To remove the HDMI or input banner on a Sony TV, open Settings and turn off Info banner. The exact menu path and option label vary by model: look for Disable, Hidden, or Off. Not every Sony TV offers a setting that completely hides it.
What Sony calls the HDMI banner
The overlay that appears when you switch to an HDMI input is commonly Sony’s Info banner. Sony describes the setting as controlling information shown when changing inputs; depending on the TV, the banner can include information about an external input. Sony notes that the available Info Banner settings vary by TV model (Sony Support; Sony UK Support; Sony Help Guide).
Turn off Info banner in Settings
First identify your TV model and whether it uses Google TV, Android TV, or another interface. Menu names and available choices differ, so use the route that matches your TV rather than expecting one sequence to work on every model. Sony provides model-identification and support guidance on its support site.

Open Settings, then try the matching path:
- Channels & Inputs → Info banner → Disable
- Watching TV → Info banner → Hidden or Disable
- Channels → Info banner → Hidden or Off
- Channel setup → Info banner → Off or Disable
Some older-model menu routes
- Settings → Preferences → Setup → Info Banner → Hidden
- Settings → System Settings → Setup → Info Banner → Off or Hidden
These are alternatives for different models, not successive steps. If the menu or option is missing, check your TV’s model-specific support page and Help Guide. Sony says some models do not allow the banner to be completely disabled.

On some models, pressing DISPLAY or Image Info toggles the Info Banner. If the overlay appeared after using one of those buttons, press the same button again. Sony also says that on some models a displayed banner disappears after about 30 seconds; this behavior is model-dependent (Sony Support; Sony UK Support).
If the HDMI message remains
Check whether it appears only while the HDMI device is active and whether it shows controls or details specific to that device. If Info banner is disabled but the overlay persists, the screen and TV model are needed to identify it; Sony’s banner setting is not a universal fix for every on-screen message. Consult the appropriate TV or connected-device manual for an overlay that does not match the TV’s Info Banner.
