The shop’s current selection and each item’s tier panel are the best guides to what is available and how many Prisms it costs: Blizzard has changed the tier structure, and its earlier pricing and Battle Pass rules are not a reliable description of every later season.
How to unlock a Mythic cosmetic
- Open the Mythic Shop in Overwatch. Browse the live selection and choose the hero skin or weapon cosmetic you want.
- Review its tier panel. Check the current Prism cost and what each tier adds before spending. Some Mythics offer the full design at Tier 1, while later tiers add optional customization.
- Get Mythic Prisms. Blizzard has described earning Prisms through Premium Battle Pass progression and buying additional Prisms in game. Pass rewards can change, so check the current pass for its actual Prism rewards.
- Unlock the item and any desired options. Follow the tier sequence and confirm the total shown in the shop before confirming the purchase.
Mythic Prisms are the currency used for Mythic Shop cosmetics. Blizzard’s original Mythic Shop FAQ said they could not be replaced with Overwatch Coins or Credits. Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ documents that original system; check the current in-game shop for today’s rules and costs.

Why older Mythic prices do not describe every skin
Under the original published pricing, a Mythic hero skin’s base level cost 50 Prisms, and each of three additional customization levels cost 10, for 80 Prisms in total. Tiers unlocked sequentially, with an “unlock all” option for players who had enough currency.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →In that original system, Blizzard said a completed Premium Battle Pass could award 80 Prisms—enough for one skin and its customizations at those prices. It also said the free pass and challenges did not award Prisms at that time. These were rules for the system described in Blizzard’s original FAQ, not guarantees for later seasons. Consult the current Battle Pass and Mythic Shop rather than budgeting from the historical 80-Prism figure.

What changed for newer Mythic hero skins
Blizzard announced that, beginning with Season 19, a Mythic hero skin’s complete design is available at Tier 1; later tiers add optional choices such as components, colors, and ambient effects. That differs from the older structure, where the base skin and customization levels were separate purchases. Do not assume every release has the same tier count, options, or pricing. See Blizzard’s Season 19 announcement for the change.

Can you still get an older Mythic skin?
Availability depends on the current shop rotation. Blizzard’s original Mythic Shop FAQ said the featured Mythic was available during its season and then left for the following two seasons. It also said players who unlocked a skin’s base level while it was featured could continue unlocking its customizations after it left; players who had not unlocked the base level would need to wait for its return. That describes the original rotation rules, not a verified schedule for every current or future season. Check the shop rather than assuming a particular older skin is available.

What are Iridescent Aspects?
Blizzard introduced Iridescent Aspects in Season 16 as special color variants for players who had unlocked every level of an eligible Mythic hero skin. The announcement said most then-available skins were receiving them, with an exception and later date for Juno’s Heart of Hope. Eligibility and availability can differ by skin, so look for an Aspect in the current game. Blizzard’s Season 16 announcement describes the original rollout.
