To enter Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Haunted Floating Festival, investigate the portal in the Plaza or open the Event tab and select Teleport. The temporary Floating Island contains returning challenges and a multi-stage Haunted Mansion sequence. The Mansion’s bedroom opens only after you collect two Haunted Key fragments, combine them into one key, and use it on the bedroom door. Because several activities unlock on different dates—and at least one task can require items gathered in the Valley—plan to revisit the island instead of trying to complete everything in one session.
When the 2026 Haunted Floating Festival is available
The official event announcement from the Disney Dreamlight Valley team sets the festival’s 2026 window from October 7 through October 31, 2026. The island and its first activities become available on October 7. The final scheduled Haunted Mansion mystery, the Ghost Hunt, is set to unlock on October 18.

| Milestone | Date | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Festival opens | October 7, 2026 | The Floating Island can be entered, returning challenges are available, and the first Haunted Mansion puzzles can be started. |
| Final Mansion mystery opens | October 18, 2026 | The Ghost Hunt becomes available; it requires photographing ten ghosts around the festival grounds. |
| Festival closes | October 31, 2026 | The event window ends. Finish time-sensitive tasks before this date rather than assuming the island remains permanently accessible. |
Gameloft’s announcement advises returning during the event because additional puzzles are scheduled to appear over time. If a named activity is missing from your island, first check whether its release date has arrived before treating it as a bug.
How to reach the Haunted Floating Festival
Route 1: Use the Plaza portal
- Travel to the Plaza in your Valley.
- Look for the event portal associated with the Haunted Floating Festival.
- Interact with the portal and confirm the travel prompt.
- After loading, walk around the Floating Island so nearby activity prompts and Mansion entrances can register.
Route 2: Teleport from the Event tab
- Open the game’s Event tab.
- Select the Haunted Floating Festival entry.
- Choose Teleport.
- Confirm the destination and wait for the island to load.
These are the two entry methods identified in the official event announcement. No festival-specific purchase, accessory, or separate tool is listed as a prerequisite for travel. However, some objectives send you back to your normal Valley for materials or other items, so keep enough inventory space for quest objects and supplies.

What unlocks on the island
The festival combines five returning challenges with a connected Haunted Mansion storyline. The official announcement names the returning activities as a ghostly critter task, a combination puzzle, the Terror-rific Tree, a cauldron challenge, and a haunted armor quiz. Their presence does not mean every activity has identical requirements: some are standalone challenges, while Mansion objectives unlock the next room or advance a larger sequence.
| Activity or stage | Where to work | Required action or item documented | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returning ghostly critter | Festival grounds | Feed the ghostly Zero fox a Haunted Skeleton Fish, according to a current walkthrough. | One memory shard per day; four shards require at least four separate days. |
| Returning combination puzzle | Festival grounds | Follow the environmental clues and symbols presented at the puzzle. | Returning challenge reward; the official announcement does not publish a complete solution. |
| Terror-rific Tree | Festival grounds | Complete the activity’s tree-related objective. | Returning challenge reward; exact steps are not specified in the announcement. |
| Cauldron challenge | Festival grounds | Use the clues and requested ingredients or objects shown by the challenge. | Returning challenge reward; requirements can involve items from the Valley. |
| Haunted armor quiz | Festival grounds | Answer the quiz prompts using the information provided in the event. | Returning challenge reward. |
| Haunted Key and bedroom | Haunted Mansion | Collect two key fragments, combine them, and unlock the bedroom door. | Access to the bedroom and later Mansion objectives. |
| Haunted Library | Haunted Mansion | Follow the trail of spooky books and return each to its correct shelf. | A Chomping Chest. |
| Release the Curse | Haunted Mansion | Use interior clues to solve the combination sequence, recover the Missing Page, and restore the magical book. | Progress toward the curse objective and a Decorative Magic Seal. |
| Secret basement | Outside and beneath the Haunted Mansion | After opening the bedroom, retrieve the key held by a lion statue with the Royal Pickaxe, then use it at the exterior basement entrance. | A furniture surprise confirmed by the official post. |
| Ghost Hunt | Festival grounds | Photograph ten ghosts after the October 18 unlock. | A new furniture item; the exact item and individual ghost locations were not documented before the challenge opened. |
Open the Haunted Mansion bedroom
The bedroom is not available immediately. You must search the Mansion for two separate Haunted Key fragments and combine them into a complete key. The official guide describes the hunt as an exploration chain rather than a single pickup.
Search the Mansion for the clues
- Enter the Haunted Mansion on the Floating Island and inspect rooms, corridors, interactable objects, and containers.
- Break the correct lion statues when the Mansion’s clues indicate that they are part of the search. Do not assume every lion statue is relevant.
- Open chests that become available during the exploration sequence.
- Light the Jack-o’-Lanterns connected to the objective.
- Follow the ghostly fox when the trail appears. It leads you through the remaining parts of the search.
- Collect both Haunted Key fragments. They are separate quest items, so finding one does not complete the bedroom requirement.
- Open your inventory and combine the two fragments into the Haunted Key when the combine prompt becomes available.
- Return to the locked bedroom door and use the completed key.
If the bedroom still refuses to open, check that the inventory contains the combined Haunted Key rather than two uncombined fragments. Also make sure you have completed the Mansion interactions that reveal the second fragment; simply entering the room and opening random chests is not enough to finish the chain.

