To ask Grandpa to reevaluate your farm in Stardew Valley, place one Diamond in Grandpa’s Shrine in the northwest corner of the farm. The Diamond triggers another evaluation; it does not add points. If your milestones bring your score to 12 or more, all four candles light and you can claim the Statue of Perfection from the shrine.

How to request a new evaluation

  1. Go to Grandpa’s Shrine in the far northwest corner of your farm.
  2. Offer one Diamond at the shrine to trigger a reassessment.
  3. Wait for Grandpa to return. The usual timing is the following day, though the event can be delayed until a game load or the first day of a new season. The shrine page transcribes its in-game note as: “Wait for my return at the dawn of the 3rd year.” Stardew Valley Wiki: Grandpa’s Shrine

The first evaluation happens at the beginning of Year 3, but you can request another one afterward if you did not earn four candles. You do not need to wait for a particular anniversary to use the Diamond.

What the reassessment checks

Grandpa scores farm milestones, not the Diamond itself. The Wiki lists 21 possible points across categories that include total earnings, Community Center progress, keys, skills, achievements, friendship, marriage, and pet affection. The candle thresholds are:

4–7 2
8–11 3
12 or more 4

These are the game-mechanic thresholds documented on the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Grandpa page. Your best next step depends on the milestones already completed in your save; the shrine does not show a personalized score breakdown.

What to do when four candles light

Once all four candles are lit, interact with Grandpa’s Shrine to receive the Statue of Perfection. The statue produces 2–8 Iridium Ore per day, according to the Grandpa reference page. If you do not see four candles after an evaluation, work toward additional eligible milestones and use another Diamond to request a later reassessment.

If the event does not appear as expected

  • Give it time: The usual return is the following day, but the event may wait until the game loads or a new season begins.
  • Check the farmhouse: A marriage cutscene can take precedence over the Year 3 evaluation scene. The shrine candles still reflect the evaluation, and the scene can play when you next enter the farmhouse.
  • Check the shrine itself: The candles show the evaluation outcome; four lit candles mean the statue is available to claim.

The cited Wiki pages include history through game version 1.6, with the shrine/farm page covering 1.6.15. They do not establish that event timing is identical on every platform or version.
