How to Use FFmpeg to Loop Kannada Gospel Videos on YouTube Live

To loop a Kannada gospel video on YouTube Live, run FFmpeg with -stream_loop -1 to repeat the file and -re to read it at its normal rate, then send the output to the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. The example below encodes H.264 video and AAC audio; adjust its settings to match your source file and YouTube’s current recommendations.

Before you start

  • Install FFmpeg and check that your build includes the protocols and encoders you intend to use. Run ffmpeg -version to identify the build.
  • Have the video file available locally and confirm you have permission to stream the exact video and audio recording. The ability to rebroadcast a file technically does not grant rights to its song, lyrics, arrangement, or recording.
  • Your YouTube channel must be able to create a live stream. Eligibility and restrictions can depend on the channel and account; check the options available in YouTube Studio.
  • Use a computer and internet connection that can stay on and sustain the chosen upload bitrate for the duration of the broadcast.

The file, operating system, FFmpeg version, channel, and upload speed are not specified here, so inspect your own setup rather than assuming a particular codec or resolution will work.

Inspect the video and choose an output profile

Use ffprobe to inspect the file’s video and audio streams, dimensions, frame rate, and codecs:

YouTube’s live encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a keyframe interval of two seconds, with a maximum interval of four seconds. Choose bitrate by codec, resolution, and frame rate using YouTube’s current live encoder settings; there is no single correct bitrate for every source. For H.264 at 720p and 30 fps, YouTube lists 3 Mbps as the minimum and 8 Mbps as recommended. The command below uses 6 Mbps, which falls within that range. At 30 fps, a two-second GOP is 60 frames, hence -g 60.

AV Access AV Over IP Encoder 1080P, HDMI to IP Streaming (HDIP100E)
  • 【NOTE】Encoder and Decoder are packaged separately. This link only contain Encoder, You need to buy Decoder here: B0B214QTQT.
  • 【Unlimited Scalability vs Fixed HDMI Systems】Basic HDMI extenders are limited to one transmitter → one receiver. With AV over IP, you can add more decoders anytime, scaling from 1 screen to dozens of displays (up to 50)without replacing your system.
  • 【Build Video Walls & Multi-Screen Layouts】Traditional HDMI extenders cannot create video walls. This system allows you to build video walls up to 8×8 or manage multiple screens independently for dynamic content display.
  • 【Flexible Routing vs Fixed Signal Path】HDMI extenders send signal to only one display. AV over IP allows flexible routing, so any source can be shown on any screen at any time.
  • 【Works Over Standard Network Infrastructure】No need for long HDMI cables or dedicated wiring. This system uses standard Ethernet switches, making installation cleaner, more flexible, and easier to expand.

YouTube lists 128 Kbps stereo audio as a recommended advanced setting. The example uses that audio bitrate, AAC, 44.1 kHz, and two channels. Its values are an illustrative 720p30 profile, not a claim that the source file itself has those properties.

Create a YouTube Live stream and protect its key

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using the controls available for your channel.
  2. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Use the RTMPS server URL when the endpoint and your FFmpeg build support it.
  3. Treat the key like a password. Do not put a real key in a public script, screenshot, or repository. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update your encoder configuration.

YouTube describes stream keys as password-like credentials in its stream key guidance. The exact endpoint and key should come from your own Live Control Room, not from an example.

Loop the video with FFmpeg

Replace input.mp4 with your file and replace the output placeholder with the exact RTMPS server URL and stream key YouTube provides. This is a command template, not a tested command for every file or FFmpeg build.

ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i "input.mp4"
  -map 0:v:0 -map 0:a?
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -tune zerolatency
  -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
  -b:v 6M -maxrate 6M -bufsize 12M
  -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -ac 2
  -f flv "<YouTube RTMPS server URL>/<stream key>"

What the important options do

  • -stream_loop -1 repeats the input indefinitely. -re reads the file at its native rate so FFmpeg does not send it as fast as the machine can process it. Both are input options, so they appear before -i. See the FFmpeg documentation.
  • -map 0:v:0 selects the first video stream. -map 0:a? selects an audio stream if one exists; the question mark makes that mapping optional, but it does not create silence or an audio track if the file has none.
  • -c:v libx264 encodes H.264. The pixel format, frame rate, GOP, and bitrate options define the example output profile. If your source is not 30 fps or you choose another output frame rate, adjust the GOP to approximately twice that frame rate for a two-second interval and consult YouTube’s matching bitrate guidance.
  • -maxrate and -bufsize constrain rate variation around the target; the equal bitrate and maximum-rate values are intended for the example’s CBR-style output.
  • -c:a aac encodes audio as AAC. Check that an audio stream exists and that the result sounds correct before relying on the stream.
  • -f flv selects the FLV muxer used for this RTMP/RTMPS output workflow.

FFmpeg options and protocol support can differ between builds. Consult the local ffmpeg -h output if an option or encoder is unavailable.

When stream-copy may work

If the file’s streams already meet YouTube’s ingest requirements and need no transformations, stream-copy may lower CPU use. In that case, replace the encoding options with -c copy and remove output settings that require decoding or transformation. Compatibility depends on the file’s actual codecs and parameters; the source file has not been inspected here. If YouTube rejects the output or the stream is unstable, re-encode to a supported profile instead.

Test the stream and monitor it live

  1. Start FFmpeg and check its output for connection or encoding errors.
  2. In Live Control Room, confirm YouTube receives the feed and inspect stream-health messages. A running FFmpeg process alone does not prove viewers can see the stream.
  3. Check both moving video and audio in the preview. Listen for clipping, missing channels, or silence, and confirm the picture is not frozen or distorted.
  4. Do a test before a scheduled or important broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health in its encoder setup guidance.

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely checks and fixes
YouTube shows no ingest or preview Check that the server URL and key are copied correctly, the stream is started or scheduled as configured in Live Control Room, and FFmpeg logs show a successful connection. Then review YouTube’s ingest-health messages.
Video arrives but there is no audio Run ffprobe and verify the file has an audio stream. Confirm the mapping selects it and that it is encoded in a format YouTube accepts for RTMP/RTMPS, such as AAC or MP3. Optional mapping does not synthesize a silent track.
Video stutters or the computer is overloaded Try a faster encoder preset or lower resolution and bitrate while remaining within YouTube’s current recommended range for the selected codec and frame rate. The machine must still encode and upload reliably; performance depends on its available resources.
The loop behaves unexpectedly at the file boundary Review FFmpeg logs and inspect the file’s timestamps and codec parameters. Loop-boundary behavior can depend on the media; a report about one user’s long-running loop is anecdotal and does not establish a universal failure or fix.
The feed drops during an unattended broadcast -stream_loop -1 repeats the input but does not restart FFmpeg after a process failure or repair a network outage. A genuine unattended setup needs an always-on computer or server plus a way to monitor and restart the process.
RTMP works but transport security matters Prefer the RTMPS endpoint when available. FFmpeg documents RTMPS as RTMP over SSL in its protocol documentation.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want a YouTube channel to keep looping uploaded Kannada gospel videos without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs the stream in the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube, not live camera footage.
