Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse your radio automation system as the audio source and a compatible encoder as the delivery link to YouTube Live. Route the playout audio into the encoder, enter the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, then check the preview; for a scheduled broadcast, you must also click Go live in Live Control Room.
How the connection works
The automation system schedules and plays your station audio—tracks, jingles, voiceovers, or other playout. An encoder takes that audio, adds video if needed, and sends the broadcast to YouTube. YouTube Live Control Room creates or schedules the stream, supplies the connection details, and shows whether the encoder is reaching YouTube. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe entering the server URL and stream key in the encoder.

The automation system may output audio through a sound device or mixer, or it may support a direct output to a compatible streaming encoder. The exact routing controls depend on your automation software, operating system, and audio setup. RadioDJ is one example: its documentation describes Auto DJ, event scheduling, multiple sound-device outputs, and use of an external encoder for streaming. RadioDJ features

- Choose the signal path. Check your automation software’s output options. If it can send audio directly to a compatible encoder, use that route. Otherwise, select its sound-device or mixer output and make that device available as the encoder’s audio input.
- Create or schedule the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. YouTube requires these details in the encoder’s server and stream-key fields. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Route the audio into the encoder. In the encoder, select the output device or audio input carrying the automation playout. Start a track and confirm that the encoder’s audio meter responds. If you want video, add an appropriate visual source, such as a station graphic or camera; the audio automation alone does not supply a visual.
- Set the encoder’s YouTube connection. Choose YouTube as the service if the encoder offers it. Otherwise, enter the current server URL and stream key manually. Use the RTMPS address shown by Live Control Room if your encoder supports it. RTMPS sends RTMP over a TLS/SSL connection. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- Connect and check the preview. Start the encoder. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and confirm that the expected audio—and video, if configured—is present. For a scheduled stream, click Go live in Live Control Room after the preview appears; connecting the encoder is not itself the scheduled launch.
- End the broadcast cleanly. Stop the stream from the encoder and use the Live Control Room controls as appropriate for your broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after ending. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
Choose the encoder and audio route
First establish whether your automation software has native output to a compatible streaming encoder. If not, use an encoder that can take audio from the sound device or mixer output where the automation is playing. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; OBS is one software example, with documentation for encoded audio/video output and RTMP streaming. OBS Studio: Streaming with OBS Studio
#1 Best Overall
- 12-channel mixer featuring Mackie signature high-headroom/low-noise design
- 4 boutique-quality Onyx mic preamps
- Improved RF rejection perfect for broadcast applications
- Phantom power for condenser mics
- 12 high-headroom line inputs
Check that the encoder can use the audio input you intend, that its operating system and device configuration match your setup, and whether it supports RTMPS. Also decide whether a static station image is enough or you need a more involved visual production. A microphone is optional if you want to speak live; it is not necessary just to send audio already produced by the automation system. YouTube Help: Create a live stream on mobile
Protect the stream key
Treat the stream key as a credential: it lets an encoder connect to your YouTube stream. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots. If you believe it has been exposed, replace or reset it using the stream settings in Live Control Room, then update the encoder with the current key. Use the URL and key shown for your own stream rather than relying on an old setup note. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

Troubleshoot common problems
- No audio in YouTube preview: Check that the automation system is playing to the device or bus selected by the encoder. Verify the encoder’s audio input selection, mute state, and input level. If the encoder meter is silent, resolve the routing between the automation output and encoder before changing YouTube settings.
- The encoder will not connect: Compare the server URL and stream key with the current values in Live Control Room. If using RTMPS, make sure the address uses that protocol and the encoder supports it.
- The preview appears, but a scheduled broadcast is not live: Wait for the preview, then click Go live in Live Control Room. The encoder connection alone does not publish the scheduled stream.
- Audio reaches YouTube, but the picture is missing or unsuitable: Check that the encoder has a valid visual source selected. Add a station graphic or another appropriate source if you do not intend to use a camera.
- The stream disconnects after a key change: Update the encoder with the key currently shown for that YouTube stream, then reconnect and verify the preview.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded radio programming playing on YouTube without leaving your own computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos in the cloud; it does not take a live microphone or camera feed. Nothing has to stay on at home, it plays your upload as made up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
