On Windows 11 builds where the option has rolled out, open Settings > Personalization > Context menu, then switch on or off Move Properties to the bottom of the context menu under Additional options. The setting changes the placement of Properties in the modern context menu; it does not change the classic menu opened with Shift+right-click.

Change the setting in Windows Settings

  1. Press Win+I to open Settings.
  2. Select Personalization > Context menu.
  3. Under Additional options, switch Move Properties to the bottom of the context menu on to move the entry, or off to restore its default placement.

Close Settings when finished. The change applies to the modern context menu. It does not affect the classic menu displayed by holding Shift while right-clicking. Windows 11 Forum’s instructions describe the setting and its scope.

If the option is missing

The setting is associated in third-party how-to guides with Windows 11 Insider Experimental 26H2 build 26340.9212 and later, but availability may vary during the gradual rollout. The cited guides do not establish that the control is available on every Windows 11 installation. WindowsLoop and Windows 11 Forum provide the build-specific guidance; Microsoft documentation for this exact toggle was not identified.

Optional registry alternative

If you are comfortable editing the registry, third-party tutorials describe a per-user alternative. Prefer the Settings switch whenever it is available. An incorrect registry edit can cause problems, so proceed carefully and change only the specified value.

  1. Open Registry Editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerContextMenuPreferencesMoveProperties.
  2. Set the Enabled DWORD value to 1 to enable the placement preference, or 0 to disable it.

The registry path and values are tutorial guidance from WindowsLoop and Windows 11 Forum, not Microsoft documentation. Windows 11 Forum also describes using REG files with the same values.
