Is Prime Video Watch Party still available?
It appears not. An Amazon customer-forum result reports that Amazon removed Watch Party in April 2024, although the result does not show a source date. Amazon’s current Prime Video help center lists playback devices and usage rules but does not provide instructions to create or join a party. Treat any instructions showing a current Amazon-native Watch Party button as potentially outdated or region-specific.

How did Amazon Watch Party work?
When the feature existed, a host started a Watch Party for an eligible title and invited other viewers to join a synchronized session. A third-party troubleshooting page dated April 28, 2022, documented the following historical requirements; these are not a current setup guide.
- Supported access: Participants needed an up-to-date desktop browser or a supported Prime Video app. The page said Watch Party was unavailable on smart TVs, game consoles, connected media players, and some mobile-device configurations.
- Same country: The host and every participant had to be in the same country.
- Title access: Each viewer needed a Prime or Prime Video entitlement, or had to rent or buy the title.
- VPN: VPN use could prevent access.
- Party size: The page listed a maximum of 100 participants.
Why can’t I find Watch Party on Amazon Prime?
The most likely explanation is that Amazon has discontinued the feature. Its current help information does not describe a way to create or join a Watch Party, and changing devices or buying a Fire TV Stick will not restore it. In the past, device compatibility, country, title entitlement, and VPN use could also affect access, but those historical checks do not provide a way to enable a discontinued feature today.

Can I watch Prime Video with friends remotely?
You can each watch Prime Video separately, but Amazon’s ordinary playback rules do not synchronize playback between people. Amazon says: “You can stream up to three titles at the same time using the same Amazon account. You can stream the same title to no more than two devices at a time.” These limits govern simultaneous streams, not a shared watch session; regional restrictions may also apply. Amazon does not currently document a native Watch Party workflow in its help center.
Third-party synchronized-watch services may change or vary by country, title, device, and subscription requirements. The information available here does not establish a current provider that can be recommended reliably by name. Before using one, check whether it supports Prime Video in your region, whether each viewer needs their own subscription or rental, which browsers and devices work, what synchronization and chat features it offers, and how it handles session privacy.

What devices support ordinary Prime Video viewing?
Amazon’s supported-devices information includes Amazon devices, Blu-ray players, game consoles, mobile devices, set-top boxes and media players, and smart TVs. Its usage rules also describe streaming through a web browser and compatible TVs, Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, Fire tablets, and other compatible devices. Availability varies by device and region.

Amazon identifies Fire TV and Fire TV Stick as Prime Video devices, with playback quality up to Ultra HD depending on the model and content. These devices can be used for local Prime Video playback, but they do not bring back Watch Party.
