To play Kintaro in Ravenswatch, you need two separate things: the free version 1.6.0 game update and the separately sold Kintaro Hero DLC. Updating the game alone does not add the hero. You must also own the Ravenswatch base game and obtain the DLC through the storefront for your platform.
Passtech Games announced that the Kintaro DLC went live on October 12, 2026. The update rollout covers Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The exact price, regional availability and storefront purchase flow can differ, so treat the update and the paid add-on as separate parts of the process.

The key distinction is ownership. Version 1.6.0 is a game update, while Kintaro is a Hero DLC product. Installing the former does not grant the latter.
How to unlock Kintaro
1. Update Ravenswatch to version 1.6.0
Start with the free update. On your platform, open the library or game-management page for Ravenswatch and apply any pending update. The version number you are looking for is 1.6.0. Platform menus use different labels, but the action is the same: allow the game client to download and install the current release before launching.

Passtech identifies version 1.6.0 as a free update for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. If your console or PC reports that the game is current but does not show a version number in the library, launch the game and check its title-screen or system-information display. Do not interpret the absence of a visible update prompt as proof that you own the DLC; it only indicates that the game software may already be current.
2. Confirm that you own the base game
The Kintaro add-on is not a standalone game. Steam’s Kintaro DLC listing says that the Ravenswatch base game is required. On a console, the same practical rule applies: the account and platform installation you use must have access to the base game as well as the add-on.
If you play from a physical copy, keep the disc or cartridge available according to that platform’s normal licensing rules. The official launch information does not establish a separate physical Kintaro product, guide, controller or accessory as necessary. Open the storefront associated with your gaming platform and search for the Kintaro Hero DLC for Ravenswatch. Confirm that the product is the hero add-on rather than a base-game bundle or another piece of downloadable content, then complete the purchase or redemption process shown by that storefront.

Storefront availability and pricing can vary by country, account, edition and platform. The official materials establish that Kintaro is sold as Hero DLC and that Steam lists it separately from the base game; they do not establish one universal price or a single cross-platform purchase entitlement. Buy the listing for the platform on which you intend to play.
4. Let the platform install or register the add-on
After obtaining the DLC, return to the game-management screen and allow the platform to finish any additional download or license registration. Some storefronts make the add-on available immediately after purchase; others may require you to select it from the game’s add-ons section or restart the title. Use the platform’s normal “manage game” or “downloadable content” controls rather than downloading an unrelated package.
5. Start the game and select Kintaro
Launch the updated game using the same platform account that obtained the DLC. The hero should appear through the game’s normal hero-selection flow. Official launch information describes this as a DLC acquisition, not as a challenge, quest or progression reward. If the game still presents Kintaro as unavailable, work through the troubleshooting checks below before attempting to repeat the purchase.

The announcement confirms the update rollout on these four platform families. It does not promise that a purchase on one platform automatically transfers to another, so do not assume cross-platform ownership unless your storefront explicitly states it.

Why the free update does not unlock Kintaro
Passtech’s release announcement discusses “Kintarō joins the Ravenswatch” as DLC released alongside a free update. That wording describes two connected releases, not one free character unlock. The update supplies the game-side changes for the new release; the Hero DLC supplies the playable hero.
This distinction explains the most common misunderstanding. A player can successfully download version 1.6.0 and still lack Kintaro because the account has not obtained the add-on. Conversely, buying the add-on without allowing the game to update can leave the installation unable to present the new content correctly. Complete both parts.
There is no in-game Kintaro challenge to complete
The official materials reviewed do not describe a level requirement, achievement, quest chain, currency cost, boss victory or other gameplay condition for Kintaro. They identify the character as Hero DLC. Do not spend time trying to unlock the hero through ordinary progression when the add-on is not present on your account.

Troubleshooting when Kintaro is missing
The game never offered version 1.6.0
- Check the platform’s game-management page rather than only the in-game menu.
- Confirm that you are checking the correct Ravenswatch installation and not a demo, cloud shortcut or different edition.
- Restart the platform client or console, then check for updates again.
- Verify that the device has enough storage and a working connection for the update to complete.
- If the platform reports that the game is current, start it and inspect the version information shown by the title or system screen.
The official rollout names version 1.6.0, so an older version number indicates that the update has not finished, even if the game opens.
Version 1.6.0 is installed, but Kintaro is locked
- Open the platform account’s purchase or library history and confirm that the Kintaro Hero DLC transaction completed.
- Check that the purchase belongs to the same account or console profile that launches Ravenswatch.
- Open the game’s add-on or downloadable-content management screen and verify that the DLC is installed or enabled.
- Close the game completely and relaunch it after the storefront finishes registering the license.
- Confirm that the base game is installed and licensed on that platform account; the Steam listing explicitly requires it.
A successful update by itself cannot resolve a missing DLC entitlement, because the update and the hero are separate products.
The storefront cannot find the DLC
Search using the full product name, “Kintaro Hero DLC,” and select the listing associated with Ravenswatch. Availability can differ by region and platform, and the official announcement does not provide one global storefront URL or price. If the listing is unavailable in your account’s region, contact that platform’s store support rather than buying an unrelated edition or a listing for another platform.
The DLC was bought but another player cannot use it
Licenses are tied to platform accounts and platform-sharing rules. The official Kintaro announcement does not specify family-sharing, console-sharing or cross-progression behavior. Check the sharing policy for your platform and make sure the account that owns the DLC is the one being used to launch the game before assuming the add-on failed.
You bought the DLC on the wrong platform
Do not assume that a Steam, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch purchase transfers between ecosystems. The rollout announcement lists all four platforms, but it does not state that Kintaro ownership is cross-buy. Review the storefront receipt and request help from the seller’s support channel if a purchase was made for the wrong platform.
What is known about price and availability

That means the reliable purchasing sequence is platform-specific: identify your platform, update the base game, open that platform’s listing, read the displayed price and edition details, and then obtain the add-on. Treat any price shown in a third-party article or an old store capture as potentially stale.

No special physical product, controller, guide, manual or accessory is identified as necessary for unlocking Kintaro. The practical requirements established by the release information are the Ravenswatch base game, version 1.6.0 and the Kintaro Hero DLC. Your platform may impose its ordinary account, storage and network requirements for downloading software, but those are not Kintaro-specific unlock items.
A final pre-launch checklist
- Base game: Your platform account can launch Ravenswatch.
- Game version: The installation is updated to version 1.6.0 or later release software that includes the launch update.
- DLC entitlement: The account owns the Kintaro Hero DLC, not merely the free update.
- Installation: The platform has completed any add-on download or license registration.
- Correct platform: The DLC was obtained for the same platform family on which you are playing.
- Account: You launched the game with the account that owns or is permitted to use the add-on under that platform’s rules.
Once all six checks pass, Kintaro should be available through the game’s ordinary hero-selection flow. There is no separate challenge or progression route identified by Passtech or the Steam DLC listing.
