Pair your Samsung Galaxy phone with your Chromebook from Settings > Connected devices > Android phone, then choose which Phone Hub features to enable. Phone Hub can surface phone status, notifications, recent photos, Chrome tabs, and quick controls on the Chromebook. For file transfers, use Quick Share instead. Samsung is not among the phone models Google currently lists for Phone Hub app streaming, so pairing does not mean you can stream your phone’s apps to the Chromebook.
Pair a Samsung phone with your Chromebook
Google’s Phone Hub setup requires a Chromebook running ChromeOS M89 or later and an Android phone running Android 5.1 or later. Turn on Bluetooth on both devices before starting.

- On the Chromebook, open Settings > Connected devices.
- Next to Android phone, choose Set up. You can also open the Phone Hub icon near the system time and start setup there.
- Select or confirm your Samsung phone, then follow the on-screen prompts to finish pairing.
- Return to Settings > Connected devices, select the connected phone, and enable the individual features you want to use.
Google’s separate guide to broader Android-phone connections gives different minimums: ChromeOS 71 or later and Android 6 or later. Those requirements apply to the features described in that guide, such as texting, chat notifications, photo syncing, phone-network connection, and Chromebook unlock; they are not a replacement for the M89 and Android 5.1 Phone Hub requirements. Work- or school-managed Chromebooks may have phone features disabled by an administrator. If setup or a feature toggle is unavailable, management policy may be the reason.

What Phone Hub lets you do
Google describes Phone Hub as a way to use phone features from the Chromebook screen. It acts as a control surface for selected functions; your Samsung remains the connected Android phone.
- Check phone status: See the phone’s cellular signal and battery status.
- Use quick actions: Enable the phone’s hotspot, silence the phone, or locate it.
- View phone activity: See Chrome tabs from the Android phone and manage or sync notifications, depending on the options enabled.
- Get recent images: Access or download recent photos and screenshots from the phone’s Gallery.
These features can still be used when the Chromebook is offline, according to Google, although verifying a connection and some capabilities may still require connectivity. Each feature is managed separately in the connected-phone settings, so pairing alone does not necessarily turn everything on. Phone Hub and Quick Share do different jobs
Phone Hub provides phone information, controls, notifications, tabs, and recent images. Quick Share is for transferring files you choose. Samsung documents the following Quick Share workflow for Galaxy Chromebook Plus; on another Chromebook model, check Settings > Connected devices to see whether Quick Share is available and how it is configured.

Phone Hub does not stream apps from Samsung phones
Google’s current Phone Hub app-streaming list includes Pixel 4a or later on Android 13 or later, Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2), and selected Xiaomi models—the 12T, 12T Pro, 13, and 13 Pro—on Android 13 or later. Samsung is not on that list. Meeting Phone Hub’s general Android version minimum does not make a Samsung phone eligible for app streaming.
For the supported models, Google says both devices must share Wi-Fi and be near one another; some public or private networks may not work, and DRM restrictions can affect entertainment apps. [Google Chromebook Help: Set up and use Phone Hub]

Installing an Android app on the Chromebook is a separate option
If your Chromebook supports Google Play, you may be able to download Android apps directly to the Chromebook. This installs an app on the Chromebook; it does not mirror or stream the copy running on your Samsung phone. Phone apps do not automatically copy across, and compatibility varies. Work or school administrators may also disable Play Store access. [Google Chromebook Help: Install & use Android apps on your Chromebook]

Unlock the Chromebook with your phone
Google’s Smart Lock guidance requires the Chromebook to be online and connected to the same Google Account as the phone. The phone must run Android L-MR1 or later, be unlocked, have Bluetooth enabled, and have a screen lock configured. Google says Smart Lock is on by default after phone connection, but you can turn it off in Settings > Connected devices. [Google Chromebook Help: Unlock your Chromebook with your Android phone]
Connect through the phone’s hotspot
Phone Hub offers a quick command to enable a hotspot, and Google’s broader phone-connection instructions also cover connecting a Chromebook to a phone network. Availability depends on device compatibility and settings. If the phone-network control is missing, check the Chromebook’s phone-network connection controls and the phone’s hotspot settings. [Google Chromebook Help: Connect to your phone’s network]
Quick Recap
If a feature is missing
- Check that the Chromebook and phone meet the version requirements for the specific workflow, rather than applying one minimum to every feature.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and the phone appears under Settings > Connected devices.
- Open the connected-phone settings and check that the feature’s own toggle is enabled.
- For Quick Share, check the Chromebook’s visibility setting and confirm that the feature is offered on your model.
- On a managed Chromebook, ask the administrator whether phone integration or Play Store access is restricted.
