There is no verified, official menu path for selectively turning off Pokémon GO’s low Gym motivation alerts. Niantic’s Help Center documents a separate “Pokémon’s Return” push-notification setting, not a low-motivation toggle. Check the game’s notification settings and your phone’s Pokémon GO notification controls, but neither should be assumed to offer a selective switch for this alert.
Where to look for the low-motivation alert setting
- Check Pokémon GO’s in-game notification settings. Open the game’s Settings and look for its Notifications area. The official Help Center confirms that this area exists, but the setting it documents is for a different alert: Earning the Defender Bonus describes the “Pokémon’s Return” push notification. It does not establish that a low-motivation control is available or identify its label.
- Check your phone’s notification controls for Pokémon GO. The operating system may let you manage notifications from the app. That is a place to investigate, not a confirmed selective fix: disabling all Pokémon GO notifications would also silence other alerts.
- Verify the result in your current app and on your device. Menu labels and available controls can vary by app version and platform. If you need to keep other Pokémon GO alerts, do not turn off all notifications unless you are comfortable losing them too.
Do not confuse this alert with “Pokémon’s Return”
A low-motivation alert concerns a defender in a Gym. “Pokémon’s Return” is a distinct push notification described by Niantic’s Help Center. Its documented setting does not prove that it controls low-motivation alerts, so changing it may not stop the notification you mean.

What low Gym motivation means
Motivation declines over time and when a defender is defeated in battle; feeding berries restores it. The official Gym-feature announcement says a Pokémon with no motivation returns to its Trainer the next time it loses a Gym battle. That describes the game mechanic, not a notification setting.

Pokémon GO’s accessory controls do not establish how to disable Gym motivation alerts. For example, Pokémon Support’s Poké Ball Plus instructions cover Nearby Pokémon and Nearby PokéStop notifications; disabling notifications or vibration also stops automatic PokéStop spinning. For Pokémon GO Plus +, Pokémon Support’s technical FAQs say Pokémon and PokéStop notification vibrations cannot be disabled independently, although the notifications themselves can be disabled in Pokémon GO settings. Neither accessory guide identifies a low-motivation alert control.
