For a channel with different programs at set times, use TV Playout instead; it schedules prerecorded files and live content into a timetable, but its loop window is limited by plan.

This is the simpler option when you want the same set of prepared videos to repeat. Castr says Pre-Recorded Streams is available on all plans, accepts MP4 files, and supports uploads from a computer or imports from cloud storage. File count and size depend on the subscription. Its playback modes include Loop and Date & Time. Select Loop for a continuously repeating feed; choose Date & Time when you want a stream to start at a particular time rather than run as a repeating channel.

Use TV Playout for scheduled programming
TV Playout is the better fit for a channel timetable: for example, devotional music in the morning, a talk program in the afternoon, and a planned break before an evening playlist. It can schedule prerecorded files and live content into daily playlists, then send the playout to an existing Castr Livestream destination. Castr describes it as supporting continuous 24-hour broadcast in its guide dated July 13, 2026: Castr Help Center: TV Playout.
These features are not interchangeable: a playlist loop repeats its items, while TV Playout provides a schedule with timed items and breaks. TV Playout loop mode also has a maximum horizon, so it needs periodic renewal rather than being treated as an indefinitely configured schedule.

Check your files and plan limits before building the channel
Pre-Recorded Streams media
Prepare the program videos as MP4 files. The available setup guide does not specify a single file-count or file-size allowance for every subscription, so check the current limit for your Castr plan and this feature before uploading. Regional-language audio should already be in the file: the documented workflow accepts prepared video rather than creating a translated or dubbed soundtrack.

Castr lists one TV Playout on each plan. For loop mode, Premium reaches 15 days; Ultra and Events reach 30 days. Schedule an operational reminder to renew or extend the loop before it expires.
Connect YouTube as the stream destination
TV Playout requires a Castr Livestream destination created in advance. Castr’s YouTube connection guide documents two routes: connect through the YouTube API by selecting a channel or event, or manually enter the YouTube streaming server and stream key. - Create or select the YouTube destination. Use Castr’s API connection if you want to choose a YouTube channel or event through the connected account. Alternatively, select the manual server/key route and copy the ingest details from YouTube’s current Live Control Room.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: do not publish it in a video description, share it in a public document, or expose it in a screen recording. If it is disclosed, replace it in YouTube and update the Castr destination.
- Check the description if you connect manually. Castr’s older guide says that when using the manual stream-key connection, the stream description must be edited in YouTube’s dashboard. Confirm the title, description, visibility, and scheduled details there.
- Test the destination before relying on it. Start with a short run, then check YouTube’s Live Control Room and the public or unlisted watch page to confirm that video, audio, and the intended channel are correct.
Set up a repeating Pre-Recorded Stream
- Open Castr’s Pre-Recorded Streams feature and create a stream. Upload MP4 files from your computer or import them from cloud storage.
- Arrange the playlist. Put the videos in the order you want viewers to hear and see them. Check the start and end of each file for silence, black frames, incorrect language tracks, or unfinished edits.
- Select Loop if the playlist should repeat continuously. Use Date & Time only if you need a timed start rather than a continuously repeating channel.
- Connect the YouTube destination using the API or manual server/key route, as appropriate for your account setup.
- Start the stream and verify the result on YouTube. Listen to the audio and watch the transition from one playlist item to the next; a successful upload alone does not confirm that the correct destination or audio track is live.
Build a scheduled channel with TV Playout
- Create a Castr Livestream destination first. Connect that destination to YouTube before configuring TV Playout.
- Create the TV Playout and add the prerecorded files and/or live streams for the schedule. Keep each file within the applicable plan’s count, size, and duration limits.
- Arrange the daily playlist in time order. Use consecutive items for an uninterrupted schedule. Insert a Break where you deliberately want a gap or intermission; do not assume an accidental gap will behave like a planned break.
- Choose whether to loop the schedule. Loop mode is listed only for Premium, Ultra, and Events. Set an end date within the plan’s allowed horizon and make a reminder for renewal if the channel must continue past it.
- Activate the schedule and confirm the output at YouTube. Check that the intended program appears at the expected time and that transitions, breaks, and any live segments behave as planned.
Make the channel work for regional-language viewers
Prepare the language in the program itself
Choose recordings with the intended language already in the audio, and verify any alternate audio tracks before upload. Castr’s documented workflows carry prepared media to YouTube; they do not establish automatic translation, dubbing, or language conversion. If viewers need subtitles, create or prepare captions separately and verify how they appear in the YouTube viewing experience.

Castr describes a live captioning feature with language selection, but the reviewed guide does not provide a supported-language list. It says users can select up to four caption languages and set a duration up to 24 hours or Unlimited. The feature is described as beta, with 10 free captioning hours per account during beta; Castr says the allowance and pricing may change after beta. The guide specifically describes captions in the Castr player, so do not assume those captions will appear on YouTube. Keep the channel reliable and compliant
- Review rights for every item. Make sure you have permission to broadcast the music, performances, films, images, and recordings in the playlist on YouTube. A language or devotional context does not by itself grant reuse rights. Check the current YouTube copyright and monetization rules that apply to your channel and content.
- Make the channel meaningfully original. A live loop does not make reused material original. Add programming, narration, context, or other original value where appropriate, and check YouTube’s current reused-content and monetization policies before expecting eligibility.
- Monitor scheduled loop expiry. TV Playout loops end at their plan’s maximum horizon. Assign someone to renew the schedule and confirm that the destination remains active.
- Check the stream after changes. After replacing files, changing playlist order, editing the destination, or rotating a stream key, verify the actual YouTube output rather than relying only on Castr’s configuration screen.

Castr’s getting-started guide describes a seven-day trial, a hosting-region selection, and a requirement to subscribe after the trial to regain dashboard access. The reviewed materials do not establish current plan prices, so check Castr’s live plan page for the cost of the feature and media limits you need.
