant a one-time burst that you must manually trigger.
- It does not level Sprites that are merely unlocked in your collection but absent from the current match inventory.
- It does not make competitive playlists eligible; Epic’s support guidance says Sprites are unavailable in competitive modes.
Requirements before you queue
Unlock Quack through Sprite Mastery
Quack is a Sprite Mastery reward, not an ordinary shop purchase. Epic’s v41.30 Battle Royale notes place the Quack variant in Part 4 of Sprite Mastery. The v42.40 Fortnite Override notes confirm that the final mastery page includes new Quack Sprites. Open the current in-game Sprite Mastery track and check which page or reward is available in your build; the page layout can change with updates.
Use an eligible playlist
Start a regular, non-competitive Battle Royale match. Competitive modes do not provide Sprites, so entering one of those playlists cannot produce Quack progress or the sharing effect. If you are testing the mechanic, select the ordinary Battle Royale queue rather than assuming that every mode using the Battle Royale rules supports Sprites.

Prepare the match inventory
Decide which Sprite will be equipped and which others you want to advance. Quack must be the active or equipped Sprite for the sharing trigger to occur. The Sprites you want to benefit must be carried in the same match inventory. A Sprite left in the collection, locker, or another menu is not a carried participant in that match.
Step-by-step: activate Quack’s sharing effect
- Confirm the unlock. In the current Sprite Mastery screen, verify that a Quack variant is available to your account. If the reward is still locked, complete the preceding mastery requirements shown in your live track.
- Launch a non-competitive Battle Royale match. Do not use a competitive playlist, because Sprites are not available there.
- Equip Quack as the active Sprite. Select Quack for your character in the match so that Quack, rather than another variant, is the Sprite currently being used.
- Carry the Sprites you want to level. Place the other target Sprites in your match inventory. The 50% share is calculated separately for every other Sprite you are carrying.
- Earn progress through normal play. Exploration, eliminations, extraction and other progression actions can raise the equipped Sprite’s progress, depending on the current version’s rules. You do not need to look for a Quack-only interaction.
- Allow the automatic share to apply. When Quack receives progress, each other carried Sprite receives its additional 50% share at that trigger. There is no separate confirmation button.
- Finish the mastery run correctly. Continue until the Sprite you are trying to master reaches Level 5, then extract it. Extraction is part of the mastery requirement; reaching Level 5 alone is not enough.
How to level several Sprites efficiently
Choose the right active power
Quack’s bonus is most valuable when your objective is to advance several Sprites at once. The active Sprite’s ordinary power still matters during the match, so choose a playlist and loadout in which that base power is useful. If survival or combat is the immediate priority, a different active variant may provide more practical utility even though it does not provide Quack’s shared progression.

Carry targets deliberately
Every other carried Sprite is an individual recipient of the 50% bonus. That makes Quack a good fit for a collection session in which you bring multiple low-level targets rather than only one Sprite. Carrying a target that you do not intend to level does not improve your own outcome; it simply receives a share whenever Quack progresses.
Understand the arithmetic
Suppose Quack earns 80 progress from an eligible action. One other carried Sprite receives 40 extra progress. Two other carried Sprites receive 40 each, for 80 extra progress distributed in total. Quack’s own 80 remains its own progress; the shared amounts are additional progress for the other Sprites.
The game’s activity values can vary by version and action. Do not assume that an elimination, exploration event, or extraction always awards the same amount. The reliable planning rule is to watch the progress amount credited to Quack, then apply half of that amount to each other carried Sprite.
Plan around extraction risk
Mastery requires both the Level 5 threshold and a successful extraction. A match that produces substantial progress but ends before extraction may not complete the mastery objective. Treat the extraction phase as part of the run, not as an optional final step, and avoid carrying more targets than you can reasonably protect when your priority is permanent mastery.
Sprite mastery, extraction and loss
The permanent milestone
Epic support documentation states that a Sprite is mastered after it reaches Level 5 and is extracted. Once mastered, that achievement is permanent. You do not have to repeat the mastery track every time you use the Sprite.

