To turn on Accidental touch protection, open Settings > Display, scroll to Accidental touch protection, then switch it on. The feature is designed to keep the screen off in dark places such as a pocket or bag, helping prevent unintended calls, messages, or other screen interactions.
Turn on Accidental touch protection
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display.
- Scroll to Accidental touch protection.
- Tap the switch to turn it on.

What the setting does—and how to use the phone in the dark
Samsung Canada describes the feature as automatically keeping the screen off in dark places, such as a pocket or bag, to help prevent accidental unlocking, calls, or messages. It is intended to reduce unintended screen interactions; it does not prevent every possible accidental action.

If you can’t find the setting
Samsung says Accidental touch protection may not be available on every Galaxy device and is typically not supported on Galaxy tablets. Menu details also vary by device and software version, so a missing option does not point to one specific cause. If accidental touches continue
Check other settings that can wake the screen or affect touch response. The options below may have slightly different names or may not appear on every Galaxy phone.

Turn off screen-wake gestures
Go to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures. Turn off Lift to wake and Double tap to turn on screen or Double tap to wake, if those options are present. Samsung US Support
Check Touch sensitivity
If the screen still responds too readily, open Settings > Display and turn off Touch sensitivity, if it is enabled. Samsung US Support

Use a secure lock or a covered case
A secure screen lock can help ensure accidental touches do not unlock the phone. Samsung Canada also suggests a flip or wallet-style case as an optional way to block contact with the screen. Choose a case made for your exact Galaxy model; a case is an extra safeguard, not a replacement for the setting. Samsung Canada Support
