It is a rendering step—not a way to verify product accuracy or guarantee listing approval. The distinction matters most on Amazon.in, whose main-image rules limit text and promotional overlays; Flipkart’s reviewed public API documentation does not establish its visual image specifications.
Build a listing-image workflow, not just a screenshot
- Choose the marketplace, product category, and image role. Amazon.in distinguishes the MAIN image from additional images, and requirements may vary by image role and category. Do not assume a single template suits every destination.
- Start with accurate product material. Use a real, accurate product image and verified product facts. A rendering API cannot establish whether a product’s appearance, colour, quantity, included accessories, or claims are truthful.
- Create the layout in HTML. Set explicit canvas dimensions and CSS, reserve space for the product image, and keep marketplace-specific elements separate so you can adapt the design. Do not put text or claims into an Amazon image where its policy prohibits them.
- Render the HTML or a URL through an API. Choose the input mode and output format the workflow needs. For larger HTML, use a JSON POST request rather than putting the content in a query string.
- Inspect the resulting file. Check dimensions, format, crop, legibility, product accuracy, unwanted browser artifacts, and the target marketplace’s rules. A successful render is not marketplace approval.
- Upload through the marketplace’s current seller workflow. Amazon describes image upload as part of listing creation and Seller Central management. Flipkart’s listing API represents an image URL in listing data; consult Seller Hub and current instructions for the product vertical.
Check Amazon.in rules before designing the image
Amazon Seller Central India says, “Every product requires at least one compliant main image.” The MAIN image is shown first on the detail page and in search results. The India-specific guide says it should accurately represent the product, show the product at 85% of the image, keep the entire product in frame, and show only one unit and included accessories. It also disallows misleading images and temporary placeholders.

For images generally, the guide prohibits inaccurate content and generally prohibits text or pricing details, review imagery, seller-specific information, and Amazon marks or badges. Some additional-image variants may show other views or product details. Follow the rules for the particular image role and category rather than applying the MAIN-image restrictions indiscriminately to every image.

Do not assume Amazon rules apply to Flipkart
Flipkart’s Listing Management API reference covers creating and managing marketplace listings, and its product schema includes a conditional product_image_url field. Its Create Listings API describes JSON requests and notes that listing rules can change, so clients should handle errors explicitly. This confirms that an image URL can be represented in listing data; it does not establish current visual requirements such as dimensions, file formats, composition, or acceptance criteria.
For a Flipkart listing, check Flipkart Seller Hub and the current instructions for your product vertical. Do not import Amazon’s pixel limits or composition rules as if they were Flipkart policy.

Choose HTML input or URL capture
Use HTML input for a controlled graphic
HTML is useful when you need a designed canvas with fixed dimensions, CSS positioning, typography, and a product image. ScreenshotOne documents HTML input as an option and recommends sending larger HTML or Markdown in a JSON POST body; its getting-started guide states a maximum POST body of 100 MiB. Its options documentation describes dimensions and selector-based capture controls. Check the vendor’s live documentation for current request details before shipping.

A URL capture renders a webpage rather than requiring you to send the page markup directly. This can suit a design already hosted at a stable URL. Review the capture for browser artifacts and confirm that the page loaded the intended product assets before using the output.

Keep credentials out of public client-side code and use HTTPS. Input modes and formats are service-specific; verify them in the API’s current documentation.
Render and validate the output
- Make the canvas dimensions explicit in the HTML and CSS. Set the output dimensions to match the intended use, then confirm the saved file’s actual pixel dimensions.
- Use the real product image and verified copy. Check that CSS scaling, cropping, or overlays have not changed the product’s apparent colour, quantity, accessories, or proportions.
- Choose an output format accepted by the target marketplace. For Amazon.in, the India guide lists JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and non-animated GIF, with JPEG recommended.
- Open the actual output file—not only the source webpage—and inspect sharpness, legibility, layout, crop, blank areas, and browser artifacts.
- Check every visible element against the marketplace’s current image guidance for the relevant role and category. Do this before upload; the API only renders.
- Upload using the current seller workflow and check the resulting listing. Do not treat a successful API response as evidence of marketplace acceptance.

- The file has the wrong dimensions. Check the requested viewport or capture dimensions and any scaling applied in CSS; inspect the saved file’s pixel dimensions rather than relying on the browser layout size.
- The product is cropped or too small. Adjust the image container and CSS sizing, then render again. For Amazon MAIN images, check the full-product framing and 85% image occupancy rule.
- Text or product details are hard to read. Review the rendered file at its final pixel size and simplify or reposition layout elements. A page that looks legible in a large browser window may not remain legible in the exported image.
- The result shows a blank or incomplete page. Confirm that the source URL is reachable and its product assets load, then inspect the captured output. Rendering success alone does not prove the page contained the intended content.
- A marketplace rejects the image. Recheck the current guidance for that marketplace, category, and image role. Do not assume API output means the image passed a policy review; for Flipkart, the cited API material does not specify visual acceptance rules.
- A large HTML request fails. Use a JSON POST body when supported instead of placing extensive markup in a query string, and observe the screenshot service’s documented request-size limits.
Cost, performance, and reliability considerations
Plan for the full pipeline: source-image preparation, HTML rendering, output inspection, and marketplace upload. Rendering may succeed while the image remains inaccurate, incorrectly framed, or unsuitable under marketplace policy. If the HTML is large, the API’s POST support and request-size limit matter; for any service, verify current limits and output controls in its live documentation. Avoid exposing API credentials in browser-side code, and build explicit handling for failed requests and incomplete pages rather than assuming every response is a usable image.
