What Windows 11 calls “touch cursor feedback bubbles”
If you are looking for a circle that appears where you tap a Windows 11 touchscreen, the setting is named Touch indicator. Microsoft describes it as visual feedback when you touch the screen, including feedback around touch points. The wording “touch cursor feedback bubbles” is an informal description rather than the label used in Settings. The official instructions are in Microsoft’s Make Windows easier to see guidance.

The indicator is useful when the physical contact point is hard to see, when you are demonstrating a touchscreen action to another person, or when you want a visible confirmation that a tap landed where intended. It is an on-screen visual aid for touch input. It is not a pointer theme, a cursor-size control, or a separate application that must be installed.

Turn on the Touch indicator
1. Open Mouse pointer & touch
- Select Start, then open Settings.
- Choose Accessibility.
- Under the accessibility options, select Mouse pointer & touch.
Microsoft documents this exact Windows 11 path in its accessibility instructions. The page also explains that pointer-related controls and touch feedback are presented in the same general area, so read the labels carefully before changing a setting.
2. Enable Touch indicator
- In Mouse pointer & touch, find Touch indicator.
- Turn the Touch indicator switch on.
Once enabled, Windows can show visual feedback around the location of a touch on the screen. The control affects touchscreen input; moving a mouse or using a trackpad is not the same action and should not be used to test this option.
3. Make the bubble darker and larger
- Expand the Touch indicator settings if the additional options are collapsed.
- Select Make the circle darker and larger.
This is the documented visibility adjustment. Microsoft’s wording is: “To see the touch indicator circle more visibly, expand the Touch indicator settings, and then select the Make the circle darker and larger checkbox.” The darker-and-larger choice is especially appropriate when the default circle blends into an application’s background or is difficult to spot during a demonstration.

4. Test the result with a real touch
Tap the touchscreen after enabling the option. Look for the feedback circle at the touch point rather than next to the mouse pointer. If you are testing on a non-touch display, there may be no physical touch input with which to trigger the indicator; Microsoft’s cited documentation does not define a separate simulation mode.

Use the keyboard shortcut to reach Accessibility
Windows provides a faster route to the same group of settings. Press Windows logo key + U to open Accessibility, then choose Mouse pointer & touch and follow the Touch indicator steps above. Microsoft lists this shortcut in its guidance on making the mouse, keyboard, and other input devices easier to use: Make your mouse, keyboard, and other input devices easier to use.
The shortcut opens the Accessibility section; it does not switch Touch indicator on by itself. You still need to select Mouse pointer & touch, enable the switch, and, if needed, select the darker-and-larger option.
Choose the setting that matches your visibility need
| Setting | What it changes | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Touch indicator | Displays visual feedback around a touchscreen touch point. | Use this when you want a visible confirmation of taps or other touch input. |
| Make the circle darker and larger | Increases the documented visibility of the Touch indicator circle by making it darker and larger. | Use this when the standard circle is difficult to see or when an audience needs to follow your touches. |
These are the two documented choices for the touch-feedback bubble itself. The sources do not describe a separate slider for an exact diameter or a color-picker control, so Windows 11’s documented interface does not provide a numeric size value or a custom touch-indicator color in this workflow.

Do not confuse three different cursor and indicator settings
Several Windows features use the word “cursor” or display a marker on screen. Their purposes are different. Keeping them separate prevents you from changing the wrong control.

| Feature | Input it represents | Where the relevant control is described |
|---|---|---|
| Touch indicator | A tap or other touch on a touchscreen; it shows feedback around the touch point. | Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch. |
| Mouse pointer | The pointer moved by a mouse or another pointing device; its style and size are separate accessibility choices. | Mouse and pointer controls in the same Accessibility area, described separately by Microsoft. |
| Text cursor indicator | The insertion point used when entering text. | A different accessibility feature, not the Touch indicator. |
Turning on Touch indicator will not enlarge the arrow used by a mouse, recolor the text insertion caret, or alter how a pointer moves. Conversely, changing mouse-pointer size will not create circles around touchscreen taps. Microsoft’s input-device guidance treats these controls as distinct.
What the circle means when you are using touch
The circle is a visual confirmation layer. It marks where Windows detected the touch, allowing you to match a physical tap with its on-screen location. The feature is therefore most useful when the hand, bezel, glare, distance from the display, or a presentation setup makes the contact point hard to observe directly.
It is not a pointer trail, a recording of every gesture, or a replacement for an on-screen pointer. The documented description is limited to visual feedback around touch points. If you move a mouse and see no circle, that behavior is consistent with the feature’s purpose: a mouse action is not a touchscreen touch.

If you cannot find the option
Check the exact Settings path
Search for the labels rather than a phrase such as “cursor bubbles.” Open Settings, select Accessibility, and then open Mouse pointer & touch. The control is named Touch indicator; it is not labeled “touch cursor,” “tap bubbles,” or “feedback bubbles.”
Confirm that you are looking for touchscreen feedback
The option is intended for touch input. A desktop monitor without touch capability cannot generate a physical screen touch, so testing with only a mouse or keyboard will not demonstrate the effect. Microsoft’s cited pages do not state a minimum hardware specification or a separate software simulator for this feature.
Account for edition, build, and management differences
The cited Microsoft articles document the Windows 11 setting path and the darker-and-larger choice, but they do not specify a minimum Windows 11 build, a hardware requirement list, or how organization policy might hide the option. If the control is absent, first recheck that you are in the Windows 11 Accessibility settings and that you are looking at the current labels. You can also check Windows Update or ask the person who manages a work or school device, but the cited guidance does not establish updates or policy as the cause of a missing control.
Use the documented labels exactly
Windows settings search can lead to related pointer or text-cursor options. If the page shows only mouse-pointer style or size choices, you are viewing a different control. Navigate back to Accessibility and open Mouse pointer & touch again, then look specifically for Touch indicator.

Verify the configuration after changing it
- Accessibility is open at Mouse pointer & touch.
- The Touch indicator switch is on.
- Make the circle darker and larger is selected when greater visibility is needed.
- You tested with an actual touchscreen touch rather than a mouse click.
- You did not change the mouse-pointer or text-cursor controls by mistake.
There is no additional product, driver utility, or browser extension in Microsoft’s documented procedure. The setting is built into Windows 11’s Accessibility controls.
Limits of the documented customization
Windows 11’s documented Touch indicator interface gives you an on/off control and one visibility enhancement: a darker, larger circle. The cited Microsoft documentation does not describe a custom color selector, an exact numeric size field, animation controls, a duration setting, or a separate design for different touch gestures. Avoid treating unrelated pointer or text-cursor options as substitutes for those controls.
Microsoft’s Windows Backup Settings Catalog also lists touch-point visual feedback and the darker/larger setting: Windows Backup Settings Catalog. That catalog entry supports the setting’s name and purpose; it does not add a color picker or numeric sizing option.
Turn the bubbles off again
To remove the feedback, return to Start > Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch and switch Touch indicator off. If you only want to stop the enhanced appearance, leave the main switch on and clear Make the circle darker and larger. The two controls let you choose between no touch marker, the standard marker, and the more visible documented variant.
