To stop the Google Discover feed in the Google app, open Google, tap your profile picture or initial, select Settings > General, and switch off Discover. If you mean Discover shown on google.com, use the separate browser setting described below. A swipe-from-home feed can be controlled differently on some devices, so the Google app switch does not guarantee removal of every manufacturer-specific panel.
Turn off Discover in the Google app
This is the direct Android method for the feed inside the Google app and is the setting Google documents for turning Discover off.

- Open the Google app on your Android phone or tablet.
- Tap your profile picture or initial in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Choose General.
- Turn off Discover.
The feed should stop appearing in the Google app after the switch is disabled. Google’s official instructions are available at Turn off Discover.
Which Google feed are you trying to remove?
“Google feed” can refer to several surfaces. Discover may appear in the Google app, on the Google mobile website, or after a swipe from a device’s home screen. These surfaces do not always share the same control.

The distinction matters because disabling Discover in the app may not remove an OEM-specific panel that a launcher exposes from a home-screen gesture. Turn off Discover on Google’s mobile website
If the cards appear when you visit Google’s website rather than inside the Google app, use the website-specific switch:

google.com. - Tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap More settings.
- Choose Other settings.
- Turn off Show Discover on home page.
This option controls Discover on the Google mobile home page. It is separate from the Google app’s Settings > General > Discover switch. Google notes that the browser control is unavailable in some countries or languages, so you may not see the label even when you are signed in. If Discover still appears after you switch it off
You are seeing a home-screen panel
Some Android phones show Discover after you swipe from the home screen. Google describes this as a feature available on some devices, not a universal Android behavior. The panel may be supplied or arranged by the phone’s home-screen software rather than by the Google app alone.

- Confirm that the Google app switch is off at Google > profile picture or initial > Settings > General > Discover.
- Return to the home screen and check whether the remaining panel is reached by a swipe gesture.
- Open your phone’s home-screen or launcher settings and look for a control for the left-most page, Google app page, Discover, or a news/feed panel. The exact name and location vary by manufacturer, so do not assume every Android phone uses the same menu.
- If the device’s documentation identifies a separate home-screen control, disable that panel there. Google’s general Android instructions cover the fact that home-screen options differ across devices: Android Home screen help.
Do not treat the swipe position as a reliable product label. On one phone the feed may be to the left of the main home page; on another, the gesture or panel may not exist at all.
The website setting is missing
The Show Discover on home page switch is documented for Google’s mobile website, but Google says it is not offered in every country or language. If the menu is absent, you may be in a region or language where that control is unavailable, or you may be viewing a different Google surface. Check that you are on google.com in a mobile browser and use the Google app setting for in-app cards.

The menu wording looks different
Google updates its apps and settings pages. The documented path is Settings > General > Discover, but labels can move as the interface changes. Google also warns that some customization settings may not match the current experience while settings are being updated. Start from the profile picture or initial in the Google app, then look for General and the Discover switch rather than relying on an older screenshot.
Turning off Discover versus changing what it shows
Disabling Discover removes the feed; it does not merely change the subjects in the cards. If you still want a personalized stream but dislike particular stories, Google provides separate controls for topics, sources, and recommendations.
Use topic and source controls when you want a different feed
In Discover, you can use the controls on individual cards to indicate that you are not interested in a topic or source, or adjust followed interests. Those controls are intended to refine recommendations, not turn the service off. Google’s instructions for these choices are in Customize what you find in Discover.
Choose the correct outcome
- No Discover cards anywhere in the Google app: switch off Discover in the Google app’s General settings.
- No cards on the Google mobile home page: switch off Show Discover on home page in the website’s More settings > Other settings menu, where available.
- Fewer or different subjects: keep Discover enabled and adjust topics, sources, or recommendation controls.
- No panel after a home-screen swipe: disable the relevant home-screen or launcher panel if the device exposes one separately.
What changes when Discover is off?
The Google app’s Discover feed is the part controlled by the Discover switch. Search itself remains available; this setting is not a request to disable Google Search or remove the Google app. Likewise, the browser switch concerns Discover shown on the Google home page, not every Google page you can open in a browser.
Because Android manufacturers can provide different home-screen layouts, the visual result after switching off Discover depends on where you were seeing it. You may see no feed in the Google app while a separate launcher page remains, or you may see the home-screen panel disappear if that device maps it directly to Discover.

Re-enable Discover later
You can restore the Google app feed by returning to Google > profile picture or initial > Settings > General and turning Discover back on. For the mobile website, return to google.com, open the profile menu, choose More settings > Other settings, and turn on Show Discover on home page if that option is available in your country and language.

- For the website, look for More settings > Other settings > Show Discover on home page.
