To change your Fortnite skin, open the Locker from the Lobby, select Character, choose an outfit, then click Back. Your Lobby avatar will display the selected cosmetics. Menu labels or placement may change with Fortnite updates.
Change your Fortnite outfit
- Launch Fortnite and go to the Lobby.
- Open the Locker tab.
- Select Character, then choose the outfit you want to use.
- Click Back to equip it. Your Lobby avatar reflects the selected cosmetics.
These are Epic Games’ current outfit-changing steps. Epic’s general instruction for equipping a Locker item is also to select it in Locker and click Back.

Change a default outfit’s style
Epic’s documented style-editing steps apply specifically to the Default Outfit; they do not establish that every outfit has selectable styles.

- In the outfit list, select the hanger-and-shirt icon at the upper left.
- Choose Default Outfit, then open its three-dot menu.
- Select Edit Styles and choose a Default Outfit on the Pick Outfit screen.

Randomize or find outfits in Locker
Randomize
To use the randomization control, open Locker, go to Character, select the three-dot menu, and choose Randomize. Epic’s instructions do not specify which items are included in the randomization pool.
Favorite and filter
Epic documents these Favorite controls for PC and consoles:
- Console: Navigate to the cosmetic in Locker and press and hold the left stick.
- PC: Navigate to the cosmetic, open the three-dot menu, and choose Favorite Item.
To find favorited cosmetics, open Sort + Filter, filter by Favorites, and apply that filter to the relevant cosmetic category. The documented controls are specific to these platforms; check the current interface on other devices. Epic’s guides cover equipping Locker items, randomizing an outfit, and adding items to Favorites.

If a skin is missing from your Locker
First check that Fortnite is using the Epic account where the outfit was purchased, earned, or claimed. Epic says items cannot be manually transferred between Epic accounts and remain on the account that acquired them.
If the item was bought on the wrong account, Epic says a recent purchase might be returnable and repurchasable on the intended account only if it is still in the Item Shop and a Cancel Purchase or Return Ticket is available. If a platform is linked to the wrong Epic account, Epic says relinking may resolve the issue. See its account and cosmetic transfer guidance.
What to know about outfit availability
Epic describes outfits as licensed in-game content. Its Terms of Service say content may be automatically accessible, earned through gameplay, purchased, or obtained using in-game credits. Compatibility can be limited by an experience’s design or ratings, and features, pricing, and availability may change. Epic does not promise that a cosmetic works in every Fortnite experience or will remain available. Read Epic Games Terms of Service, Section 10.
