To capture an entire webpage with GoFullPage, open the page in Chrome or Firefox, click the GoFullPage extension icon (or press Alt+Shift+P), wait while the extension scrolls and assembles the page, then save the result as a PNG, JPEG or PDF. The completed capture opens in a new tab.
This guide covers installation, the exact capture workflow, output choices, very tall pages, PDFs, custom scrolling, privacy disclosures and practical fixes when a capture fails.
Install GoFullPage from the official browser store
GoFullPage is a browser extension, so install it through your browser’s official store rather than from a download site. The official listings are GoFullPage – Full Page Screen Capture in the Chrome Web Store and GoFullPage – Full Page Screen Capture in Firefox Add-ons. Check the developer name on the listing because the vendor’s FAQ warns about copycat extensions.
As checked on September 29, 2026, both listings showed version 8.9. Chrome reported an update on September 25, 2026, and Firefox reported an update on September 24, 2026. Store versions and update dates can change, so use the listing itself as the current reference.

Capture a full webpage with GoFullPage
1. Open the page you want to save
Navigate to the webpage and wait for its visible content to finish loading. A full-page capture is not a single screenshot of the current viewport: GoFullPage scrolls through successive sections and combines them. If a page loads content only after scrolling, give it time to render before starting.
2. Start the capture
Click the GoFullPage icon in the browser toolbar. You can also press Alt+Shift+P; both the Chrome and Firefox listings document that shortcut. The extension begins moving down the page and recording each visible section.
3. Let the extension assemble the image
Keep the tab open while GoFullPage works. It captures the page as it scrolls, stitches the sections together and opens the completed result in a new tab. Interrupting the tab, navigating away or closing the browser can prevent assembly from finishing.

What GoFullPage actually captures
The extension produces a single representation of the webpage by taking multiple viewport captures during a controlled scroll. The result includes content that was below the fold, not just what was visible when you clicked the icon. This approach is why a long page takes longer than an ordinary screenshot and why page behavior during scrolling matters.
It is designed for regular webpages. A browser PDF viewer is a different document surface, and the GoFullPage FAQ says the extension cannot access PDF documents for scrolling capture. If the address opens a PDF rather than an HTML page, use the PDF viewer’s own download or print controls instead.

Limits to understand before you rely on a capture
Exceptionally tall pages
A single image can exceed what the browser is able to store. The Firefox listing says GoFullPage reports this condition and splits the result into multiple images in separate tabs. Treat that as a normal size limitation rather than evidence that the page itself is broken; download the parts and combine them with a document or image tool if you need one deliverable.
Custom scrolling regions
Some sites do not scroll the document in the usual way. They may place the article inside a panel, intercept wheel events or use custom JavaScript to control movement. The vendor FAQ cautions that such scrolling can prevent normal capture. If the page has a separate scrollable panel, try the site’s own export option or capture the panel with a tool that supports selecting an element.

Content that is still loading
Because GoFullPage records sections as it moves, late-loading text, images or components can appear inconsistently. Wait until the page has settled, dismiss overlays that cover the content and run the capture again. A second pass is often more useful than editing a stitched image that was assembled before the page finished rendering.

Troubleshooting GoFullPage captures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The icon is missing | The extension is installed but hidden in the toolbar. | Open the browser’s extensions menu and pin GoFullPage, then retry from the target tab. |
| Alt+Shift+P does nothing | The shortcut was not received by the browser or another action took focus. | Click the extension icon directly. Confirm you are on the webpage you intend to capture and try the shortcut again. |
| The result stops partway down | The page uses custom scrolling, content failed to load, or the capture hit a size limit. | Wait for the page, reload it and retry. If the page is exceptionally tall, expect multiple tabs or images. If scrolling is custom, use the site’s export function or another capture method. |
| A PDF does not capture | GoFullPage cannot access PDF documents for scrolling capture. | Download the PDF directly or use the PDF viewer’s print/save controls. |
| The screenshot contains missing or misplaced sections | Elements changed while the extension was scrolling. | Let the page finish loading, close transient popups and start a fresh capture without switching tabs. |
| The capture page opens but editing controls are limited | Crop, annotation and emoji editing are Premium editor features. | Use the basic download controls, or review the current Premium offering at GoFullPage’s Premium page before subscribing. |
A repeatable workflow for accurate results
- Verify the target: confirm the address and that you are viewing the HTML page rather than a PDF document.
- Stabilize the page: wait for visible content to load and close banners or floating controls that obscure the page.
- Start from the top: scroll to the beginning before clicking GoFullPage so the assembled capture starts at the page’s first section.
- Run the capture: use the icon or Alt+Shift+P and leave the tab alone until the result opens.
- Inspect the result: check the top, middle and bottom for missing sections, duplicated seams or content that changed during scrolling.
- Choose the format: use PNG or JPEG for an image workflow and PDF when the recipient needs a document.
- Keep the original context: record the page URL and capture date alongside the file if it will be used for compliance, research or bug tracking.
Privacy information from the store listings
The Chrome Web Store listing says the developer disclosed that it will not collect or use user data. Mozilla’s listing says the developer reports no required data collection while separately identifying optional technical and interaction data. These are disclosures made in the browser-store listings, not an independent privacy or security audit. Review the current permissions and privacy statements in your browser before installing an extension for sensitive pages.
When an API is a better fit than a browser extension
GoFullPage is useful when you are already looking at a page and want a manual full-page file. An API is more suitable when a build pipeline, scheduled job or AI agent must capture pages without opening a browser window. ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: it removes consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and starts at $5 for 3,000 shots.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo accepts one GET request and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before the capture it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed. The response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the complete parameter list. The examples below use the requested Stripe URL; replace it with the page you need.
cURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Useful ScreenshotNeo options

- Use transparent backgrounds, image resizing, a chosen cache TTL, signed links for public
<img>tags, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. - Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify a migration.
