If it is interrupted, YouTube says you can resume by selecting the same file at youtube.com/upload within 24 hours. Add the video to a playlist after the upload completes using the current playlist controls in YouTube Studio.
Check YouTube’s limits before starting
YouTube’s current stated maximum is 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. Videos longer than 15 minutes require a verified account. For desktop uploads of files larger than 20 GB, YouTube advises using an up-to-date browser. Confirm these requirements before investing time in a long upload: YouTube’s upload limits and requirements.

- Over 15 minutes: verify the account before uploading.
- Over 20 GB on desktop: use an up-to-date browser.
- Over 256 GB or 12 hours: the video exceeds YouTube’s stated maximum; export a smaller file or shorten it.
These are YouTube upload limits, not JioFiber limits. YouTube also notes that slow or unstable internet is a common reason uploads take longer than expected.
Estimate how long your JioFiber upload may take
Use the video’s file size and your measured upload speed—not the download speed advertised in a plan. As a theoretical lower bound, convert the file size to bits and divide by upload speed in bits per second. For example, a 10 GB file is about 80 gigabits; at a sustained 20 Mbps upload speed, the calculation gives roughly 4,000 seconds, or 67 minutes. This is only a rough minimum, not a JioFiber guarantee. Network overhead, changing speeds, interruptions, and YouTube’s processing can make the full process take longer.

Jio’s plan information describes symmetrical upload and download speeds, but a broad plan statement does not establish the speed available on your specific plan, at your home, or at the time you upload. TRAI says providers must state typical upload and download speeds in tariff offerings; you can also measure your connection using the TRAI MySpeed app or portal. Compare the result with your plan’s stated typical upload speed. If the speed is low or varies widely, investigate the local connection before deciding that you need a different plan.
Prepare the connection and upload
- Make sure the file meets YouTube’s limits and the channel is eligible. Verify the account if the video is longer than 15 minutes, and use an up-to-date browser for desktop files above 20 GB.
- Measure sustained upload speed. Use an upload-speed measurement rather than relying on a download result or a plan’s headline speed. If practical, measure while other household devices are idle.
- Pause heavy internet activity on other devices. Jio notes that active Wi-Fi devices use bandwidth and simultaneous heavy applications can congest the connection. Pause large downloads, backups, and other demanding activity for the duration of the upload.
- Try a wired connection if Wi-Fi may be the problem. Connecting the computer directly to the router by Ethernet can help determine whether Wi-Fi is contributing to instability. A Cat 6 Ethernet cable is an optional way to test this; it does not guarantee higher speed or change the speed of your subscribed plan.
- Upload through YouTube and keep an eye on progress. The time can range from minutes to hours depending on file size, available bandwidth, upload traffic, format, and quality. YouTube notes that 4K video takes longer to upload than 1080p. If the upload is progressing slowly, avoid cancelling it just because the estimate is long. YouTube Help advises: “If you’re experiencing any of these issues, we recommend that you let your video finish uploading to YouTube.” See YouTube’s guidance for a video stuck during upload.
- Resume an interrupted upload promptly. Within 24 hours, return to youtube.com/upload and select the same file to continue where the upload left off, as described by YouTube Help. Use the original file rather than an edited or re-exported version.
- Add the uploaded video to the playlist. After the upload has completed, check YouTube Studio for the current playlist workflow. The desktop and mobile controls can change, so use the playlist control currently shown in Studio rather than relying on outdated click-by-click directions.
Reduce file size without guessing at quality
If your file is larger than YouTube’s limit, YouTube recommends compressing it in video-editing software using H.264 while maintaining suitable quality. Export a smaller version, then check its picture and audio before uploading. Compression can reduce detail or introduce artifacts, so compare the result with the original at the resolution and on the devices your audience is likely to use. If the video is already within the limit, compression is optional: a smaller file may upload sooner, but only if the quality trade-off is acceptable.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
JioFiber usage note for repeated large uploads
Jio’s current prepaid service terms cite 3300 GB in a 30-day recharge cycle as a threshold that may be treated as misuse of unlimited benefits on applicable plans. This is not a per-video upload limit and does not mean that one upload near that size is automatically prohibited. If you upload very large volumes repeatedly, check the terms attached to your own JioFiber plan.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded video streaming live on YouTube rather than upload a video for an ordinary playlist, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. This is for YouTube live streaming of uploaded videos, not live camera broadcasting. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