What happens if a Sprite is lost
Quackadex and Epic’s support information describe a loss behavior in which a Sprite can reset to Level 1 after it is lost. That reset affects the Sprite’s current level, not the permanent mastery record. In practical terms, a previously mastered Sprite remains mastered even if a later match causes that individual Sprite to return to Level 1.

- Equip Quack and carry the Sprite you want to advance.
- Use normal progression actions until the target reaches Level 5.
- Prioritize the extraction objective before taking unnecessary risks.
- Confirm that the extraction has completed and that the mastery record is saved.
- If the Sprite is later lost and shows Level 1 again, distinguish that temporary level from the permanent mastery status.
Unlock thresholds and Quack variants can change
Epic confirms the Sprite Mastery reward path but does not publish one definitive threshold table in the official material cited for this mechanic. Community reports have used different numbers and sometimes appear to mean different things: a mastery-track level in one account, or the number of Sprites mastered in another. Treat any exact threshold quoted outside the current in-game track as approximate unless Epic publishes a matching table.
Variant names are also version-sensitive. A report dated October 15, 2026 lists five Quack variants for Chapter 7 Season 4: Jonesy, Bush, Adventure, Spooky Dash and Klombo. Earlier July-era coverage described four variants. These lists should be read with their season and date attached; a later update can add a reward page, rename a reward, or move its position on the mastery track.
When an update changes the mastery pages, use the live in-game reward screen as the authority for what your account can unlock. Do not assume that a threshold, variant count, or page number from an earlier season still applies.

You are in a competitive mode
This is the first eligibility check. Sprites are not available in competitive modes. Leave the competitive playlist and start a non-competitive Battle Royale match before testing Quack.

Quack is carried but not equipped
Having Quack somewhere in the inventory is not enough. The sharing trigger is tied to progress earned by the equipped Quack Sprite. Re-select Quack as the active Sprite, then earn a new progression event.
The target Sprite is not in the match inventory
The bonus applies to every other Sprite you are carrying in that match. A Sprite that remains only in your account collection, locker, or mastery menu cannot receive the in-match share. Add the intended targets before beginning the progression run.
Quack has not earned a new progress event
The effect is event-driven. It does not award a periodic allowance merely because Quack is equipped. Perform an action that the current version recognizes for Sprite progress, then check whether Quack itself advanced. If Quack did not gain progress, there is no new 50% amount to distribute.
You are expecting a combat ability
Quack’s special contribution is progression assistance. The ordinary power of the equipped Sprite remains the relevant in-match power. If you are waiting for a projectile, attack, shield or other direct combat animation, you are looking for a behavior that this effect does not promise.

Mastery pages and variant availability have changed between updates. If a guide’s Part, level, or variant count does not match your current game, follow the reward track displayed in your client. The official notes identify the Part 4 route and the final-page additions, but they do not establish a universal current threshold table.
The match ended before extraction
Level 5 is only one part of mastery. If the Sprite was not extracted, the run may not produce the permanent mastery milestone. Re-enter with the same plan and reserve enough time and resources for extraction.
Quack or another Sprite: which should you equip?
The choice depends on whether your priority is mass progression or the active Sprite’s base power. Use the following comparison framework rather than treating Quack as a universal best choice.

There is no separate activation trade-off to manage: once Quack is equipped and the conditions are met, its sharing is passive. The strategic decision is whether the 50% progress for each other carried Sprite is worth giving up the base power of another active variant for that match.
Quick pre-match checklist
- Quack is unlocked through the current Sprite Mastery track.
- The playlist is non-competitive Battle Royale.
- Quack is equipped as the active Sprite.
- Every Sprite you want to level is in the same match inventory.
- You know which progression actions are available in the current update.
- You have a plan to reach Level 5 and complete extraction.
With those conditions met, simply play the match. Quack’s 50% sharing is applied automatically each time Quack gains progress; there is no hidden button or manual activation step.
