Open Timeline of Fate and choose the Mortal Flames, Eternal Change chapter. Episode 11 is Flames that Devour the Ages, and the September 23, 2026 update notice explicitly says you can enter it without clearing earlier episodes. Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal, arrived in the October 7, 2026 update, but that notice does not document its exact progression requirement.
If the game asks for an episode download, let it finish before trying to enter. The September notice says the content becomes available after the download completes. Use Wi-Fi if you want to avoid mobile-data charges, and make sure the device has enough free storage.

Where Mortal Flames appears
Mortal Flames, Eternal Change is a chapter inside CookieRun: Kingdom’s Timeline of Fate content. The chapter currently contains two named episodes covered by the 2026 update notices:
| Episode | Title | Update date | Unlock information stated in the notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11 | Flames that Devour the Ages | September 23, 2026 | The notice explicitly says previous episodes do not need to be cleared. |
| 12 | A Sun That Shines Eternal | October 7, 2026 | The episode was added, but the notice does not state whether Episode 11 or another account condition is required. |
The dates above are the dates of the update notices. They establish when the episodes were announced and added, not that every account will display identical prompts at the same time. Your client may still need to download the new assets before the chapter is playable.

How to enter Episode 11
Episode 11 has the clearest rule. The September 23 notice states: “You can play Mortal Flames, Eternal Change Ep.11, Flames that Devour the Ages, without clearing previous episodes.” That is an explicit exception to the progression assumption many players make about Timeline of Fate.
- Launch CookieRun: Kingdom and open the Timeline of Fate area.
- Select the chapter named Mortal Flames, Eternal Change.
- Choose Episode 11, Flames that Devour the Ages.
- If an episode-data prompt appears, begin the download and wait until it reaches completion.
- Return to the episode entry and start the stage. You do not need to clear earlier Timeline of Fate episodes for this Episode 11 entry, according to the September notice.
If Episode 11 still appears unavailable, first distinguish a progression lock from an incomplete download. A download message, loading state or missing voice data indicates that the client is still preparing the content; it is not evidence that you failed an earlier episode requirement.
How to find Episode 12
The October 7 update added Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal, to the same chapter. Open Timeline of Fate, enter Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, and look for the Episode 12 entry.
- Open the chapter list in Timeline of Fate.
- Select Mortal Flames, Eternal Change.
- Look for A Sun That Shines Eternal as Episode 12.
- Follow any on-screen requirement or download prompt shown by your current client.
The October notice confirms the episode’s addition but does not say that clearing Episode 11 is mandatory, nor does it identify another account-level gate. Therefore, there is no documented universal prerequisite to quote for Episode 12. If the entry is locked on your account, use the requirement shown in the game rather than assuming that Episode 11, a particular Kingdom level or an unrelated quest is required.

What to do when the game asks for a download
The September update notice warns that entering Timeline of Fate or proceeding to an episode can trigger a partial download of episode assets and voice data. The episode becomes available after that download finishes.
Use a stable connection
Start the download on a reliable connection and leave the game open until the progress indicator completes. Wi-Fi is the practical choice if you want to avoid mobile-data charges; the notice specifically warns that data charges may apply when you are not on Wi-Fi.
Keep enough storage free
Check the device’s available storage before retrying a failed or stalled download. The notice calls out low storage as a possible issue. Freeing space may be necessary even when the game itself launches normally, because the episode package and voice data need room to be written.

How to tell that you reached the new content
The episode effects provide useful in-game confirmation that the new stages loaded. They are not additional unlock requirements; they are mechanics associated with the episodes.
Episode 11: Flames that Devour the Ages
In Episode 11, the Flame of Annihilation land rule and the Seed of Change tactical skill begin at the stage named “Faint Scent of Jasmine.” Seeing those elements at that point is a practical sign that the Episode 11 ruleset is active.
Episode 12: A Sun That Shines Eternal
In Episode 12, Flame of Annihilation and Seed of Change begin at “Silent Outcry.” Flame of Mortality begins at “The Pulse of Change.”
Recommended Free Tools
The October notice describes Seed of Change as a recovery-oriented skill: it cleanses the Flame of Annihilation and Flame of Mortality debuffs from allies and restores HP. Those effects help identify the Episode 12 content after entry, but they do not establish a separate account requirement.

