There is no single Solana-wallet procedure for either an address book or transaction simulation. Wallets expose different controls, and the labels can change between mobile, browser-extension, and app versions. You can reliably locate and verify a receiving address in wallets such as Phantom and Solflare, but you should treat saving a recipient and previewing a transaction as wallet-specific capabilities. Before approving any request, check the network, asset, amount, destination, and the wallet’s own warnings; stop when any detail differs from what you intended.
What you are actually managing
A wallet is a container, not one address
A wallet can contain several accounts. Each account can have addresses on supported networks, and those accounts may have been created from a recovery phrase, imported private keys, a hardware wallet, or a watch-only setup. Two accounts shown in the same wallet application can therefore have different recovery requirements. An address-book label does not change ownership, permissions, or recovery.

An address identifies a destination on a network
A receive address is public information intended to be shared, but the network still matters. Select the network required for the transfer before copying an address or displaying its QR code. A visually plausible string copied from another network or account can send funds somewhere other than the intended destination. Solflare also warns that Solana addresses are case-sensitive, so changing capitalization can make the value invalid or point to a different string.

An address book is a convenience layer
An address book normally attaches a human-readable label to a recipient address. It should reduce transcription errors, not replace verification. The label is not proof that the saved value belongs to a particular person or service, and it does not guarantee that the entry is available on every account, device, or installation. The official wallet material available for this guide explains finding and copying addresses, but it does not establish a universal add, edit, sync, or delete workflow.

Simulation is a preview, not a guarantee
A transaction simulation attempts to show what a transaction would do before you authorize it. A preview may reveal account changes, token movements, or an instruction that would fail, but its contents and accuracy depend on the wallet, the application that built the transaction, and the state of the network at simulation time. A simulation cannot make a transaction reversible and should not be treated as a guarantee that an application or destination is safe.
Prepare before saving or sending any address
- Identify the exact account that will receive or send the funds. Do not assume the first account displayed is the one used for a previous transfer.
- Confirm the network shown by the wallet and the sending application. If either side offers several networks, select the same one deliberately.
- Obtain the recipient address through a trusted channel. A QR code can reduce typing, but it still needs visual verification.
- Compare the beginning and end of the copied value with the recipient’s source. For Solana, preserve every character and its capitalization.
- Decide whether the address is for a one-time transfer or a recurring recipient. A recurring destination can justify a labeled entry, but the first payment should still be treated as a test.
- Keep recovery phrases and private keys completely separate from labels, notes, and address records. An address is public; a recovery secret is not.
Find a receive address in Phantom
Phantom on a phone
- Open the wallet and start the plus or receive flow.
- Choose the network required for the incoming transfer before copying anything.
- Use the copy control for the textual address, or display the QR code for the sender to scan.
- Compare the copied value with the recipient’s expected account and keep the network selection visible while you verify it.
The address obtained from an earlier transfer belongs to the network used for that transfer. Do not reuse an old value without checking which account and network produced it.
Phantom in a browser extension
- Open the extension and choose Receive.
- Select the required network.
- Copy the address or display its QR code.
- Verify the account name, network, and characters before sharing the result with the sender.
These steps locate a receiving address. They do not demonstrate that the current Phantom version offers a recipient address book, that labels are shared between accounts, or that entries synchronize between mobile and extension installations.
Find a receive address in Solflare
- Open the Solflare wallet and use Receive.
- Display the QR code or the textual address.
- Use the copy or share control, then compare the result with the address supplied by the recipient or service.
- Check capitalization character by character. Solflare’s help information explicitly notes that Solana addresses are case-sensitive.
Solflare’s receive screen is for presenting an address; it is not evidence that a saved-recipient feature is present in every Solflare release or on every platform. If you do not see an address-book control, do not infer that a hidden universal menu exists.
How to determine whether your wallet has an address book
Because feature names and synchronization rules are wallet-specific, inspect the current application rather than following a generic button sequence. Look for an address-book, contacts, saved recipients, or labeled-address area near the send form or account settings. Read the wallet’s current help page for your platform and version before relying on an entry for a substantial transfer.
If an add-recipient control is present
- Open the wallet’s recipient-management or send screen and choose the option to add a recipient.
- Paste the address instead of retyping it, then verify its full value and network.
- Enter a label that identifies the purpose, not a secret. For example, a label can describe a treasury account or a known service, but it must not contain a recovery phrase or private key.
- Save the entry only after checking which account, network, and device scope the wallet displays.
- Reopen the saved entry immediately. Compare the stored address with the source and confirm that the intended network is still selected.
- For a new recipient, send the smallest practical test amount first. Wait for the wallet or application to report completion before using the entry for a larger payment.
Questions to answer before trusting a saved entry
- Does the label belong to one account, all accounts in the wallet, or only the current device?
- Does the wallet synchronize entries, export them, or keep them only in local storage?
- What happens when an address is edited or deleted, and can the original value be recovered?
- Does the wallet distinguish recipients by network, or can one label be reused ambiguously?
- Will restoring the wallet from a recovery phrase restore labels, or only the account keys?
The available official material does not establish answers to those questions for Phantom or Solflare. Confirm them in the documentation for the exact wallet and version you use. Never assume that a contact list is backed up merely because the account itself can be recovered.

