Why Good Lock modules need their own update check
Good Lock is a Samsung app that manages separate customization modules. Those modules are distributed and updated like apps; they do not automatically become current simply because the phone receives a new One UI build. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing describes Good Lock’s plugin-management and bulk-update improvements, while Samsung’s India guide says additional applications can be downloaded or updated inside Good Lock.

That separation creates three versions to keep in mind:
- One UI and Android: the operating-system software installed on the Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Good Lock: the manager app that displays and launches Samsung’s customization modules.
- Individual modules: apps such as LockStar, each with its own version and release timing.
Updating modules first is a sensible compatibility precaution, not a Samsung-mandated guarantee. Compatibility can depend on the One UI release, the module version, the device model and regional availability. Some modules may still need a later release after One UI has been installed.

What to do before installing One UI
1. Make a list of the modules you use
Open Good Lock and review the installed or active modules. Concentrate on modules that change the lock screen, clock, quick panel, notifications, home screen, navigation, sound or other parts of the interface. You do not need to install every available module; the pre-update check is about the modules already on your device and the features you rely on.
Good Lock’s labels can change between releases. Look for an update area, an update indicator, or an Update all control. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing records improvements to plugin bulk updates, so the exact button arrangement may differ from screenshots made with an older release.
2. Update Good Lock itself when an update is offered
Before updating plugins, check whether Good Lock has its own Galaxy Store update. The current Samsung Galaxy Store listing records Good Lock version 3.0.16.6, dated 2026-07-14. The version shown to you can differ by device, country and rollout stage, so use the listing served for your Galaxy device rather than treating that number as a universal requirement.

3. Run Good Lock’s module update control
- Launch Good Lock.
- Open the section that shows your installed modules or available updates.
- Choose Update all if that control is displayed, or update the modules you use one at a time.
- Wait for each installation to finish, then reopen the module list and confirm that the update indicator has cleared.
Do not assume that an installed module is current just because Good Lock opens it successfully. A module can work on the present One UI version while still having a newer build available for the upcoming release.
4. Use Galaxy Store when Good Lock does not show an update
If a module still appears outdated, open its details or store page from Good Lock. Samsung’s LockStar troubleshooting instructions use the following route: check the installed version in Good Lock, select Go to store, and tap Update if Galaxy Store offers one.
- In Good Lock, select the affected module.
- Open its details and note the installed version.
- Tap Go to store (the wording can vary slightly).
- In Galaxy Store, install Update if it is available.
- Return to Good Lock and verify the module’s displayed version.
If Galaxy Store also shows no update, do not substitute an unofficial APK. Samsung may be staging the release, withholding it for a particular model or region, or preparing a build that is not yet published for your software version. Check again after One UI is updated.

Install the One UI update normally
Once the modules you use are current—or no newer versions are offered—install One UI through Samsung’s standard system-update screen. On many Galaxy devices the path is Settings > Software update > Download and install; menu names can vary with the device and One UI release.
Follow the prompts shown by the phone, allow the update to complete, and do not interrupt the restart sequence. Samsung’s published material does not require a special order beyond the practical precaution of checking module updates first. Updating modules before the operating system reduces the chance that you knowingly begin with an old plugin, but it cannot ensure that every feature will work after the upgrade.
Check Good Lock again after One UI finishes
After the phone reboots into the new One UI version, open Good Lock and Galaxy Store again. A module that had no update before the operating-system installation may now have a compatible release. Samsung’s support example for LockStar specifically tells users to check back when the needed update is not yet available.
- Open Good Lock and review the installed modules.
- Run Update all if available, or update individual modules.
- For any module still flagged as old, open its page and use Go to store.
- In Galaxy Store, install an offered update and relaunch the module.
- Test the customization feature you depend on, such as a lock-screen clock, before changing several other settings.
Module releases can roll out gradually. There is no published universal waiting period, and Samsung does not publish a fixed number of days in which every module must be updated after One UI.
A documented One UI 8 and LockStar compatibility example
Samsung provides a concrete example showing why the second check matters. On Android 16 with One UI 8, Samsung says LockStar version 7.0.00.14 can cause the Adaptive Clock (also called Stretch Clock) feature to malfunction. Samsung’s stated fix is LockStar version 7.0.1.10, which “includes fixes for this problem.”
To apply that specific guidance:
- Verify that the device is running Android 16 / One UI 8.
- Open Good Lock and inspect the installed LockStar version.
- If it is 7.0.00.14, select Go to store.
- Install LockStar 7.0.1.10 if Galaxy Store offers it.
- Reopen LockStar and test Adaptive Clock or Stretch Clock.
Those version numbers apply to Samsung’s documented Android 16 / One UI 8 issue. They are not a permanent minimum for LockStar on every future One UI release, and they should not be generalized to other modules.

