Measure that load during a demanding stream, size by continuous watt output with suitable headroom, and use the manufacturer’s runtime information to check how long the specific battery configuration will last. Backup power cannot keep a stream online if the internet connection or YouTube goes down.
What needs backup for the stream to stay live?
Make a list of everything that must remain powered for your setup to keep streaming:

- The streaming PC.
- The monitor, if you need it to operate or monitor the broadcast.
- The router and modem or fibre ONT.
- Any audio interface, mixer, capture device or other powered production equipment the stream depends on.
Back up the router and modem/ONT as well as the PC. If they lose power, the PC may remain on but lose its internet connection. An inverter also cannot prevent an ISP outage, a YouTube interruption or other failures unrelated to mains power.
How to size the inverter and battery
1. Measure the real combined load
Measure the equipment you listed while the PC is running a realistic, demanding streaming workload. A watt meter or suitable manufacturer telemetry can help establish the draw. Power varies with the PC’s components and workload, so do not use the power supply’s label as if it were the PC’s actual draw.

2. Check watts and VA separately
Compare the combined measured load with both the inverter or UPS’s continuous watt rating and its VA rating. Watts and VA describe different capacity limits; a VA figure alone does not tell you how much continuous watt load the unit can support.
Schneider Electric India advises choosing UPS output watt capacity 20–25% above the connected load. Treat that as the manufacturer’s sizing guidance, then verify the exact unit’s watt rating and overload behavior. Do not assume an arbitrary PSU nameplate rating is a suitable UPS requirement.

3. Match battery configuration to the required runtime
Runtime depends on the connected load and battery configuration. Check the manufacturer’s runtime information for the exact model, battery type and capacity, and the measured load you expect to support. A conventional UPS may be intended to provide time for a graceful shutdown; Schneider Electric gives 5–20 minutes as typical home/office runtime, depending on load and model. Do not assume that a UPS sized for safe shutdown will carry a live stream through a longer outage.

Which inverter or UPS approach fits?
| Approach | May suit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Home inverter/UPS with battery bank | Household backup where longer runtime is a goal | Continuous watts, pure sine wave specification, UPS or transfer mode, battery type and capacity, supported charging, runtime at measured load, installation and service. |
| Line-interactive UPS | Shorter backup and conditioning for a desk setup | Actual watt capacity, output waveform, transfer specification, battery replacement and runtime at load. |
| Online double-conversion UPS with external battery modules | Setups needing continuously conditioned output or configurable extended runtime | Output watts and VA, efficiency, module compatibility, runtime configuration, service and operating cost. |
Schneider Electric distinguishes line-interactive and online double-conversion designs; its guide characterizes online topology as continuously supplying the load through the inverter. ABB’s PowerValue IN is an online double-conversion product family with models listed from 1–10 kVA, intended in part for workstations and routers, and support for external battery modules. ABB says the family can use up to four external battery modules for runtime “well over two hours,” depending on configuration. These are product-family specifications, not a runtime promise for your setup.
GEESYS lists pure sine wave output and computer/electronic use for its Home UPS range, with model continuous output ratings of 600 W, 1000 W, 1600 W, 2500 W and 3500 W. Its page describes backup time “up to 10 hours” based on battery bank and loads. That is a vendor qualification, not a typical or guaranteed runtime. Confirm the exact model, battery, voltage, UPS/transfer mode and local availability with the manufacturer.

Set up the backup safely
- Confirm the exact model’s documentation. Check continuous watts, VA, output waveform, overload behavior, transfer or UPS mode, supported battery configuration and runtime information at your measured load. Do not infer seamless transfer from the words “inverter” or “pure sine wave” alone.
- Verify compatibility with the PC power supply. Check the inverter/UPS and PC power supply documentation for compatibility in the intended operating mode. If unclear, ask the manufacturer or a qualified installer.
- Connect every essential device. Put the PC, required network equipment and production gear on the backed-up supply. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance on outlets and total load.
- Check the complete load and runtime. Confirm that the combined load stays within continuous watt and VA limits and that the selected battery configuration is rated for the runtime you need.
- Test the setup before relying on it live. Check that the equipment remains powered through a transfer to battery and that network connectivity is available. A power test cannot establish protection against ISP or YouTube interruptions.
How to choose a unit in India
Compare the exact model’s continuous watt capacity, waveform, transfer behavior, battery compatibility and runtime at your measured load. Include installation and local service in the decision, especially if you are configuring a battery bank or external modules. A product category such as a pure sine wave home inverter/UPS for a PC is a starting point for shopping, not a universal model recommendation; confirm the listing and specifications before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTroubleshooting: why might the stream still drop?
- The UPS overloads or shuts down: Recheck the combined load against the continuous watt and VA limits, including network and production equipment. Consult the exact model’s overload guidance.
- The PC restarts when power changes: Check transfer behavior and PC power-supply compatibility in the manufacturer documentation. Do not assume every inverter transfer is seamless.
- The PC stays on but the stream disconnects: Check that the router and modem/ONT are also backed up and that the ISP connection remains available. Battery power cannot remedy an ISP outage.
- Backup ends sooner than expected: Runtime varies with load and battery configuration. Compare actual connected equipment and batteries with the manufacturer’s runtime information for the exact setup.
- Audio or video equipment stops working: Confirm that each required powered device is connected to the backed-up supply and included in the load calculation.
- Power is stable but YouTube interrupts the broadcast: An inverter addresses power supply only; it cannot prevent platform-side interruptions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your aim is a 24/7 YouTube stream made from uploaded podcast recordings, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded video on YouTube, not live camera input, and it does not remove the need for internet service at its cloud end or prevent YouTube interruptions.