Once the Mansion sequence sends you toward the library, look for the trail of spooky books. The objective is to return each book to the shelf where it belongs. This is a placement puzzle: the important step is matching the books to their correct shelves, not merely collecting them.
- Walk the library and identify every spooky book that can be interacted with.
- Pick up the books and note any visual or positional clues that distinguish one shelf from another.
- Place each book on its correct shelf.
- Check the room again after the final placement. A completed arrangement should advance the objective and award the Chomping Chest named by the official announcement.
If the puzzle does not advance, look for a book left on the floor, in another part of the Mansion, or on a shelf that accepts an interaction but is not the correct destination. The announcement does not provide a universal shelf diagram, so use the in-room trail and labels rather than applying a solution from a differently arranged room.
Complete Release the Curse and the Mansion pillar puzzle
Release the Curse is a connected Mansion objective. You use clues inside the building to solve a combination sequence, recover the Missing Page, and restore the magical book. The reward named for the larger sequence is the Decorative Magic Seal.
Rank #2
The Haunted House Pillar order
A separate pillar mini-puzzle appears during this progression. Destructoid documents the symbol order as:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Spiderweb
- Cat
- Bat
- Witch hat
Completing this order produces a Lost Magic Page and advances the larger quest; it is not an immediate standalone event prize.
Do not confuse the two pillar puzzles
The festival also contains a similarly styled Combination Pillar puzzle on the island. The Haunted House Pillar inside the Mansion uses the spiderweb, cat, bat, witch-hat order above. The two puzzles look related, but they are distinct objectives with different solutions. If a symbol sequence seems not to work, verify which pillar you are standing beside before changing the order.
Finish the book objective
- Read or inspect the clues placed inside the Mansion.
- Use those clues to determine the combination sequence rather than guessing symbols at random.
- Recover the Missing Page when the combination step opens the relevant container or mechanism.
- Use the Lost Magic Page from the pillar task where the quest directs you.
- Restore the magical book and follow the next objective marker until the Release the Curse sequence completes.
Reach the secret basement
The official event post confirms that a hidden key leads to a basement beneath the Haunted Mansion and promises another furniture surprise. A current walkthrough gives the practical route after the bedroom has been opened.
- Finish the Haunted Key chain and enter the bedroom.
- Search for the lion statue that is holding a key.
- Equip the Royal Pickaxe and break the statue to retrieve the key.
- Leave the Mansion and locate the outside basement entrance.
- Use the recovered key on that entrance.
- Explore the basement and collect the furniture reward or discovery that appears there.
The bedroom step matters: searching for the basement key before that room is available can leave the sequence appearing incomplete. If the lion statue has no interaction, return after the bedroom objective has registered and confirm that the Royal Pickaxe is available on your tool wheel.
Prepare for the Ghost Hunt
The Ghost Hunt is scheduled for October 18, later than the festival’s opening day. Its requirement is specific: find and photograph ten ghosts around the festival grounds. The official announcement says the reward is a new furniture item, but the exact item and the ghosts’ individual locations were not documented before the challenge became available.