If no address-book feature is documented
Use the wallet’s normal receive and send flows and verify the destination each time. If your organization needs labels, maintain a separate, access-controlled record that contains only public addresses and operational notes. Treat that record as a reference, not as an authority: compare the value against the recipient through an independent channel before a high-value transfer. Do not place seed phrases, private keys, wallet-passwords, or signing codes in the record.
What happens when an application asks you to sign
A decentralized application generally constructs an unsigned transaction and passes it to the wallet. The wallet presents a signing request; if you approve, it signs and submits the transaction. The application may then wait for network confirmation. Solflare’s developer documentation describes this unsigned-transaction, wallet-signing, submission, and optional confirmation flow.
Review the request in this order
- Origin: Confirm which application or site opened the request and whether you intentionally started the action.
- Network: Check the network named by the wallet and the application.
- Destination: Verify the recipient account or program address. Compare it with the address you intended to use, not merely its label.
- Asset and amount: Check the token, quantity, decimals, and any fee or priority amount that the wallet displays.
- Instructions and changes: Read the wallet’s explanation of account changes, approvals, or permissions. A request that asks for more authority than the action requires is a reason to stop.
- Final outcome: Approve only when the request matches the action you initiated. Reject or close it when a field is missing, unexpected, or inconsistent.
The precise fields and warning design vary by wallet. A familiar-looking confirmation screen is not proof that the transaction is harmless, and an unfamiliar screen is not automatically malicious; verify the details using the wallet’s current documentation and the application’s trusted support channel.
How transaction simulation fits into approval
When a consumer wallet shows a preview
If your wallet offers a simulation or preview before approval, read it as an estimate of the resulting state. Look for changes to token balances, ownership or authority, account creation or closure, and any instruction the wallet marks as failing or unusual. Compare those changes with the action you intended to perform. If the preview cannot explain the request in terms you understand, reject it and investigate before signing.
When no preview appears
The absence of a visible simulation does not prove that the transaction is unsafe; it means you must rely on the wallet’s signing request and your own verification. Do not search for a universal simulation switch or assume that a wallet silently previews every transaction. Feature availability, supported applications, and the information shown can differ by platform and release.

What the developer reference does and does not show
Solana’s developer platform documentation includes a signer-check endpoint that uses a simulated memo transaction. That API detail demonstrates a developer-side technique for checking a signer; it is not evidence of a consumer-facing transaction-preview feature in Phantom, Solflare, or every other wallet. Do not describe the endpoint as a guarantee that a wallet will detect malicious instructions or predict every failure.

