What the Treasure Car photo clue tells you
Treasure Cars are abandoned vehicles that you can find, restore, and add to your collection. In its May 15, 2026 starting guide, Playground Games says players can “Continue to discover new roads and locations to obtain photo clues of Treasure Cars.” Its car-culture article likewise explains that players explore the map and use the provided photo to figure out where the cars are.

That describes a clue-image and exploration loop. It does not establish that Photo Mode reveals coordinates, marks the map, or completes a clue. Treat Photo Mode as a separate photography feature unless current in-game help says otherwise.

How to match the photo to the map
The official material describes the clue’s purpose, but does not publish a step-by-step matching technique. The following is a practical way to search visually, not an official sequence or guaranteed mechanic.

- Study the image for distinctive details. Focus on a few recognizable features: a building or structure, the road’s shape, terrain, and nearby landmarks. Avoid relying on a generic feature such as “trees” if the image contains something more specific.
- Use the map to narrow the search area. Look for regions and roads whose layout or surroundings resemble the image. Treat the overall landscape and road geometry as clues, then check for the more distinctive structure.
- Compare what you see in the world. Visit plausible locations and compare the surroundings with the photo. If the road shape or landmark does not fit, move on rather than assuming the first similar-looking place is correct.
- Recheck the clue when uncertain. Compare the same visible features again instead of guessing from a single detail. The supplied photo is the reference; the official explanation does not describe a separate coordinate or marker system.
When Photo Mode helps—and what it does not establish
Photo Mode may be useful if you want to take or inspect your own image, provided the current controls on your platform support what you want to do. The available official guidance does not say that you need Photo Mode to inspect a Treasure Car clue, nor does it give platform-specific button prompts for clue-solving. Check the current in-game help for your platform rather than relying on button instructions from another version or system.
Forza’s campaign article discusses the Collection Journal and says you can replace a photograph with a better one later. That documents a photography and record-keeping activity; it is not evidence that Photo Mode is required to locate a Treasure Car.

Treasure Cars are not automatically weekly Treasure Hunt challenges
“Treasure Hunt” can also refer to timed Festival Playlist challenges. The official material cited here explains Treasure Car photo clues, not the current location or instructions for a weekly challenge. Do not assume a Treasure Car clue and a timed Playlist challenge use the same steps; check the specific challenge’s current in-game description or a current guide for that event.
Choose how much help you want
If you want to discover the location yourself, landmark matching keeps the search focused while leaving the solve to you. An external walkthrough can be faster, but it may reveal the answer outright. Neither is a separate official game mechanic: they are simply different ways to approach the photo clue.

For context, Playground Games said Forza Horizon 6 became available in Early Access on May 15, 2026, and to everyone on May 19, 2026, in its starting guide. Xbox Wire’s May 18, 2026 launch guide lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud; Playground Games’ April 8, 2026 map announcement names Xbox Series X|S and PC. Platform offers can change after launch, so check current availability for your region.
