To loop Indian music videos into YouTube Live with FFmpeg, put their file paths in an FFconcat text playlist, then use -stream_loop -1 before the playlist input and -re to pace file playback in real time. The files should have compatible streams; otherwise, normalize them before concatenating. YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe interval, H.264 video and AAC audio are a straightforward compatibility choice, and you should test the entire playlist in Live Control Room before relying on it.
1. Check the videos and prepare the playlist
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer reads a text script and presents its listed files as one sequential input. It expects the files to have the same streams, including compatible codecs and time bases. If your videos differ substantially in codec, dimensions, frame rate, pixel format, aspect ratio or audio layout, normalize them to a consistent format first; simply looping the playlist does not resolve incompatibilities.

Inspect the files
Before building a long playlist, compare the video and audio streams in each file. Confirm that every entry has the picture and sound you expect, and note differences in codecs, frame rates, dimensions and audio channels. FFmpeg’s documentation warns that concat inputs need matching streams; inaccurate duration information can also cause artifacts.

ffconcat version 1.0, must be the first line exactly, with no byte-order mark or preceding text, for automatic format recognition. - Use one
fileline for each video, in the order you want it played. The file paths must be accessible to the FFmpeg process. - Quote paths containing spaces or special characters as required by FFconcat syntax. Test those paths rather than assuming shell quoting rules and playlist-file quoting rules are interchangeable.
- If a file’s duration is inaccurate and causes timing artifacts, FFmpeg’s concat demuxer supports an explicit
durationdirective. Confirm the actual duration before adding one.
2. Run FFmpeg with an indefinitely repeating input
Use -stream_loop -1 to repeat the concat input indefinitely. Place it before the corresponding -i. Use -re with file input to read packets at the media’s native rate, rather than sending a prerecorded playlist as quickly as FFmpeg can process it.

Replace the playlist path, stream-key placeholder and bitrate as needed. The example uses -safe 0 to permit the absolute paths shown in the playlist; only use playlist entries you trust. The command re-encodes to H.264 video and AAC audio, rather than blindly copying the source streams.
Match the keyframe interval and video rate
YouTube’s current live encoder guidance recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and sets a maximum of 4 seconds. In the example, -g 60 gives a 2-second GOP at 30 fps. Adjust the GOP size if you choose a different frame rate: for example, the interval is approximately the GOP size divided by frames per second.

YouTube’s published recommended H.264 video bitrate ranges are:

These are YouTube recommendations, not guaranteed viewer-quality results. Choose for the output resolution and frame rate, and ensure your sustained upload capacity can carry the stream. YouTube’s advanced recommendations list 128 Kbps audio and 44.1 kHz sampling for stereo; the example uses those values.
Configure YouTube Live ingest
In YouTube Live’s stream configuration, select an ingest protocol supported by the configuration. YouTube supports RTMP and RTMPS and recommends RTMPS, the encrypted version of RTMP, where available. Its current encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 video, and AAC or MP3 audio; this example chooses H.264 and AAC for a simple broadly compatible output.

Copy the stream key from YouTube Live Control Room into the destination URL in your command. Treat it as a password: do not publish it, commit it to a public script repository or expose it in logs or screenshots. If you need to share a script, replace the real key with a placeholder.
3. Test the playlist before going live
Test with two representative files first, then test the complete playlist and a full transition back to its beginning. The concat demuxer’s sequential input and the loop option do not guarantee seamless transitions, especially when source streams differ or duration metadata is inaccurate.
- Run FFmpeg locally and verify it can open every playlist path.
- Check the output for stream-mapping failures, missing audio and non-monotonic timestamp warnings, especially when a new video starts.
- Confirm that the outgoing picture and audio match the intended resolution, frame rate and channel layout.
- Start a private or otherwise appropriate test stream in YouTube Live Control Room and check the platform’s stream-health indicators and messages.
- Monitor the stream during the test, including transitions between entries and the loop back to the first video. YouTube recommends testing with representative movement and audio and monitoring stream health.
4. Troubleshoot common playlist failures

5. Copyright and YouTube channel considerations
Only stream music videos you have the rights or permission to use. A video being publicly available online does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it. Music and video rights can involve different rights holders, and a claim, block or other restriction may affect a live stream. Check the permissions for every playlist entry and YouTube’s current policies before broadcasting.

Looping prerecorded videos also does not guarantee monetization or channel approval. Reused-content and monetization decisions depend on YouTube’s channel policies and the content of the channel, not merely on whether FFmpeg can repeat a playlist. Review the applicable YouTube rules for your channel and region; do not assume that adding a live stream label changes the rights status or originality of the underlying videos.

7. Cost and practical trade-offs
The FFmpeg approach uses open-source software, but it depends on a computer that can encode the selected output and a stable, sustained upload connection. Your practical cost includes the electricity and hardware time for keeping that machine running, plus the reliability burden of monitoring it. A cloud service shifts the always-on playback off your home setup; compare the convenience and recurring cost against the value of keeping your own FFmpeg process under your control.
