To stream a recorded Kannada sermon with a church logo, add the video to an OBS scene as a Media Source, add the logo as an Image Source above it, check audio and framing, then connect OBS to your chosen live-streaming destination. YouTube Live is one example; the encoder setup differs on other platforms.
What you need before opening OBS
- The sermon recording saved on the computer that will run OBS.
- A logo image file. PNG is a useful choice when you want a transparent background; OBS supports alpha where the image format provides it.
- OBS Studio installed, plus an internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream settings you choose.
- A live-streaming destination and its encoder connection details. If using YouTube, you will need its server URL and stream key.
OBS Media Source supports common video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. Image Source supports BMP, TGA, PNG, JPEG, JPG and GIF. Format support alone does not guarantee that a particular file will play correctly, so preview the actual sermon and confirm its sound and any visible Kannada text before the service. See the OBS Media Sources guide and OBS Image Sources guide.

Build the sermon scene and place the logo
- Create a scene. In the Scenes panel, add a scene for the service and give it a clear name, such as “Kannada Sermon.”
- Add the recording. In Sources, select the plus button, choose Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the sermon file. Check the preview to make sure the intended video appears.
- Add the logo. Select the Sources plus button again, choose Image, and select the church logo file.
- Set the layer order. In the Sources list, put the logo above the Media Source. Higher sources appear over lower ones. Select the logo in the preview to resize and move it.
- Choose a discreet position. Place it where it does not obscure the speaker, scripture, or subtitles. Check the result at the output size, not just while zoomed into the OBS canvas.
OBS documents adding sources, changing their order, and moving or resizing them in the preview in its Sources guide.

For a single scheduled sermon
Normally leave Loop off. Confirm the recording starts at the correct point and decide what viewers should see when it ends. Media Source offers controls including restarting playback when the source becomes active and showing nothing after playback ends; choose according to whether the sermon is the whole broadcast or one part of a longer service.

For a sermon intended to repeat
Turn on Loop in the Media Source settings and test the transition from the end back to the beginning. Do not assume a one-time service should loop: the choice changes what viewers see after the recording finishes.
For a playlist
OBS also offers VLC Video for playlist use and extended media support. OBS says VLC must be installed and its bitness must match 64-bit OBS. Test the playlist and transitions before relying on them in a service. The playback options are described in the Media Sources guide.

Check audio, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate
A visible video does not confirm that the sermon audio is reaching the stream. Play the recording and watch the audio mixer meters. Listen through the computer and, where practical, through a separate test stream. If meters do not move or the wrong sound is captured, check the selected audio devices manually; the OBS Quick Start Guide covers audio checks.
In OBS output and video settings, choose a resolution, frame rate, and bitrate that your destination accepts and your computer and upload connection can sustain. There is no single safe bitrate for every setup: the destination’s limits and your available upload speed matter. A mostly static sermon recording may not need 60 fps, and 60 fps can demand more resources than 30 fps. Use the file and destination as guides rather than assuming a preset will fit. OBS explains these trade-offs in its Studio Overview Guide; YouTube’s current encoder guidance is on its live encoder settings page.

Connect OBS to a live destination
YouTube Live example
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream.
- Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from YouTube into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check YouTube’s incoming preview and stream health before making the broadcast public or selecting the Live Control Room’s Go live step for a scheduled stream.
- Check that the correct sermon, audio, and logo appear in the platform preview. Use the destination’s workflow for ending the broadcast after the service.
YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before a service if the channel has never streamed live. Its encoder workflow is described in Create a live stream with an encoder. Other destinations have their own stream URL, key, and launch steps; do not assume YouTube instructions apply unchanged.
Rehearse before the service
- Run a short test using the same video and audio conditions planned for the broadcast.
- Check that the recording begins at the intended point and that looping or end-of-playback behavior matches the service plan.
- Inspect the destination preview for logo placement, legibility, audio, and any warning messages.
- For YouTube, review stream health and warnings while sending the test. Use representative motion and audio so the test reflects the actual sermon.
OBS encourages testing before a first live stream; the Quick Start Guide and YouTube’s encoder settings guidance explain what to check. A Kannada-language file, subtitle workflow, or particular computer is not covered by a universal guarantee: inspect the exact recording, text, and hardware you plan to use.

Troubleshoot common problems
| What you see | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Video plays, but sermon audio is missing | The intended audio source is not being captured or the wrong device is selected. | Play the recording, watch OBS mixer meters, check selected audio devices, and listen to a test stream. |
| Logo is hidden behind the video | The Image Source is below the Media Source in the Sources list. | Move the logo above the video source and confirm it appears in the preview. |
| Logo covers scripture, subtitles, or the speaker | The logo is too large or positioned over important content. | Resize and move it in the preview, then check at the actual output size. |
| Video ends unexpectedly or starts over | Loop, restart-on-activation, or end-of-playback behavior does not match the intended service. | Review Media Source playback settings and test the ending and restart behavior. |
| Destination does not receive the stream | The stream URL or key may be wrong, or the destination’s setup is incomplete. | Recheck the destination’s encoder details and OBS stream settings. Keep the stream key private. |
| Stream health warnings or unstable output | Chosen output settings may exceed the network or computer’s capacity, or conflict with destination guidance. | Check upload capacity, bitrate, resolution, frame rate, and the destination’s current recommendations; retest before going live. |
| VLC playlist source does not work | VLC may be absent or its bitness may not match 64-bit OBS. | Install the required VLC version with matching bitness and test playback. |
Copyright and YouTube channel considerations
Before broadcasting a recording, confirm that the church has permission to use the sermon, music, images, and any other material in it. A logo overlay does not grant rights to the underlying recording or music. Platform copyright rules and channel policies still apply; check the destination’s current requirements and resolve any rights questions before the service.

If the goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded recordings rather than operate an OBS computer for the broadcast, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and sends to YouTube only.
