How to Unlock Every Character in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (PS2, Xbox and Wii)

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has four Konquest unlocks: Meat, Daegon, Blaze and Taven. Collect relics for the first three and finish Konquest Mode for Taven. The Prima Official Game Guide sets the relic requirements at 10 for Meat, 40 for Daegon and 50 for Blaze. Two community reference lists give Daegon a different threshold, so that requirement needs a source-specific caveat. Community guides also report an alternative Krypt-code method, but the licensed guide describes these four fighters as Konquest unlocks.

Your platform changes the roster count. PS2 and Xbox have 62 playable fighters, while Wii has 63 because it adds Khameleon. Khameleon is not a fifth Konquest reward, so do not treat her absence from a PS2 or Xbox roster as a missed unlock.

The complete unlock list

This is the shortest reliable answer to “how do you unlock characters in Armageddon?” The table separates the licensed guide’s figures from the values reported by two contributor-maintained reference pages. The requirements are cumulative: you do not complete a special mission for each fighter, and you do not need to spend relics. You collect them in Konquest and reach the applicable total.

Character Prima Official Game Guide requirement Other published reference
Meat Collect 10 relics in Konquest Mode. 10 relics in GameFAQs and the Mortal Kombat Warehouse Krypt guide.
Daegon Collect 40 relics in Konquest Mode. 30 relics in the GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse lists.
Blaze Collect 50 relics in Konquest Mode. 50 relics in GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse.
Taven Complete Konquest Mode. Completion of Konquest in GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse.

The official guide’s headline statistic is: “There are 62 playable characters, but only four of them need to be unlocked.” It is attributed to Mortal Kombat Armageddon — Prima Official Game Guide (2006), available as a scanned PDF at Prima’s guide. In other words, the four names in the table are the complete set of locked characters identified for the main PS2 and Xbox roster; the rest are available without meeting a Konquest threshold.

  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Check your platform before you start

The base roster count is not identical on every disc. The PS2 and Xbox releases have 62 fighters. The Wii release has 63 because it adds Khameleon. That extra Wii character is a platform-specific addition, not one of the four Konquest unlocks. The platform distinction is documented in the Mortal Kombat: Armageddon reference entry.

Version Roster figure What the difference means
PlayStation 2 62 playable characters Four characters are identified as requiring unlocks.
Xbox 62 playable characters Same four-character unlock structure described by the official guide.
Wii 63 playable characters Khameleon is added; she is not unlocked through the four-character Konquest list.

If a Wii player counts one more fighter than a PS2 or Xbox player, that is expected. It does not indicate that a fifth Konquest character is missing. Conversely, a PS2 or Xbox player should not search Konquest for Khameleon based on a Wii roster list.

Use instructions and code notation for the exact version you own. A PS2 code list is not automatically interchangeable with an Xbox list, and Wii references may distinguish a Wii Remote from a Classic Controller. If you are buying a used copy specifically to complete the roster, make sure the listing identifies the platform; no single universal disc or controller procedure covers all three releases.

Unlock the characters through Konquest Mode

Konquest is the licensed guide’s stated route. It combines relic collection with overall mode completion, so use a different objective for each fighter rather than assuming that finishing the story automatically gives the whole roster. The most reliable plan is to play one Konquest save, keep a running total and check the roster after the game has recorded progress.

What to prepare before collecting

  • Choose the platform-specific copy you intend to finish; roster totals and Krypt input notation vary by version.
  • Use one Konquest save for the entire hunt. The published requirements are expressed as a total collected in Konquest, not as a transfer between profiles.
  • Keep a written or digital relic tally. The cited references do not provide a universal stage-by-stage checklist, so your own notes are the safest way to find a missing pickup.
  • Decide whether you are following the Prima figure or a community figure for Daegon before you start troubleshooting.
  • Allow the game to save after major progress and after the pickup that reaches a threshold before checking the roster.

There is no separate purchase, subscription or online service identified as necessary for these unlocks. You need a compatible game copy and the relevant console, plus access to Konquest or the Krypt. Prices and stock for used copies vary by platform and seller; no fixed price should be assumed from an old guide.

1. Begin Konquest and keep a relic tally

Start Konquest from the game’s main mode selection and record every relic you collect. The unlock requirements are cumulative totals, not four separate missions. A simple paper or phone checklist is useful because the published requirements are based on your relic total, while the references do not provide a universal stage-by-stage checklist in the material available here.

  • Write down the relic total whenever you finish a session.
  • Mark the area or objective where you found each relic so you do not repeatedly search the same location.
  • Keep the count tied to the same save and game edition; do not assume a total from another platform or profile carries over.
  • If you are hunting several characters at once, continue collecting after the first unlock rather than stopping at the smallest threshold.
  • When a count seems wrong, recount from your notes instead of adding an estimate. The Daegon disagreement makes assumptions especially risky.

2. Trigger Meat’s unlock

Reach the Meat threshold shown in the table while playing Konquest. Once the game registers the required total, Meat is the first relic-based character to become available. Return to character selection and confirm that Meat can be chosen before beginning another search.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

If Meat does not appear, check that the relics were collected in Konquest rather than another mode, that the current save completed the collection actions, and that the game was allowed to save after the final pickup. The published sources establish the relic requirement, but they do not document a universal on-screen notification or a specific menu animation. Do not wait for a particular message that your edition may not display; the practical check is the roster.

