To use Discord voice chat on Xbox, link your Discord and Xbox accounts, then join a Discord server’s voice channel from the Xbox Guide—or transfer a call from Discord mobile or desktop. Discord voice on Xbox and Xbox Party Chat cannot be used at the same time, so choose one for that session.
What you need before joining Discord on Xbox
Discord is not a standalone Xbox app. Discord’s Discord and Xbox Connection FAQ, updated May 27, 2026, explains that you connect the accounts and access voice through the console’s Guide. Before starting:

- Link the Discord account to the Xbox account you use on the console.
- Sign in to that Xbox profile and update the console to its latest software.
- For a transfer from Discord mobile, install the Xbox app on your phone or tablet.
- For a transfer started on Discord desktop, have both the Discord and Xbox mobile apps available to complete the QR-code steps.
Join a Discord voice channel from the Xbox console
This route starts on the Xbox and does not require transferring a call or scanning a QR code.

- Press the Xbox button to open the Guide.
- Go to Parties & chats > Discord Voice.
- Select the Discord server you want to use.
- Choose its voice channel to join.
Transfer Discord voice from a phone
Use this route when you want to start in Discord mobile and move the voice connection to a particular console.

- Link your Discord and Xbox accounts and install the Xbox app on your mobile device.
- In Discord mobile, join the voice channel.
- Swipe up to open the channel’s audio controls, then choose Join on Xbox.
- In the Xbox app, select your console and tap Transfer Audio.
Discord says the mobile voice controls for muting or deafening are reflected on Xbox after the transfer.
Transfer Discord voice from a computer
A desktop-started transfer still needs a mobile device to finish the process.

- Link your Discord and Xbox accounts, and install both the Discord and Xbox apps on a mobile device.
- Join the voice channel in Discord desktop.
- In the focused voice channel, select the phone-and-controller icon; alternatively, right-click the channel name and choose Transfer Voice to Xbox.
- Scan the displayed QR code with your mobile device and follow the prompts in Discord mobile.

Can you use Discord voice and Xbox Party Chat together?
No. Discord says you cannot remain in Xbox Party Chat while using a transferred Discord voice channel on Xbox. For that session, use either the Discord voice channel or Xbox Party Chat.

Fix common Discord-on-Xbox setup problems
- The console says it needs an update: update Xbox software, then retry the transfer. Discord identifies outdated console software as a cause of this error.
- Discord Voice does not appear or the connection fails: if you linked the accounts before Discord Voice became available on Xbox, Discord says you may need to link them again.
- The transfer cannot find your console: check that the Xbox profile linked to Discord appears online. Transfers to a selected console require the Xbox app.
- A desktop transfer will not complete: use the Discord mobile app to scan the QR code and follow its prompts; the desktop step alone does not finish the transfer.
- You need to communicate outside Xbox: Discord’s FAQ says Xbox privacy settings should allow “Everybody” for voice and text, and lists “Allow” for cross-network play. The exact settings available may depend on the account and console interface.
- Audio is still not working after transfer: Discord directs users to Xbox support for audio problems. Detailed headset-specific steps are not established here.
