Use a permitted browser session and an AI agent that can inspect page structure, then capture only the viewport, a listing element, or the full page you need. Playwright supports all three screenshot scopes. Use the agent’s accessible-page snapshot to find and operate controls; take a screenshot when visual appearance matters or a map, canvas, or custom widget is not exposed as accessible content. Check the specific portal’s terms first, and treat the resulting image as a record of one rendered page state—not proof that the listing is accurate or still available.
Before automating a listing page
Identify the exact portal and listing URL, then review that portal’s current terms and access restrictions. A page being public or appearing in search results does not by itself grant permission to automate copying it. For example, eRealtor’s terms address browsing its listings and prohibit unauthorized access; that is an example of one platform’s rules, not a rule that can be attributed to every Indian property portal. Use a browser session you are authorized to use. Do not bypass a login, CAPTCHA, paywall, or anti-bot control. If the site blocks automation, stop and use an authorized access route rather than trying to defeat the control. Page behavior can vary with login state, consent prompts, dynamic loading, and site controls; no universal capture success or wait time can be assumed.

Use an AI agent with Playwright
For agent interaction, start with the page’s accessible snapshot and current element references rather than guessing coordinates from a screenshot. Use the snapshot to locate controls, interact with references from that current snapshot, and take a fresh snapshot after navigation or a material page-state change. Screenshots complement this workflow: they help inspect visual layout and features such as maps, charts, canvas content, or custom widgets that may not appear in the accessibility tree. - Open the specific listing URL in an authorized browser session.
- Inspect the accessibility snapshot and identify the listing content or controls from the current page state.
- Wait for the main listing content and relevant images to render. Choose a wait condition appropriate to the page; there is no evidence-based universal delay that fits every portal.
- Use the appropriate viewport, element, or full-page screenshot option described below.
- Review the output for missing content, overlays, and personal information before keeping or sharing it.
Agent tool names and syntax differ, so there is no single prompt or command that works across every agent. Give the agent a precise, authorized task—for example, to open one listing, inspect its accessible structure, and save a viewport image—then verify the actual file rather than assuming the agent succeeded.

Choose output format and resolution
Playwright screenshot options include PNG, JPEG, and WebP. The scale option can use CSS-pixel dimensions or device scale for higher-resolution output. Select the format and scale for the intended use: larger or higher-resolution files may improve legibility but increase file size. Review the resulting image at the size at which it will be viewed.
Save and review the screenshot responsibly
- Use a descriptive filename, such as
portal-listing-2026-10-03.png; include a capture timestamp when the recordkeeping purpose calls for it. - Open the saved image and check that the relevant listing content actually rendered, rather than relying only on a successful-looking browser action.
- Look for phone numbers, names, faces, account details, or other personal information. Keep only what is needed and restrict access to the file.
- Do not present the screenshot as validation of the price, availability, ownership, RERA registration, or truthfulness of the listing. It records what the browser rendered at that time.
India-specific privacy and terms considerations
Screenshots may contain digital personal data. India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 concerns processing of digital personal data, but its provisions have different commencement dates appointed by the Central Government. The Act text and commencement position should be checked for the date and processing in question: India Code: Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The Press Information Bureau reported that the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 were notified on 14 November 2025: PIB release. Do not reduce that phased framework to a blanket claim that every provision applies in the same way at all times.

- The image is blank or incomplete: check that the page’s main content and images rendered in the authorized browser session, then inspect the saved file. A fixed delay cannot guarantee readiness across sites.
- The listing card selector fails: inspect the current page and confirm the selector matches the intended element. Refresh the accessible snapshot after navigation or a state change, and narrow selectors that match multiple cards.
- The agent cannot find a map or visual widget: use a screenshot as a visual fallback. Such content may not be represented in the accessibility tree.
- A login, CAPTCHA, or block appears: do not bypass it. Stop and seek an authorized route or permission from the portal.
- The full-page file includes too much: switch to an element or viewport capture if that meets the recordkeeping need, and retain only the portion required.
- The screenshot is hard to read or too large: adjust the documented image format or scale options and check the resulting legibility and file size.
