1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsUse AI search to map a question, then use its citations and regular Google Search to check the important claims. Treat the AI answer as a guide to evidence—not as proof. Google cautions that AI Mode can misinterpret web content or miss context, and recommends checking important information in more than one place.
Use AI search to turn a broad question into a research plan
Start with the question you actually need to answer. Ask an AI search tool for a brief overview and the main subquestions you should investigate. Google AI Mode supports follow-up questions and exploration of linked web sources, so you can use it to clarify unfamiliar terms or identify parts of a topic you may have overlooked.

Keep the request focused. For example: “What should I find out to compare the rules for remote work in two countries? List the key questions, and distinguish current law from general guidance.” This asks for a map of the subject without treating the generated response as a final answer.

Before accepting the overview, pick out the statements that would materially affect your conclusion. Break broad summaries into specific claims about facts, dates, definitions, or comparisons. A claim such as “the policy changed recently” is too vague to verify; identify the policy, the change, and the relevant date.
#1 Best Overall
- Write each important claim in a short, neutral sentence.
- Mark claims that depend on a particular date, place, definition, or group.
- Set aside background details that do not affect the question you are trying to answer.
Open the AI answer’s sources and check what they establish
Follow the citations rather than relying on how they are described in the generated answer. Read the relevant page and check whether it directly supports the attached claim. Prefer an original document or an official source when one is available, and note the source’s publication or update date and the scope it covers.
A citation is not confirmation merely because it appears beside a sentence. The page may discuss the same subject without supporting that precise point, or its information may apply to a different time, location, or definition. OpenAI’s research guidance likewise advises checking that sources support the claims made in a report.
Use regular Google Search to find other evidence
Search the key claims in ordinary Google Search as a separate way to discover relevant material. This can surface sources that were not selected for the AI response. Open promising results and evaluate the underlying pages; a search snippet is not a substitute for checking the source itself.
Google recommends checking AI sources and trying other Search results for important information. AI Mode can also take you back to Search results, making it possible to move between conversational exploration and a conventional list of sources.

Compare sources before deciding what to conclude
When sources disagree, first check whether they are answering the same question. A difference may reflect an update date, geographic boundary, definition, or the authority of the source—not necessarily a factual contradiction. Give greater weight to sources that are in a position to establish the specific claim, such as an official publication for the current wording of a rule.
If the disagreement remains unresolved, preserve that uncertainty in your conclusion. Do not repeat the AI answer as fact simply because the available sources have not settled the issue.
Rank #4
Keep a compact evidence trail
For the claims that matter, record the claim, the source, its date, and what the page actually establishes. This makes it easier to revisit an answer if a page changes or if you need to explain why a source applies. It also helps expose gaps: a claim with no direct supporting source should not be presented with the same confidence as one backed by clear evidence.
