On a compatible Galaxy Tab, open Second screen from Quick Settings, then connect to it from a Windows PC with Windows + K. Choose Extend in Windows to get extra desktop space, or Duplicate to show the same screen on both devices. The setting starts the process; the PC must also support Wireless Display.
Check that your tablet and PC are compatible
Second screen is a built-in feature on supported Galaxy Tab models, not a general Android tablet setting. Samsung US lists Galaxy Tab S7, S8, S9 and S10 devices running One UI 3.1 or later, paired with select PCs that support Wireless Display and run Windows 10 version 2004 or higher. Samsung’s Connected Experience page describes support for Galaxy Tab S series from S7 onward, gives One UI 5.1.1 or later for its listed feature scope, recommends One UI 6.1.1 or later, and specifies Windows 10 20H2 or later. Regional eligibility guidance is not identical: Samsung Australia describes its instructions as intended for Australian variants and sets out its own software and Windows prerequisites. Check the guidance for your country and exact model rather than assuming every Galaxy Tab or Windows PC will work. Samsung’s Australian Second Screen guide is one example of region-specific instructions.

Connect the Galaxy Tab to Windows
- On the tablet: Open Quick Settings and tap Second screen. Keep that page open while pairing; Samsung says the PC can see the tablet while the page remains open.
- On the PC: Press Windows + K to open the wireless display connection panel, or go to Display settings and choose the option to connect to a wireless display.
- Select the tablet: Choose your Galaxy Tab from the devices Windows finds and allow the connection to complete.
- Choose how to use it: In Windows display settings, select Extend or Duplicate according to whether you want more workspace or the same view on both screens.
Samsung recommends keeping the devices close together and connected to the same Wi-Fi network for best results. Its cited setup uses Wireless Display; it does not require a cable.

Choose Extend or Duplicate

Windows also offers a second-screen-only mode in the instructions Samsung cites. You can adjust display arrangement, scaling and resolution in Windows display settings. Samsung says the tablet touchscreen can be used to navigate the PC interface.
If Windows does not find the tablet
- Confirm eligibility: Check the tablet model and One UI version, your regional Samsung guidance, and whether the PC supports Wireless Display and meets the applicable Windows requirement.
- Leave Second screen open: Return to the tablet’s Second screen page and keep it open during the connection attempt.
- Check the connection conditions: Bring the devices closer together and connect them to the same Wi-Fi network, as Samsung recommends.
- If it connects but mirrors the PC: Open Windows display settings and change the mode from Duplicate to Extend if you want separate desktop space.
- When finished: Disconnect the tablet from the Windows + K connection panel.
Feature availability and interface labels can vary by model, software version and region. Samsung’s US support instructions provide the setup steps and connection guidance.
