To track a product with Distill.io, create a monitor for the product’s page, select the price or availability area you care about, choose local or cloud checks, set a schedule and conditions, then configure an alert. A narrow selection helps avoid noise, but a restock alert only works when the retailer exposes a detectable page change.
Set up a product monitor

Open the product’s page
Use the retailer’s exact product page where possible, rather than a search-results page that may show several products, prices, or availability messages. Distill defines a monitor as one webpage with a unique URL.

Select the price or availability area
In the Distill browser extension, open the Distill menu and choose to monitor either the full page or part of it. For a price watch, select only the price if it can be isolated. For a restock watch, select the visible stock message or purchase control if it is stable enough to monitor. Review the selection in the preview and save it.

Choose local or cloud monitoring
A local monitor checks from your browser or computer and depends on that device being available. A cloud monitor checks from Distill’s servers and can continue while your computer is off. Some websites may block cloud requests; proxy features or plan access may be relevant, but a proxy is not a guaranteed fix.

Set the schedule and conditions
Choose an interval allowed by your monitor type and subscription. Distill’s platform documentation lists a 5-second minimum for browser add-ons and a 2-minute minimum for the web app’s Flexi plan. These are documented minima, not universal plan entitlements; check your account’s current limits before relying on a particular interval.

For a price alert, add a condition comparing the changed price with your target. Distill’s documented example alerts when an $80 item falls below $70. Keep the selection focused: if it includes the price, rating, and review count, a numeric condition may evaluate each number separately and produce unexpected alerts.

Configure the alert
For a restock watch, use a condition tied to a newly appearing availability phrase or a change in the selected stock area, then choose an alert action. A keyword already present on the page does not, by itself, trigger an alert; the monitored content must change and the configured condition must pass.

Distill’s official documentation lists email, SMS, push, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and webhook-based integrations among its alert methods. Availability can depend on subscription plan, so confirm the action you want is included.

Check history and adjust
Distill records detected changes in change history. If alerts are too noisy, narrow the selection or refine the condition. If an expected alert does not arrive, check whether the selected page content changed and whether the condition was satisfied.

What can prevent a restock or price alert?
- The selected area is too broad: unrelated text or multiple numbers can satisfy or disrupt a condition. Select just the price or stock indicator where possible.
- The page has not changed: an availability keyword that was already present is not a new change and does not independently trigger an alert.
- The retailer does not expose a monitorable signal: a page can show stock information in a way that Distill cannot access or detect. No workflow guarantees alerts for every retailer.
- A local monitor is not running: local checks depend on the relevant browser or computer being active.
- A cloud request is blocked: some websites may block cloud monitoring requests. Check Distill’s plan and proxy options, but do not assume they will always overcome the block.
- The condition did not pass or the action is unavailable: inspect change history, review the condition, and confirm your plan supports the selected alert method.
