The fix depends on where the promotion appears. For a Samsung notification, identify the sending app in Settings > Notifications > Recently sent and disable that app or only its promotional category. For account-level marketing, review Samsung Account > Privacy settings for Get news and special offers and Customization Service. Browser pop-ups, app overlays, lock-screen content and charging-screen ads use different controls.
These settings reduce specific promotional channels; they do not guarantee that every advertisement disappears from every Samsung app, website or online platform. Menu names and locations can differ by Galaxy model, One UI version, app version, language and account region.

First identify what kind of ad you are seeing
Do not start by switching off unrelated Galaxy features. The correct setting depends on the ad’s location and sender.

A sale alert in the notification shade is not the same thing as a pop-up delivered by a website. Treating both as “system ads” can leave the actual source enabled.

Turn off a promotional notification from the app that sent it
This is the fastest route for a Galaxy Store offer, Samsung service promotion or any other unwanted alert that appears as a normal notification.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Open Recently sent (the wording can vary by One UI version).
- Find the app that delivered the promotion. Use the notification’s app name, icon or timestamp rather than guessing.
- Turn off that app’s notifications, or open its notification categories and disable only the promotional category if categories are available.
Disabling the entire app keeps the promotion away but may also suppress useful alerts such as account security notices, downloads or service messages. A category-level switch is preferable when the app exposes separate channels. Read each category name carefully: a category that sounds promotional may also contain service announcements on some versions.
Use the notification itself when it appears
If the promotion is still visible, touch and hold the notification. Open its notification settings, then switch off the app or the specific category shown. This avoids searching through a long app list and confirms which app is responsible. If the alert has already been dismissed, wait for the next one and use the same long-press route, or return to Recently sent soon after it appears.

Galaxy models, One UI releases and regional builds do not expose identical menus. Use the Settings search field for Notifications, then open the result that lists recently sent notifications or app notification permissions. The notification’s own long-press menu is usually the most reliable path when a label has moved. Samsung can also spell some options differently, such as “Customisation” rather than “Customization.”
Review Samsung Account marketing choices
Notification permission controls what an app may show in the notification shade. Samsung Account privacy choices govern separate marketing and personalization uses, so review both when the sender is Samsung or a Samsung account service.
Get news and special offers
Samsung’s US account terms describe Get news and special offers as an optional choice that can allow relevant news, offers and other information from Samsung and its partners through email, notifications and online platforms. If this choice is enabled, turn it off in the Samsung Account privacy or marketing settings available on your device or account page. This choice is about receiving promotional communications; it is not the same as Android’s permission for a particular app.
Customization Service and personalized advertising
Customization Service uses permitted account and device information to tailor content or advertising. Samsung’s UK support guidance documents the route Settings > Samsung Account > Privacy > Customisation Service. (Samsung uses the spelling “Customisation” on that regional page.) Switch off the relevant customization or personalized-ad choices if you do not want that tailoring.
Samsung Saudi Arabia documents a different route on some devices: Settings > Privacy > Customisation Service. That page describes controls including Customise this phone, Customised ads and direct marketing and an ads-personalization opt-out. These are regional and software-version differences, not instructions that must all appear on one phone. If you see separate switches, read their descriptions and turn off only the uses you do not want to change.

What an account opt-out does not do
Turning off Customization Service or personalized ads changes how content is selected and how optional marketing is used; it does not promise a completely ad-free Galaxy experience. Samsung’s US terms state that generic Samsung ads may still appear on online platforms when optional marketing features are off. Samsung UK likewise says disabling Customisation Service does not fully disable ads. Browser advertising, third-party app advertising and notifications already authorized for another app are separate systems.
Personalization and marketing consent are related but distinct. An opt-out can reduce relevance-based targeting and the data used for tailoring, while a notification switch controls whether a particular app can alert you at all. You may therefore need both settings: first disable the unwanted app category, then review account choices if you also want fewer personalized offers elsewhere.
Stop pop-ups in Chrome
Use browser controls when an advert opens as a web page, redirects you to another site or appears over a page. They do not disable Galaxy Store or Samsung Account notifications.