When the task unlocks, use the game’s camera mode to photograph each ghost and verify that the quest counter increases after every shot. Take the pictures on the Floating Island rather than assuming Mansion ghosts count. If a photograph does not register, reposition until the ghost is clearly in frame and check the objective counter before moving on.
Because the locations were not established in the available pre-release information, avoid relying on lists published before October 18 that present unverified positions or a specific reward name as fact. The reliable requirements are the unlock date, the ten-ghost count, the festival-grounds setting, and the furniture-reward category.
Start the Zero memory sequence early
A current secondary walkthrough reports that the ghostly critter challenge involves feeding the ghostly Zero fox a Haunted Skeleton Fish. The fox then awards one memory shard per day. Four shards therefore take at least four separate days, making this the most important reason to begin a returning challenge early if you want every available step completed before October 31.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Locate the ghostly Zero fox on the festival grounds.
- Bring a Haunted Skeleton Fish and feed it to the fox.
- Collect the memory shard awarded for that day.
- Return on later days to repeat the interaction and collect the remaining shards.
- Track the number of shards in your inventory or quest log so you do not mistake one daily reward for completion.
This four-day timing comes from the secondary walkthrough, not the official event announcement. Treat it as a practical planning detail and verify the on-screen objective in your own game, especially if a patch changes the daily reset or reward behavior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use Valley items without losing your place
The official announcement warns that some festival challenges require items collected in the Valley. The Floating Island is therefore the event hub, not necessarily the location for every step. Before travelling back, read the active objective and identify whether it asks for a fish, ingredient, quest object, or another Valley-sourced item.
- Keep free inventory slots before starting a Mansion chain or returning challenge.
- Do not discard unusual fish, pages, fragments, keys, or event objects while clearing your inventory.
- When an objective points away from the island, return to the Valley, gather the requested item, and use the Plaza portal or Event-tab teleport to resume the event.
- Follow the quest text instead of assuming that every clue, chest, or material is on the Floating Island.
A practical completion order
The following order minimizes waiting and backtracking while respecting the scheduled unlocks.
Rank #4
- Disney Dreamlight Valley - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
- Enter through the Plaza portal or Event-tab Teleport on or after October 7.
- Walk the festival grounds and start the returning challenges that are available.
- Begin the Zero fox sequence immediately if you have the Haunted Skeleton Fish; its reported daily shard limit makes early progress valuable.
- Enter the Haunted Mansion and work through the lion statues, chests, Jack-o’-Lanterns, and ghostly fox trail until both key fragments are collected.
- Combine the fragments and open the bedroom.
- Complete the Haunted Library book placement.
- Work through Release the Curse, including the Haunted House Pillar order of spiderweb, cat, bat, witch hat, the Lost Magic Page, the Missing Page, and the restored magical book.
- Return to the bedroom, use the Royal Pickaxe on the lion statue holding a key, and open the exterior basement entrance.
- Return on or after October 18 for the Ghost Hunt and photograph ten ghosts.
- Use the remaining days before October 31 to collect daily Zero shards, finish any returning challenge that required Valley items, and claim rewards.
Troubleshooting missing prompts and blocked progression
The island does not appear
Check that the date is within October 7–31, 2026, then use the Event tab’s Teleport option instead of relying only on the Plaza portal. If the event entry is visible but the destination does not load, leave and re-enter the Event tab, restart the game, and try the portal route. These steps refresh the two documented access paths without changing your save data.

A puzzle is not available
Compare the activity with the schedule. The Ghost Hunt is not scheduled until October 18; opening-day access does not imply that every Mansion mystery is active. For other objectives, inspect the current quest text and revisit the island after completing the preceding Mansion stage.
The bedroom door remains locked
Confirm that you have two fragments and have combined them into the Haunted Key. If only one fragment is present, continue the lion-statue, chest, Jack-o’-Lantern, and ghostly fox trail. The complete key, not the fragments separately, is what opens the door.
The pillar code fails
Verify that you are solving the Haunted House Pillar, not the similarly styled festival Combination Pillar. For the Mansion task, enter spiderweb, cat, bat, witch hat in that order. A successful sequence gives a Lost Magic Page and advances the quest.
The Zero fox gives no additional shard
The secondary walkthrough reports one shard per day. If you already received that day’s shard, return after the next daily reset rather than repeatedly feeding the fox in the same session. Keep a count of the four pieces and start early enough to allow four separate days.
The Ghost Hunt does not count a photograph
After October 18, make sure the ghost is clearly visible in the camera frame and check the quest counter immediately after taking the picture. Move closer or change the angle if the count does not increase. The requirement is ten registered ghost photographs, not merely opening the camera near the festival grounds.
What is confirmed—and what is not
The event dates, two entry routes, ten-ghost requirement, Haunted Key fragment count, Mansion sequence, and named rewards are established by the official announcement and associated guides cited for this event. The Zero fox’s four-day shard timing is a secondary-walkthrough detail. As of the information available before October 18, the Ghost Hunt’s exact ghost locations and furniture item name were still unresolved. Treat later in-game prompts as the authority for those details rather than assuming an early guide has the final map.