Why Episode 11 and Episode 12 have different answers
It is important not to apply Episode 11’s exception automatically to Episode 12. The September 23 notice gives a direct, episode-specific statement that Episode 11 can be played without clearing previous episodes. The October 7 notice announces Episode 12 and describes its effects, but it does not provide a corresponding unlock sentence.
This means the safest interpretation is:
- Episode 11: prior Timeline of Fate episodes are explicitly not required.
- Episode 12: the episode exists in the chapter, but the published notice does not specify its exact gate.
- Both episodes: a client download can be required before the content is available.
If you are writing down a checklist for several accounts, record the exact message each account receives. A locked Episode 12 tile may reflect a progression rule, an unfinished download or a client state that differs from another player’s account; the available notice does not let you identify which one in advance.

The chapter is visible, but the episode will not open
Open the chapter again and look for a download or preparation prompt. If one appears, complete it before testing the entry. During the download, the game may prevent access to other areas; that temporary behavior is described in the September notice.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe download stops or refuses to start
- Switch to Wi-Fi if you were using cellular data and want to avoid data restrictions or charges.
- Check free device storage and remove unused files if space is low.
- Reopen Timeline of Fate after the download reports completion, then select the episode again.
These checks address the access conditions documented by the update notice without assuming an undocumented server-side requirement.

Episode 11 looks locked behind earlier episodes
Verify that the tile is actually Episode 11, Flames that Devour the Ages, inside Mortal Flames, Eternal Change. The official September statement specifically removes the previous-episode requirement for that episode. If the screen is asking for a download, finish that process first; a download gate and an episode-clear gate are different conditions.
Episode 12 is present but unavailable
Do not infer a specific prerequisite from the Episode 11 rule. The October notice does not state whether Episode 11 must be cleared or whether another player or account condition applies. Check the current in-game Timeline of Fate entry and follow the requirement displayed there. If no requirement is shown, confirm that the October content download completed and that the client has sufficient storage before trying again.
The stage names or effects do not match
Check that you selected the intended episode rather than another Timeline of Fate chapter. Episode 11 starts the named effects at “Faint Scent of Jasmine.” Episode 12 uses “Silent Outcry” for Flame of Annihilation and Seed of Change, and “The Pulse of Change” for Flame of Mortality. These names are useful orientation points once the correct episode is open.
Timeline of the Mortal Flames updates
September 23, 2026: Episode 11
The September update introduced Mortal Flames, Eternal Change Episode 11, Flames that Devour the Ages. Its notable access rule is the explicit permission to play without clearing previous episodes. The same notice explains the possible partial download, voice-data preparation, mobile-data warning, temporary area restriction and storage check.
October 7, 2026: Episode 12
The October update added Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal, to the chapter and documented its episode effects. It did not publish a specific progression prerequisite. That omission matters: the existence of Episode 12 is confirmed, but its exact gate must be determined from the entry shown in your current game client.
A concise access checklist
- Open Timeline of Fate.
- Select Mortal Flames, Eternal Change.
- For Episode 11, choose Flames that Devour the Ages; earlier episodes do not have to be cleared.
- For Episode 12, choose A Sun That Shines Eternal if the entry is available, and obey any requirement the game displays.
- Complete any partial episode and voice-data download.
- Use Wi-Fi when avoiding mobile-data charges matters.
- Check free storage if the download cannot complete.
- Use the named stage effects to confirm that you entered the intended episode.
The key distinction is between what is documented and what is not: Episode 11’s no-clear requirement is explicit, while Episode 12’s exact progression gate is not specified in the October notice.
