Gore controls vary by game and platform. In Gears 5, switch Gore off to remove blood splatters and custom executions. In Gears of War: E-Day, the Gore setting affects only some blood and gore effects. For Gears of War 4 on PC, lowering Particle Spawn Rate reduces blood and gore but is not a full-off switch.

Turn off gore in Gears 5
- Open the game’s Options menu.
- Find the Gore control in the accessibility or content settings and turn it off.
The Coalition says this removes blood splatters and custom executions. Its description does not say that every violent animation or story event is removed.

Turn off campaign swearing separately
Use the separate Mature Content option to disable swearing in the campaign story. It does not block profanity heard through online voice chat. The game also has a text-chat profanity filter that filters most profanity shown on screen; that is separate from the gore setting.

- From the main menu or during play, open Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Under Mature Content, find Gore and toggle it.
The setting is described as toggling display of some blood and gore effects during gameplay, not as removing all of them.

Filter profanity in E-Day
The dialogue and subtitle Profanity Filter is available only in English. The separate Chat Profanity Filter applies to player text messages and requires Text Chat to be on.
Reduce gore in Gears of War 4 on PC
- Open the game’s graphics settings.
- Lower Particle Spawn Rate.
NVIDIA’s PC graphics guide says this reduces blood and gore when enemies are killed, along with smoke and debris. It does not document a setting that fully turns gore off. The cited guidance is for PC; it does not establish that the same control exists on console.

What about the original trilogy?
For the original Gears of War, Gears of War 2, and Gears of War 3, a community-maintained wiki describes older content filters, but that is not enough to confirm the current menu path or behavior across original, remastered, and backward-compatible editions. Look in the specific edition’s Options menu and verify what its filter changes rather than assuming one set of directions applies to every release.

Gore, profanity, and chat are separate controls
- Visual effects: Use the game’s Gore option where available, or the PC particle setting in Gears of War 4.
- Campaign language: Gears 5 and E-Day offer separate profanity controls, with the limits described above.
- Online communication: In-game language filters do not necessarily control voice chat. Gears 5’s campaign setting does not block profanity heard from other players.