Which update route should you use?

Device, software and regional limits
Samsung’s Good Lock Galaxy Store listing says the app is available on Samsung devices running Android 8.0 or higher, while warning that some devices may not be supported. Samsung India likewise says that feature and application availability can vary by device and software version.
- A phone that meets the Android-version requirement may still lack a particular module.
- A tablet and a phone can receive different module availability or behavior.
- Galaxy Store listings and rollout timing can differ by country or region.
- One UI beta builds may temporarily leave modules unavailable while compatibility work is completed.
Use the Good Lock and Galaxy Store listings shown for your own device and region. Do not interpret the presence of a module in Samsung’s general documentation as a promise that it will appear on every Galaxy model.

What to do when a module will not update
Good Lock shows the old version after an update
Close and reopen Good Lock, then revisit the module details. If the version is still unchanged, use Go to store and inspect the Galaxy Store listing directly. The store page is the authoritative place to see whether an update is actually published for that device.

The module page has no Update button
Leave the installed version in place, complete the One UI update through the normal system updater, and check again afterward. Samsung’s LockStar instructions explicitly recommend checking back when the update is not yet available. Do not install a package from an unofficial source to force the process.
Good Lock or Galaxy Store cannot find the module
Check the device model, Android/One UI version and Samsung account or regional store context. Availability can vary by those factors. A missing listing is not proof that the module has been discontinued; it may simply not be supported or released for that configuration.

A module opens but a feature is broken
Record the module name, installed version and One UI version. Search Samsung Support for an issue that matches all three, rather than applying a version number from a different module or operating-system release. The LockStar 7.0.00.14 example is specific to Adaptive Clock / Stretch Clock on Android 16 and One UI 8.
Several modules fail during a beta period
Samsung community guidance has noted that some Good Lock features can be temporarily unavailable during One UI beta periods while compatibility work is completed. Treat community posts as contextual information, not as a promised release schedule. Check Samsung’s store listings and official support pages for the build installed on your device.

When a major One UI upgrade is imminent, note the installed version shown for each module you depend on, especially one that controls a critical lock-screen or navigation feature. This gives you a clear comparison if a setting changes after the reboot. The useful record is the module name, its displayed version, the device’s Android/One UI version and whether Galaxy Store offered an update. Samsung’s LockStar example demonstrates why all three version contexts matter: a number that fixes one Android/One UI combination is not automatically the right answer for another.
If Good Lock’s update screen and the individual Galaxy Store listing disagree, rely on the listing for the device and region. Good Lock is the manager, but Galaxy Store is where Samsung publishes the installable package and its current availability. Reopen Good Lock after the store installation so its displayed version catches up.
Do not treat beta behavior as a normal release promise
During a One UI beta, a module can be temporarily unavailable even when it worked on the previous stable build. Community moderators have described compatibility work and separate module rollouts in that context, but those posts do not establish a guaranteed date for a fix. If you are on a beta build, expect the update controls and feature support to change as Samsung publishes compatible versions. Use official listings for confirmation instead of assuming that a missing button means your installation is damaged.
