On a Mac, use YouTube Studio in a desktop browser: select Create > Upload videos, choose your video files, review each video’s details, and add them to an existing playlist or create one. You can select up to 15 videos per upload batch. These steps assume “stream files” means video files; audio-only files must first be turned into videos by adding an image.
Before you start: check what kind of files you have
YouTube Studio’s computer upload flow is for video files, not standalone audio files. If your recordings are audio-only, first use video-editing software to pair each recording with an image and export it as a video. YouTube explains the upload requirements and audio conversion option in its computer upload guide.

Use a desktop browser on your Mac and sign in to the YouTube channel that should own the uploads. Make sure you own the rights to the recordings or have the licenses needed to upload them.

Upload multiple videos and add them to a playlist
- Open YouTube Studio. In a desktop browser, sign in to the correct channel.
- Choose Create > Upload videos. Select the video files in the Mac file picker. YouTube’s computer help says, “You can upload up to 15 videos at a time.”
- Review each video’s details. Open Edit for each selected video and enter its own title, description, and other requested details. Selecting files together does not apply one shared set of details to all of them.
- Assign the playlist. In the upload details, use Playlist to select an existing playlist or create one. Repeat for each video that belongs in the playlist.
- Choose audience and visibility carefully. Complete the audience setting and choose a visibility option. You can upload privately and make a video public later; uploading and publishing are separate actions.
- Finish the upload and check the result. After processing, open Content > Playlists in Studio to find and manage the playlist.

This route is useful when you want to set the playlist’s title, visibility, and order before assigning videos to it.

- In YouTube Studio, select Create > New playlist.
- Enter the playlist title and description.
- Choose the playlist visibility and ordering options.
- Select Add videos, choose the videos to include, then select Create.
You can later open Content > Playlists to edit the playlist. To change its sequence, drag videos into the order you want. YouTube documents these controls in its playlist management guide.
Choose the route that fits your workflow

Visibility, rights, and playlist checks
- Review before publishing: Use Private or Unlisted while checking a video, or schedule it if that suits your publishing plan. A public video becomes available after saving and processing.
- Confirm rights: Upload only content you own or are licensed to use. Copyright permission and YouTube policy compliance are separate from the mechanics of adding a video to a playlist.
- Check playlist membership and order: Open Content > Playlists, edit the playlist, and drag items to reorder them. You can also add videos to an existing playlist from search, a URL, or your library as described by YouTube.
- Do not confuse standard playlists with partner tools: Some YouTube Studio features and Content Manager workflows are restricted to eligible partners; they are not required for ordinary creator playlist uploads. YouTube’s course help describes a separate specialized feature.
Common problems and fixes
- The file picker will not accept an audio recording: YouTube does not upload an audio-only file as a video. Add an image in a video editor, export a video file, and upload that.
- A video is missing from the playlist: Open that video’s details and check its Playlist selection, then inspect Content > Playlists.
- The videos appear in the wrong sequence: Edit the playlist and drag the videos into the desired order.
- A video is visible sooner than intended: Check its visibility before finishing the upload. For a review period, choose a non-public visibility option rather than Public.
- You cannot find a partner-only option: Standard video uploads and playlists do not require Content Manager access. Use the regular Studio upload and playlist controls.