3. Continue collecting for Daegon

Daegon is the one requirement that cannot be stated as an uncontested number. The Prima guide gives the higher figure in the table, while both GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list a lower figure. Because no consulted source establishes whether this reflects an edition difference, a guide error or another cause, use the value associated with the source you trust and keep collecting if the character does not unlock at that point.

For the least ambiguous practical approach, continue your Konquest relic hunt until you have met the official guide’s threshold. That avoids stopping early if your copy follows the Prima figure, while also covering a version that recognizes the lower community-listed threshold. If Daegon appears at 30, that is consistent with the two community lists; if he does not appear until 40, that is consistent with Prima. Neither outcome by itself proves that your save is damaged.

4. Reach Blaze’s relic requirement

Blaze uses the largest relic total in the published table. Continue the same Konquest save, verify your running count and allow the game to save after the relic that reaches the requirement. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse agree with the Prima figure for Blaze.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Because Blaze requires 50 relics, it is easy to stop after an earlier unlock and forget to resume the hunt. Keep the target visible in your checklist. Once you believe you have reached 50, leave Konquest normally, let the save complete and check the roster. If Blaze remains locked, recount the current save rather than combining totals from separate files.

5. Finish Konquest for Taven

Taven is not tied to a relic number in the published unlock table. Complete Konquest Mode itself. The official guide and both cross-checking references describe completion as Taven’s requirement, so collecting relics alone is not a substitute for finishing the mode.

When the final Konquest objective is complete, return to the character roster and look for Taven. If you collected enough relics for the other fighters but have not finished Konquest, Taven can still be unavailable; his condition is mode completion. Conversely, finishing Konquest does not remove the need to reach the relic totals for Meat, Daegon and Blaze if those totals have not already been met.

What to do about the Daegon discrepancy

The specific question “how many relics to unlock Daegon?” has two published answers. Prima’s official guide gives one total, while GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse give another. None of those sources explains the conflict, and the available evidence does not establish whether it comes from a regional or platform edition, a typographical error or a difference in how relics were counted.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Treat the numbers as source-attributed instructions rather than a single proven universal value. If you are following Prima, use its figure. If a community checklist tells you Daegon should already be available, continue collecting through the official-guide total before concluding that your save is broken. This is safer than deleting progress or repeatedly entering codes when the underlying disagreement has not been resolved.

For a clean record, write the chosen target at the top of your checklist: “Daegon—30 according to the community list” or “Daegon—40 according to Prima.” That prevents accidentally switching standards halfway through a long Konquest run. When comparing advice online, check whether the writer names the platform and the source behind the number.

The reported Krypt-code alternative

Contributor-maintained guides document another route: enter a character code at the question-mark box on Wall 4 in the Krypt. GameFAQs lists platform- and controller-specific entries, including separate Wii control methods, and Mortal Kombat Warehouse also documents Wall 4 codes. These pages are reference lists rather than confirmation from the Prima guide that codes replace Konquest requirements.

  1. Open the Krypt from the game’s main menu.
  2. Navigate to Wall 4.
  3. Select the question-mark box used for code entry.
  4. Use the code listing for your exact platform and controller, not a sequence copied from a different version.
  5. Return to the roster and check whether the named character is available.

The actual input sequence must be copied from the relevant listing because the sources present different entries by platform and controller. Use the GameFAQs code page or the Mortal Kombat Warehouse Krypt guide, preserve the labels shown there, and verify the sequence against your own edition before entering it. A Wii Remote, a Wii Classic Controller and a PS2 or Xbox pad do not share the same input notation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This article does not reproduce a universal button string because the documented entries are platform- and controller-specific. Copying a PS2 sequence into a Wii listing, or using a Wii Remote sequence while holding a Classic Controller, can make a valid code appear to fail. The links above identify the pages where the labels and sequences are presented.

If a code is rejected, do not infer that the character has been removed. First confirm that you are at Wall 4, that the selected entry is for your platform, and that the controller notation matches the device in your hands. Re-enter every directional and button input exactly as listed. The licensed guide’s Konquest method remains the documented fallback.

Choosing between Konquest and codes

Route Best for Advantages Limitations
Konquest progression Players who want the campaign progression and a method described by the licensed guide. Uses the game’s intended mode; unlock conditions are clear for Meat, Blaze and Taven. Requires relic searching and, for Taven, completing the mode.
Krypt code entry Players who already have a platform-specific code reference and want a faster alternative. Can avoid replaying the full relic hunt when the sequence is accepted. Codes are reported by contributor guides, controller inputs differ, and the official guide does not confirm them as replacements for Konquest.

Use Konquest when you need the most defensible, edition-aware procedure or want to complete the mode normally. Use a Krypt entry only when you can identify the exact platform and controller listing. On Wii, remember that the roster also contains Khameleon, whose presence is unrelated to either route for the four characters above.