Why a simulation can differ from the result
- Network state can change between the preview and the submitted transaction.
- An application can construct a different transaction after a preview or request additional signatures.
- Some wallet interfaces summarize instructions while omitting details that the underlying program processes.
- A preview can report that a transaction is executable without establishing that the destination or application is trustworthy.
For those reasons, simulation is one input to the decision, alongside the origin, network, destination, amount, and requested permissions.
A practical send-and-verify procedure
- Open the intended account and confirm its network.
- Obtain the recipient address from a trusted source or select a previously verified entry.
- Compare the complete address, including capitalization, and confirm the recipient’s network.
- Enter the asset and amount, then review the fee shown by the wallet.
- If a simulation or preview is offered, inspect every reported balance, authority, and instruction change.
- Open the wallet’s signing request and repeat the destination, asset, amount, and network checks.
- Reject the request if it differs from your plan, requests an unexplained approval, or comes from an application you did not open.
- Approve only after the checks agree.
- Wait for the application or wallet to report confirmation. Do not immediately resubmit because the first result appears slow; that can create a duplicate payment.
- Record the transaction identifier and the verification notes your organization requires, without recording private credentials.
Comparing wallets without assuming feature parity
A meaningful comparison requires the wallet name, platform, and version. The available material is sufficient to describe receive-address handling in Phantom and Solflare, but not to rank their address-book or simulation capabilities. Use the following questions when evaluating a wallet you actually intend to deploy.
| Comparison axis | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient labels | Whether entries can be added, edited, deleted, and verified | Labels reduce typing errors only when the stored value and network are clearly shown |
| Synchronization | Whether entries are local, account-wide, device-synced, or restored from backup | A missing label can cause a user to select an unverified address |
| Simulation | Whether a preview appears before signing and which balance or instruction changes it exposes | A preview is useful only if its limits are visible and understandable |
| Platform support | Mobile, browser extension, and the exact app release | Controls and security warnings can differ between platforms |
| Hardware integration | Which hardware devices can sign and where confirmation occurs | Signing may require an additional physical verification step |
| Recovery behavior | What a phrase, imported key, watch-only account, or hardware backup restores | Account recovery does not necessarily restore labels or local settings |
Document the answers internally before making the wallet part of a recurring payment process. If an answer is not stated by the wallet provider, mark it as unknown rather than treating the feature as available.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Hardware wallets are optional
A hardware wallet is not required for an address book or a simulation preview. It is an optional security path in which private keys remain offline and the device performs signing. Solflare documents Shield as an offline-key hardware device used with its mobile application for signing. Whether a particular wallet, account type, and phone support that device must be confirmed in current product documentation.
Using hardware signing adds a physical verification step, but it does not remove the need to check the destination, network, asset, amount, and instructions. A hardware device can sign an incorrect transaction if the user approves the wrong request.
Troubleshooting and recovery decisions
The copied address does not match
Stop. Reopen the receive screen, select the intended account and network, and copy again. If the value changes unexpectedly, investigate the source of the address and avoid sending until the recipient confirms the correct value through an independent channel.

The wallet has no address-book menu
Do not invent a path or install an untrusted extension claiming to add the feature. Use the documented send and receive controls, keep a separate public-address record if necessary, and verify each recipient manually.

Delete or quarantine the entry, then compare the stored address with the recipient’s original source. Check whether the wallet scope is per account or per device before recreating it. A label should never be treated as evidence of identity.
The simulation reports a failure
Do not sign merely to see what happens. Confirm the network, account balance, destination, and application state; then consult the application’s official support material. A failed preview can indicate an invalid request, a stale transaction, or a changed network condition.
The transaction is pending
Keep the original request details and wait for the wallet or application’s confirmation status. Avoid submitting a second transaction until you know whether the first was accepted. If the status remains unclear, use the wallet’s documented support route and provide the transaction identifier without sharing signing secrets.
A request asks for an unexpected approval
Reject it and disconnect from the application if appropriate. Reopen the intended workflow from a trusted bookmark or official application entry point, and verify why the permission is needed before trying again.
Operational checklist
- Account selected: yes
- Network selected and matched: yes
- Address copied from a trusted source: yes
- Address capitalization checked: yes
