To frame and take a still photo using your Canon DSLR’s rear LCD, use Live View. The exact button or switch depends on the camera model, so check that model’s Canon manual under “Live View” or “Live View shooting” rather than copying a control sequence from a different DSLR.
First, decide what you want the LCD to do
“Switch from the viewfinder to the LCD” can mean two different things:

- Compose a photo on the rear screen: activate Live View. Canon describes Live View on the EOS 2000D as shooting with on-screen previews (Canon EOS 2000D camera information).
- Change the information shown on a display: use the display or DISP controls described in your camera’s manual. Changing display information is not necessarily the same as starting Live View.
Find the Live View control for your camera
- Identify the camera’s model number, usually printed on the front or top of the body.
- Open the matching Canon manual and look for “Live View” or “Live View shooting.” Follow the button or switch instructions for that specific model.
- Use Live View to compose the still photo on the rear LCD, then take the photo using the procedure described in the manual.
Canon DSLR controls vary by model; there is no single button sequence established for every Canon DSLR. For example, the EOS 500D manual’s LCD-monitor instructions refer to the DISP button, but that model-specific display setting should not be treated as the universal Live View control (Canon EOS 500D user manual).

If you meant changing screen information
Look in the same model-specific manual for display, LCD monitor, or DISP instructions. Those controls may change the information visible on the screen without activating Live View, so choose the instructions that match your goal.

If Live View does not start
The available model-specific information does not establish a universal recovery sequence for a blank LCD or Live View that will not start. Check the manual for your exact model; if the instructions do not resolve it, the useful next details are the model number and what the LCD does when you try to start Live View.
