Upload and schedule a new video remotely
- Sign in to the streaming service. Use its website or mobile app, depending on the workflow it supports.
- Create or open the 24/7 stream or playlist. Confirm that the selected service and plan support continuous streaming to YouTube. OneStream’s documented 24/7 feature is YouTube-only and requires Enterprise.
- Add the video. Select a file from your phone or computer, the service’s own storage, or a connected cloud account if offered. OneStream documents device uploads and imports from its storage or cloud storage such as Google Drive and Dropbox. - Check the order and broadcast settings. Verify the playlist order, destination YouTube channel, and any schedule or duration limits before starting.
- Schedule or start the broadcast. Confirm that YouTube is the selected destination and that the service shows the intended video or playlist before you leave the setup screen.
Can you add a video after the stream is already live?
Do not assume so. OneStream’s guide confirms video selection during setup but does not document edits to an active 24/7 broadcast. Restream is explicit: playlist videos can be added, removed, or reordered only before the playlist goes live; while it is airing, only graphics and chat can be edited. If a live stream must keep running, check the provider’s current controls before relying on a mid-stream addition. Otherwise, prepare the next playlist or schedule before airtime.

When an API or encoder route makes sense
YouTube’s Live Streaming API models an event as a liveBroadcast resource and its incoming signal as a liveStream resource, with methods to create, bind, update, and manage them. For developers operating an encoder, YouTube’s HLS ingestion documentation describes sending media playlists and segments to YouTube. It specifies muxed audio and video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, a closed GOP, and up to 60 fps. Common problems and checks
- The video is not available in the upload picker: Check that it is stored on the device or in a connected account the service supports. Google Drive and Dropbox are documented sources for OneStream and Restream; other integrations may differ.
- You cannot edit the playlist: If the broadcast is already live, this may be a product limit rather than an upload error. Restream restricts playlist changes to before airtime; OneStream’s cited guide does not establish active editing.
- The stream is scheduled for too long: OneStream’s documented 24/7 broadcast maximum is 30 days per scheduled stream. Split the schedule or verify the service’s current limits before committing to a longer run.
- The playlist ends sooner than expected: A Restream playlist is limited to 24 hours and 40 entries. Its sequential back-to-back playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer, rather than one continuous mutable playlist.
- The broadcast is going to the wrong destination: Recheck the selected YouTube channel and stream details before starting. A playlist selection alone does not verify the destination.
Cost and planning considerations
Compare the plan requirement, broadcast duration, playlist length, accepted upload sources, destination support, and whether the playlist can be edited after it starts.
