Mastery camos follow different progression ladders in Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III. MWII uses Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion; MWIII uses Gilded, Forged, Priceless, and Interstellar. The official guides define these as Multiplayer challenges. Warzone and DMZ have had separate event camo objectives, but the available official instructions do not confirm that standard Multiplayer mastery challenges currently track in either mode.
Which Modern Warfare mastery-camo track applies?
Check the game and weapon before grinding: the two Multiplayer ladders have different names and thresholds. MWII progress can continue in MWIII, but MWII completionist camos remain limited to the MWII weapons on which they were unlocked.

| Game and track | Completionist sequence | Cross-weapon threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Modern Warfare II Multiplayer | Gold → Platinum → Polyatomic → Orion | 51 Platinum challenges for Polyatomic access; 51 Polyatomic challenges for Orion |
| Modern Warfare III Multiplayer | Gilded → Forged → Priceless → Interstellar | Category-level requirements for Forged; 36 Forged challenges for Priceless; 36 Priceless challenges for Interstellar |
These are challenge counts, not requirements to finish every weapon. Individual weapon tasks and category thresholds can differ. The official camo guide identifies the two Multiplayer tracks separately.

Do mastery camos progress in Warzone or DMZ?
The official instructions describe Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion as MWII Multiplayer completionist camos, and Gilded, Forged, Priceless, and Interstellar as MWIII Multiplayer completionist camos. They do not establish that these standard mastery challenges currently count in Warzone or DMZ. Check the challenge text in your game before planning a mode-specific grind.

Warzone and DMZ have also hosted separate event camo objectives. For example, Activision’s Season 05 Reloaded announcement described event camo challenges, including one labeled DMZ Only. That is an event-specific objective, not confirmation that the standard Multiplayer mastery ladder tracks in DMZ.

What carries from MWII into MWIII?
MWII individual weapon camos, completionist camos, and mastery challenges carry forward into MWIII, so unfinished MWII unlocks can be continued there. However, MWII Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion can only be equipped on the corresponding MWII weapons for which they were unlocked; they cannot be applied to MWIII weapons. Activision’s camo and customization guidance explains the carry-forward restriction.

In MWII, each Weapon Mastery tier requires kills with that camo equipped after unlocking it. These are additional challenges, not steps required to earn the camo itself.
