Where to find Vaelor and how to start
Nerd’s Chalk’s walkthrough, updated September 21, 2026, places Vaelor on the Roslit Bay shoreline near the dock marked Mariana’s Veil Location, at approximately -1415, 134, 482. The first stage, “Chart the Veil,” requires discovering all of Mariana’s Veil. “Worthy of the Abyss” then directs you to Vaelor’s descendants. Read the walkthrough.

Prerequisite access to Veil of the Forsaken
The full descendant route requires access to Veil of the Forsaken. The community guide describes reaching it through the Calm Zone, a gate opened by placing fish on pedestals, a chess-statue puzzle, and an initial Scylla encounter. These are access prerequisites, separate from the five descendant objectives below; use the in-game prompts for the current puzzle details.
Complete Vaelor’s five descendant quests
The walkthrough names five descendants in five regions. It presents the sequence below as a convenient order, not a mandatory one. Catch requirements and mutation labels are version-sensitive, so check each active quest before fishing.

The guide says completing the five quests unlocks Mariana’s Gauntlets. Its quest walkthrough provides the listed objectives; compare them with Vaelor’s current quest text if the game has been updated.
Complete the Scylla and Obsidian gate steps
After the descendant quests, return to Vaelor for “Into the Void” and “The Obsidian Threshold.” The guide describes the progression as follows:
- For “Into the Void,” make a perfect catch on Scylla, then jump into the abyss as instructed.
- In Obsidian Pocket, speak with Vaelor to learn your personal riddle’s answer. The answer identifies a rod and mutation combination for a Scylla catch; the guide says this catch does not need to be perfect.
- Activate the five layer gems and open the Abyss Gate to enter Obsidian Trench.
The riddle’s answer varies by player, so a rod-and-mutation combination from another player is not a universal solution. Ask Vaelor for your answer and match it to the quest objective.

Complete the Obsidian Trench Bestiary
Nerd’s Chalk’s September 21, 2026 guide lists 12 Bestiary entries: ten standard catches and two special encounters. Trench Suppression lowers lure speed inside the trench. The guide says glowing white crystals can temporarily relieve it through an “Absorb” interaction.
- Standard entries: Pumice Puffer, Scoria Scorpionfish, Ash-Cloud Angelfish, Obsidian Gaveltooth, Cinder-Crust Gar, Tectonic Toadfish, Basalt Behemoth, Magma-Glass Marlin, Shatter-Tooth Shark, and Shatterjaw Shark.
- Special encounters: Veiled Charybdis and Skolopendra. The guide describes a separate hazard meter for Charybdis. Skolopendra’s awakening is catch-triggered; once it appears, defeat it in its dedicated boss minigame to complete the entry.
The same guide lists Night and Meteor or Stag Beetle bait for Charybdis, and Rain and Kraken Tentacle bait for Skolopendra. These encounter preferences can change, and the source is a community walkthrough; use the current in-game Bestiary and encounter prompts as the final reference.

Once Vaelor’s questline, the boss step, and the trench Bestiary are complete, the walkthrough directs players to the floating rod crystal on the illuminated central shop pedestal in Obsidian Trench. A separate unofficial fan wiki says the rod costs C$5,000,000 and requires Vaelor’s questline plus 100% of the trench Bestiary. Fisch Wiki’s rod entry is community-maintained; check the live shop prompt for the actual price and requirements in your game.