- Tap the browser menu, then Settings.
- Open Site settings.
- Turn off Pop-ups and redirects.
- Review the Ads setting and turn it off when available.
These settings target websites that use browser pop-ups, redirects or the relevant web-ad behavior. A promotion generated by a Samsung app will continue until that app’s notification permission or account marketing choice is changed. If the pop-up appears only on one site, note that site when checking browser permissions; changing Chrome does not alter ads displayed inside other apps.
Stop pop-ups in Samsung Internet
- Open Samsung Internet.
- Open the browser menu and choose Settings.
- Tap Sites and downloads.
- Turn on Block pop-ups.
Samsung Internet also provides an Ad blockers area where you can choose a compatible blocker. That is an optional browser measure, not a requirement for disabling Samsung promotional notifications and not a remedy for ads produced by another installed app. Do not install extra blocking software merely to silence a notification; use the app’s own notification controls for that problem.
Investigate lock-screen and charging-screen ads
Lock-screen promotions
Samsung Saudi Arabia support says Samsung does not place ads on the lock screen and that lock-screen ads are usually caused by third-party apps or browser settings. If an ad appears there, note what was installed or updated shortly before the problem began. Check that app’s notifications, overlay permissions and browser permissions rather than turning off unrelated Samsung account features.
Some devices may show a notification or lock-screen element from an app even when it is not obvious from the visual design. Long-press any associated notification, then follow it to the responsible app’s settings. If no notification is available, review recently installed apps and apps allowed to appear over other apps. The aim is to identify the sender before removing permissions from unrelated services.

Samsung identifies Samsung Global Goals as a specific exception that can display ads while the phone is charging when its charging-screen option is enabled. Open Samsung Global Goals, enter its settings and switch off Charge screen ads. This setting addresses the charging screen only; it does not control ordinary notification promotions or browser pop-ups.

Remove app-generated overlays and persistent pop-ups
Samsung UK support notes: “Sometimes when you download certain apps, they push pop up ads onto your phone.” The statement applies to downloaded-app pop-ups, not to every Samsung promotion.
Check recently installed apps
- Open Settings > Apps and sort or review recently installed and recently active apps.
- Make a short list of apps added or updated just before the ads began.
- Open each suspect app’s information page and review its notifications, permissions and ability to appear over other apps.
- Uninstall one suspicious app at a time, then use the phone normally long enough to see whether the pop-ups stop.
- If the ads continue, restore the app only if you are confident it was not the source and test the next candidate.
Testing one app at a time makes the result clear. Removing several apps simultaneously may stop the ads but leaves you unsure which app caused them. Keep a note of what you changed so you can restore a useful permission if the symptom was unrelated.
When the problem may be malicious
Persistent pop-ups after you have checked browser settings and the responsible app may indicate a virus or other unwanted software, according to Samsung UK guidance. That is a possibility, not a diagnosis. Avoid tapping suspicious adverts, remove software you do not recognize, and seek help through Samsung Members if the behavior continues. Do not assume that every persistent promotion proves a Samsung system fault.

Why one switch cannot remove every ad
Galaxy advertising is delivered through separate layers. An app notification is governed by Android notification permission. A website pop-up is governed by the browser and the website’s behavior. A personalized offer is influenced by Samsung Account choices. An overlay is generated by an installed app with the ability to draw over other content. The charging screen can have its own Samsung Global Goals option.
These layers can overlap in appearance but not in control. Turning off personalization can reduce targeted content without withdrawing an app’s notification permission. Blocking browser pop-ups cannot stop a Galaxy Store alert. Removing a suspicious app cannot change marketing consent stored in a Samsung Account. Work from the visible symptom to the sender so that useful device alerts remain enabled.
Troubleshooting when promotions continue
The same notification returns after you disabled it
Check whether more than one app is sending similar messages. Review Settings > Notifications > Recently sent again after the next alert. Some Samsung services use separate notification categories, so disabling one category may leave another promotional channel active.
You changed account privacy settings but still see ads
Confirm that the change affected the intended Samsung Account and device. Account marketing controls reduce optional communications and personalization; Samsung says generic ads may still appear on online platforms. Then identify whether the remaining item is actually a browser pop-up, an app overlay or a charging-screen ad, each of which needs its own control.
You cannot find Customization Service
Search Settings for Customization or Customisation, and check both Samsung Account > Privacy and the device’s standalone Privacy section. Samsung’s UK and Saudi Arabian support pages show different paths, and your model, One UI version and region may use another label.

Pop-ups appear even when the browser is closed
That pattern points away from a normal browser page. Review recently installed apps, notification history and “appear over other apps” permissions. Uninstall suspicious apps one at a time. If the behavior persists, contact Samsung through Samsung Members because persistent pop-ups can be a sign of unwanted software.
You disabled all notifications and missed something important
Reopen the sending app’s notification page and restore the app permission, then disable only the promotional category if the phone lists categories separately. Check for security, account and download categories before saving the change. This gives you a narrower fix than leaving every notification from the app blocked.

Are lock-screen ads always from Samsung?
No. Samsung Saudi Arabia says Samsung does not place ads on the lock screen and says these are usually caused by third-party apps or browser settings. Samsung Global Goals is a separately documented exception for ads shown while charging, not a general lock-screen advertising explanation.
Do Chrome pop-up settings block ads inside Galaxy Store?