The two routes are not mutually exclusive in your planning. You can collect relics and complete Konquest while keeping the code references available for troubleshooting. What you should avoid is treating an unverified code as proof that a relic threshold is wrong, or treating a roster count from one platform as evidence that another platform is missing a fighter.

Verification and troubleshooting

The roster still shows a locked character

  • Confirm which character you are checking: relic thresholds apply to Meat, Daegon and Blaze; Taven requires Konquest completion.
  • Recount relics from the current Konquest save. A handwritten total prevents missed or duplicated entries.
  • Finish the current objective and save before checking the roster again.
  • For Daegon, account for the published disagreement by continuing to the higher official-guide threshold.
  • Make sure you are not expecting Khameleon on PS2 or Xbox; that character is the Wii addition.
  • Check that you are viewing the normal playable roster rather than a menu or list from a different mode.

The roster total looks different from an online list

Compare like with like. A 62-character figure applies to PS2 and Xbox in the cited material, while Wii has 63 because of Khameleon. Counting the Wii-only fighter against a PS2 or Xbox list creates an apparent missing-character problem that is actually a platform difference.

Also check whether the list counts locked fighters in its total. Prima’s statement of 62 playable characters includes the four characters that require unlocking; “playable” describes the eventual roster, not necessarily the number visible on a fresh save.

A Krypt sequence does nothing

  • Check that you selected the Wall 4 question-mark box, not another Krypt location.
  • Use the code entry labeled for your platform and controller.
  • Re-enter the sequence exactly as listed, including directional inputs and button order.
  • Confirm that the controller labels match your actual Wii control method if you are on Wii.
  • If it still fails, return to Konquest rather than assuming the code list is authoritative; the code pages are community-maintained and the official guide’s unlock description is progression-based.

You reached the threshold but cannot remember which save did it

Return to the Konquest file where the relics were collected, complete a safe stopping point and save before checking the roster. Do not assume a total written from one profile applies to another. If you keep multiple files, label the one used for relic hunting and record whether it has completed Konquest for Taven.

What the source conflict means for your save

The Prima PDF is the strongest source for the core unlock table because it identifies itself as the official game guide and explicitly says only four characters require unlocking. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse are useful cross-checks for relic counts and Krypt entries, but their tables are contributor-maintained. The only unresolved conflict in the core requirements is Daegon’s relic total.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That distinction matters when troubleshooting. A mismatch between a guide and your copy does not automatically mean your save is corrupt. Check the edition, follow one complete method consistently, and use the higher Daegon target if you want to cover both published interpretations.

No named person is quoted for the unlock conditions. The numerical statement about 62 playable characters is attributed to Prima Games’ 2006 official guide, while the alternative Daegon total and code information come from the identified community reference pages. Keeping those attributions separate makes it clear which instructions are official-guide figures and which are reported alternatives.

Final completion checklist

  • Identify whether you are playing PS2, Xbox or Wii.
  • Remember that Wii’s 63-character roster includes Khameleon separately from the four Konquest unlocks.
  • Start one Konquest save and keep a relic tally.
  • Use the table’s official-guide thresholds for Meat and Blaze.
  • For Daegon, recognize the conflict between the official guide and the two community lists; continue to the higher figure if necessary.
  • Complete Konquest Mode to unlock Taven.
  • If using the Krypt route, enter codes only from the platform- and controller-specific Wall 4 listing.
  • Check the character roster after saving progress.
  • If a count or code appears not to work, verify the platform, controller, location and save before restarting your progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many characters must be unlocked in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon?

The Prima Official Game Guide identifies four: Meat, Daegon, Blaze and Taven. PS2 and Xbox ultimately have 62 playable characters; Wii has 63 because it adds Khameleon separately.

How many relics unlock Meat?

Collect 10 relics in Konquest Mode. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse report the same total.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How many relics unlock Daegon?

The Prima guide says 40 relics, while GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30. Because the cause of the conflict is unresolved, continue to 40 if you want to cover both published interpretations.

How many relics unlock Blaze?

Collect 50 relics in Konquest Mode. The Prima guide, GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse agree on that number.

How do you unlock Taven?

Complete Konquest Mode. Taven’s requirement is mode completion rather than a specific relic total.

Is Khameleon one of the Konquest unlocks?

No. Khameleon is the Wii edition’s additional fighter. She explains the Wii roster total of 63 and is not part of the four-character Konquest list.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can Krypt codes unlock the characters?

GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse report Wall 4 question-mark-box codes, but these are contributor-maintained references. Use the entry for your exact platform and controller; the Prima guide presents Konquest as the documented unlock route.

What should I do if a character remains locked after meeting the requirement?

Confirm the platform, recount relics in the current Konquest save, finish the objective, allow the game to save and check the roster again. For Daegon, continue to the Prima figure of 40 if the lower community-listed target did not work.

The Bottom Line

For the most reliable route, play Konquest on your exact platform, collect 10 relics for Meat, 50 for Blaze, continue to 40 for Daegon to cover the conflicting guides, and complete Konquest for Taven. Wii’s extra Khameleon is separate. Krypt codes are a reported alternative, but use only the Wall 4 entry labeled for your platform and controller.
